Did no one really get what Jones was trying to do?

He is creating a story. That is why he said "this is the biggest story I've ever covered." This is a campaign, a push, a thrust forward. He has decided to make the news, as opposed to covering it.

Why is this a difficult concept to understand?

I realize that as conspiracy theorists we see conspiracies everywhere. A cop once told me that it is very hard not to look at someone and think: What are they hiding? But I'm asking you all to try.

IF this works, if Sheen gets a few minutes with Obama then, yes, this will be the biggest story he's ever covered and he will have succeeded in a) making the news, b) allowing the people to have their say, and c) associate himself with a higher truth.

Charlie Sheen is the highest paid television actor. That's saying something. Yes, he's a former reprobate, but his father is a famous Catholic (says "normal" to the world) who hasn't had his name in the mags for anything but taking care of his reprobate son, and he is also a leader in the Catholic Social Justice movement which does put him in the position to get to see the President. Basically, he has friends in high places.

I like your take on things. I got no idea what he was trying to do. I know it has created a bit of a # storm on here today. It's quite frightening seeing grown men and ladies running around like it's the end of the world. Do atsers really put that much stock in him?

Perhaps that was a lie... but I still am of the opinion that this was entirely calculated so he could bring the attention of this topic to the forefront of the media.

he's one of the most widely known men in the field it was utterly irresponsible of him and damages all of our credibility.

The only good that will come of this is that a Link for the keyword 'Alex Jones Hoax" has an ats thread at no 7 on Google at the moment so maybe some people will have a chance to enter an open and real (at times) discussion of issues thataffect us all.

But for Millions the biggest name in the field is now a known Hoaxer

and the boy who cried wolf syndrome will now be in effect for many, many people at a time when things happen to be very serious.

It's a time right now for real when failure of people to be aware could lead to loss even deaths

It was a scam at first- but he turned it into a work of fiction. He shouldn't have done it after-the-fact... it was a mistake on his part. If it was intended to be fiction than it wasn't a scam. But yeah, he should have put the disclaimer on there first and say that it was the biggest announcement in like 7 years first... to get people excited. That was bad on him.
