Did no one really get what Jones was trying to do?

Has anybody pointed out that Jones' fake interview seems to be a ripoff/takeoff of a thread on ATS UFO and Aliens forum entitled "A Conversatoin between Obama and Aliens"?

And that would be bad why?

Wouldn't that be a good thing if they borrowed an idea like that from their listeners? Actually, though, I think it came from a movie. It's on the tip of my tongue the name of it.

My personal view, and Jones operates from my territory and a friend of mine works (or did) in his effort, is that Jones is a flake and has proved that time after time with his out-of-control tirades.

And Zach de la Rocha drives a Land Rover. As they told Chris Pine when he expressed his fear of playing Captain Kirk in the wake of all the many Shatner fans: Son, you're just trying to get into Heaven, aint no one asking you to campaign to be Jesus.

No one is expecting him to be Jesus. Just Alex Jones.

Tirade away as long as there is an avenue out there for alternative media.

Charlie Sheen wrote "20 Min. With the Prez.", not Alex.

So you are giving him permission to call himself a good christian as well as threaten to beat up every caller that questions him????? If that is not accepting the lie, I have no idea what is.

Let me ask this, is it too much to ask the man to just be honest or try researching some of the BS he talks about before reporting it as "admitted, folks!"

I for one applaud mr. jones and mr. sheen on this entire thing. not for HOW it was carried out (for representing it firs as a REAL interview, rather than one that sheen would LIKE to have), but for the fact that the MSM has picked up on and reported n.on the story, bringing it to the masses again.

My priest is the one I look to as a model for what Christ expects of me, Alex Jones aint my priest and he sure aint Jesus. If I were to judge other self-professed Christians by their sins and dislike them for it then I would hate the world. I don't believe in violence at all, but I don't judge the Catholics that join the military. That's between them and their God.

We are all hypocrites about some things. If I were looking up to Jones to "lead me" or to be the movement's role model...that's different. He's just someone who has a radio program and the ability to shake things up.

I think we need to wait on the judging because none of us know what we'd do in his position. When this is your "life" and no one is waking up you get frustrated.

Huh???????????????????????

Go tell this to your priest and let him school you.

If you do not want to judge, cool. You want to love sinners, awesome.

You are going to have to try much much harder than this to come up with any argument that makes sense to say that you know someone is a liar, accept he is a proven liar, and yet are willing to believe anything he tells you.

See the difference? No one said you have to hate or condemn the man but when someone is a liar, they are no longer a valid source of information. That is just how reality works. Even your bible and your priest will back me up on this.

We see this differently.

I see this as a "one act" you see it as something more serious. I saw it as a "production" and "art". I never for one second (even without disclaimer) thought it was real. I always knew it was a "promotion", so I don't feel it was a lie. It was completely absurd and preposterous to think that Charlie Sheen, not Ellen, not Oprah, not Anderson Cooper, but Charlie "hound dog" Sheen could get Obama to walk about 9-11 for twenty minutes!

Come on!

Do you at least get where I am coming from?

If it was slicker, say, not Obama but one of his Czars...maybe I could see it as real enough seeming to be a deception.

Yes, you are coming from a place where you have to defend Alex no matter what. Guess where I am coming from?

Alex is a known liar who reports fraudulent stories.

Disclaimers come at the beginning of whatever it is that they apply to, otherwise they are useless. Yet, for some reason they just happened to post this interview sans disclaimer until internet buzz had found the original real interview. Suddenly, viola - a disclaimer.

Sheen is a known drug user, woman beater, and frequent prostitute customer. So that is the star good Christian, truth seeking Alex wants to hitch his wagon too?

Two liars together present a story that appears to be real but is proven fake and then is presented again with a disclaimer. Hmmmm let me think real hard about that for a moment....

If it was slicker, say, not Obama but one of his Czars...maybe I could see it as real enough seeming to be a deception.

What is this? This thread is about Alex Jones and you use it just to slam Obama? Get your facts straight first. American Czars are a Republican invention. Obama did not make them up. Get back on topic.

No, I am honestly not. I don't like his policies on the environment. I get frustrated when he has really cool guests on because he talks over them like, Icke, for example.

I don't defend him unless I feel he deserves it.

Guess where I am coming from?

France? No--wait, I know, I know! Austria?

Alex is a known liar who reports fraudulent stories.

If Alex Jones and his network had the money, cache, and prestige of CNN more doors would open, more funding for better research and staff, and his stories would be tighter. Being wrong does not necessarily a liar make.

Disclaimers come at the beginning of whatever it is that they apply to, otherwise they are useless.

The USGS site has a disclaimer on the site. Find it for me.

www.usgs.gov...

So does the NIH. Find it.

www.nih.gov...

Here's a famous one where they hawk the product EVERYWHERE. Find the Acai-Berry disclaimer

get-acai.com...

