He is creating a story. That is why he said "this is the biggest story I've ever covered." This is a campaign, a push, a thrust forward.
He has decided to make the news, as opposed to covering it.
Why is this a difficult concept to understand?
I realize that as conspiracy theorists we see conspiracies everywhere. A cop once told me that it is very hard not to look at someone and think: What
are they hiding? But I'm asking you all to try.
IF this works, if Sheen gets a few minutes with Obama then, yes, this will be the biggest story he's ever covered and he will have succeeded in a)
making the news, b) allowing the people to have their say, and c) associate himself with a higher truth.
Charlie Sheen is the highest paid television actor. That's saying something. Yes, he's a former reprobate, but his father is a famous
Catholic (says "normal" to the world) who hasn't had his name in the mags for anything but taking care of his reprobate son, and he is also a
leader in the Catholic Social Justice movement which does put him in the position to get to see the President. Basically, he has friends in high
places.
