It appears to me that ATS members are predominately conservative and/or right wing so you cannot really gauge how the rest of the nation views Obama by this site. His current approval rating is at 65% which is pretty damned good... here on ATS I would guess it is at about 30% or less.

Is it because ATS members are smarter or more attentive?

GAWD NO!!!
Just look at some of the threads...

for some reason conspiracy theory attracts more conservative people.

I landed here because I didn't quite believe the official story of 9/11 but after reading all the theories I have seen posted here it seems more realistic everyday... I stay because there is a lot of interesting stuff posted...

but I wouldn't gauge how well Obama is doing based on ATS anymore than I would listening to mush loosebowels.

He apologizes every time he is out of the country for Americas "Sins". Americans can not stomach there leader saying this country is bad, We have done more good then evil, and we try to atone for our sins.

But America HAS done a lot of stuff that you need to say sorry for. I'm not an anti-American, but if were going to sit here on this board and say that the Iraq war was injust, then you can't then start kicking up a fuss when the leader says sorry for starting this war.

1.) America has nothing to be sorry for, well wait maybe in 1991 we should have kicked Saddams Ass then and been done with it. Freedom has been preserved in the west off of American's Blood and Money. Where would the England be if we diddnt side with you during World War II? Must likely Praising Hitler right about now.

2.) We know our faults in this country OUR President should not be doing what he is doing. It makes us look weak.

3.) For the past 65 Years England has been our Road Dogs going and doing whatever and wherever we go. So again Fix your own country first.

But I think soon enough you will be calling us again when Allahs Soldiers start running amok over there in England Like they are starting to do now.
Good luck with.

I voted for Obama out of necessity. I would have loved to vote for Ron Paul, but he didn't stand a chance, and I just plain didn't like McCain!

That said, I never expected him to be the all-encompassing saviour that he was made out to be. I expected him to spend billions of dollars (not trillions, lol) propping up the economy while I made plans for our inevitable collapse. For me, he provided a reprieve while I get prepared. I don't think McCain would have bought me as much time.

I did have hopes that he would be a strong decision maker and not cow to pressures from TPTB. I am still undecided on that aspect. I think he is on schedule for troop withdrawal, he has a plan for Afgan., and I never thought closing Gitmo was a big deal one way or another, unless we are talking about the whole base instead of the prison.

Anyone with extremely strong feelings one way or another for Obama or Bush is IMHO being a little presumptious. They do not have that much power. They are controlled by their parties, their cabinets, their congresses, their campaign contributors, etc. They all go into office with the best of intentions, but once they take that oath, they are just another president!

i dont hate the man, but he is the same old dog and pony show

1) said he would close down gitmo- renig

2) promised pulling out troops- asked for over 25,000 more troops., when elected into office

3) Bailed out bankers, auto makers with us tax dollars that put us in over 4.7 trillion dollars in debt in less than six months, in which dodge and gm still went belly up.

4) bowed to the kind of saudi arabia. who is the true king?

5) roughly 500,000 people monthly losing there jobs, and obamas stimulus packages have done nothing for the economy!

i could go on and on and on, but if this is change that a person can beleive in. i am the pope!

You are right,I want to apologize right now for our interference in the European theater during WWII. We were attacked by Japan and were drawn into that conflict, but we had no right or reason to become involved in Europe's war. We as a country should stand clear of conflict between other countries. Let each man stand on his own I say!

1) America joined in the war at the last possible second and raves that it one the war. You did no such thing and I think you should be ashamed of yourself for saying that. The UK troops one what war, America did 5 minutes of work and got itself the killshot and took all the glory. That war would have been one by us no matter what America did. You didn't come to the rescue, you got involved when you were pushed to, so don't give me that 'riding in on a horse to save the day' BS. If you had been left alone, you would have never even got involved.

2) By not saying sorry, he makes you look like idiots. The ENTIRE world knows where America is going wrong because they all get to sit on the internet and Twitter and Blog and Myspace and Facebook there opinions. To say sorry when your wrong shows class, and it's a good thing to so.

3) The UK doesn't want to be your lap dog anymore. This is part of the reason Brown is in the place he is in. Nobody wants to be involved with any foreign leaders here because of the state we are in. Given the choice, 90 odd % of the UK would have us be an island in foreign policy terms, because we need to look inward before we galavant over the work in the sidecar telling people how to live, which is something the US is just as guilty of.