Note: None of the disclaimers are posted at the forefront.
My Point: disclaimers generally are tagged after.

Yet, for some reason they just happened to post this interview sans disclaimer until internet buzz had found the original real interview.
Um, if you jumped on first thing in the wee hours of the morning, yeh, sure. I know people who never saw the original.

Suddenly, viola - a disclaimer.

Again, I think this is all circumstantial. Again, I had zero difficulty even at 7:45 am realizing that this was not a real interview with Obama.

Sheen is a known drug user, woman beater, and frequent prostitute customer.

Exactly why you should have questioned Obama giving him an interview when he won't give them to more credible 9-11 Truth seekers.

So that is the star good Christian, truth seeking Alex wants to hitch his wagon too?

Hey, if the Dear Lord can allow fallen women, tax collectors, and alcoholics in his little group then I think the rest of us can, too.

Two liars together present a story that appears to be real but is proven fake and then is presented again with a disclaimer. Hmmmm let me think real hard about that for a moment....

No, one sexual deviant and one loudmouth present a story.

If it was slicker, say, not Obama but one of his Czars...maybe I could see it as real enough seeming to be a deception.

*does double take*
Um, I don't believe that I've ever said that Czars were an Obama invention. Furthermore, I supported Obama until I realized he was just more of the same. No disclosure, we're still in Iraq with no exit strategy, Patriot Act still going strong, Fusion Centers still open... Had Obama made a statement about repealing the Patriot Act he would be my best friend forever. That should have been first order of business, but he didn't. Therefore, to me he is the same as every other President in the last forty years. Talk much, do little.

What??????? What planet is it over there? If he cannot afford the staff to do the research, THEN HE SHOULD NOT BE REPORTING STUFF HE CANNOT RESEARCH! That is it. If he was any kind of honest man, he would not report a story until he checked it out. Talking about leaving kids to die in cages is pretty outragious but apparently not worth checking out? These are not mistakes though because then, as always, he punctuated it with "This is admitted, folks!"

Ok, who admitted it? When and where? Either there is an admission somewhere, or he is flat out lying. There is no middle ground there.

I did not say that it fooled me. So you did not fall for it. Neither did I. That is not the point. The point is what they tried to do, not what the result was. They intended to put that out as a real interview and underestimated the amount of time it would take for people to figure out where it came from.

No, one sexual deviant and one loudmouth present a story.

No. Two liars present a story. Sheen has been convicted of crimes. He is a lawbreaker. Breaking the law with intent to get away with the crime is inherently dishonest. Sheen is a liar. Alex, well he just tells lies on his show each and every day. Most of them are pretty easy to check out as well. I stand by my statement.

If it was slicker, say, not Obama but one of his Czars...maybe I could see it as real enough seeming to be a deception.

Then you should not have stuck that little dig in there where it does not belong. "If I was slicker...one of his czars????" What is that all about? What does any of that have to do with this thread or anything anyone was discussing here?

Nope. You are wrong again. 3 examples does not equate "generally." Disclaimers are put at the end when the goal is to be deceptive. It is not general practice but I never said it never happens. Your problem is that you completely failed to show me examples of news stories being posted with the disclaimer coming an hour later.

All investigative or alternative reporting has a % of correctness based on the fact that you are presenting a case for something, not reporting crash numbers, or other local news type of stuff. If he is inaccurate about some things it comes with the territory. My point was that he does pretty good for not having CNN's budget.

I would hope that since he is speaking to a more discerning audience than say "Fox" his listeners would take some responsibility to do research on their own and not follow anyone blindly down the rosy path.

News stories don't have disclaimers. This had a disclaimer because it wasn't a news story.

I agree with you that Alex Jones is trying to create the news ,but no one believes that Obama will tell everything about 9-11. To do so would be suicide for Obama.

Alex Jones does not need to create news. Children are being snatched. People are being incarcerated without just cause. People are being murdered and maimed for petty reasons. This is only the surface of what is happening beneath all this there is not an honest person who is not suffering some injustice right now. Jones should cover these stories.

I agree with you. However, you have to reach the people and make them see that if the government will lie about something that big, do something that terrible than all these other stories, the ones you are talking about, must be questioned, too.

It's the best chance to get people to open their eyes because everyone was a part of 9-11, not everyone is a part of this. 9-11 was the catalyst for the Patriot Act, the legislation that turned us from a constitutional republic to a potential dictatorship.

Must be great to place yourself so far above the "common" man...... Which is largely why I think Alex Jones has gotten as far as he does. He gives people an excuse to feel superior than others. They know something others don't. Their smart. Whatever. If Alex Jones lied about this you really got to ask yourself if you are smart. What else has he lied about. I see a great deal of people that take his "news" on pure faith and believe his word his gospel. Amazingly enough even when he is blatantly lying, like with his apology.