As far was Allah's soldiers, the reason they are mad is because Bush decided to take a trip to look for invisible WMD's/oil/chocolate/whatever and they reacted to the invasion, just as we or you would. The threat is there because we started it.

In all seriousness, I don't understand what the issue is. Please can somebody tell me why. I mean, We all know why Gordon Brown is hated, but I don't follow US politics much, so I would love to know why the American people are so mad at him when he has seemingly not done much so far...

I made a comment before on how intelligent I thought the man was. Some people don't like that. If some can't find rational fault with the man, they will make something up. When the "red light is blinking", its more personality I think that makes a difference, then raw smarts. But 99% of the time we need the smarts. Leave the theatre at the entrance to the oval office. For my money, and I don't gamble, the man does impress me no end. This President has both great skill and tact, and he just started his job, give him a little , at least some time.

I even gave Jimmy Carter time, untill I was convinced he was a very decent, moral man, just a terrible President. My view on President Carter has not changed since the 1970's. Great guy, just awfull President.

We joined the war in 1941, prior to us joining the war we supplied England with money, weapons, beans, and bullets, ever heard of the Lend-Lease act? And we don’t act as if We solely won the war but hey lets face it you guys were toast and it was only a matter of time before the NAZIS blockaded England, and Invaded it. And yes America Was Pushed into the War by the Jap Attack shouldn’t that tell other nations not to Push?

2.) We did nothing wrong in Iraq, Everyone believed (yes Including England and the UN) that Saddam Had WMDs or had the capability to produce them. While we did not find large quainites of them like Bush said there would be we did find some. (Including SCUD MISSLES which he wasn’t suppose to have.)

3.) I never called England are Lap Dogs but are ROAD DOGS. There a difference Google it.

4.) Allah’s warriors want to hurt you regardless if what bush did Terriosm isn’t new to them but keep your head in the clouds and your mouth off America.

Even Saddam's own troops thought they had the weapons! They were emboldened with confidence by the knowledge that "some other unit" had WMD's.

Rumors are that the weapons were shipped out directly before the invasion, or that it was a universal bluff, and everyone bought it!

Additionally:

Only Russia has a case to make about who won the war. They would not have protected UK, but they certainly mounted an historic winter defense, and later marched into Berlin!

So USA, sure, Russia, maybe, UK, no way!

This site is getting dumber and dumber.

Obama is a retard who can act and read a teleprompter. His policy is dictated to him by his superiors.

The policy is simple; Extended war in Iraq (even though he said he would bring the troops home - he lied), less troops abroad - but he lied - he's sending more to Afghanistan. He is keeping up the infringement of personal liberties and preparing America for communism.

He pushes through a spending bill that is the largest in known history - and doesn't give congress time to read it - using the Clowen Picton strategy of crisis-response to push it through by using lies and intimidation on congress.

The spending bill is designed to exacerbate the economic crisis by devaluing the dollar and crushing manufacturing businesses and jobs - this is part of paving the way for the North American Union.

He is a complete liar, he is a tool - but who cares - because nobody else would have given America anything different - excepting probably Ron Paul, who was targeted as the enemy by media - and would probably have been assassinated.

Just a little thought exercise...

What do you think would have happened... how many votes would the man have gotten if everyone who had thought the same wrote his name in regardless?

hey there, another american here, I agree with most of what you wrote. I'm a history prof and your right, but our kids are taught a lot of propaganda. The russians beat the nazi's and we are very grateful you brits held out against the luftwaffe. we like to come in and save the day. notice all our adventure sci fi movies? don't hate us and don't look down upon us, its our diversity that is our strength and hope for our planet. no where else can you have a peaceful powerful public discourse that runs so deep. its why we rock! And England? we wouldn't be here without you. god save the queen and the clash!

With the 'private' health care system there aren't unqualified people making health care decisions (I suppose a guy at the insurance company with a spreadsheet is qualified), health care is affordable (only if you have or can afford insurance, are poor, or are rich), and there's no bureaucracy (nope, no paperwork to fill out).

Well he only promised change....didn't say how, what, where or why. So, your right he hasn't done anything positive yet. Just keeps muttering those words of change. Do you notice every speech or address he has given since in office sounds like he's still running his campaign......got to wonder if he even believes he's POTUS.....or if it's only a dream.

But in time TPTB will make the demands and you see some ratically different policies rear there ugly heads.....all in the name of CHANGE!

Hope is not an option, only anger suits me

RON PAUL SHOULD HAVE RUN AGAINST THIS SMUCK!
