I wonder when Iran and friends will take the cue from N. Korea and start doing their own thing. Although....I don't believe N. Korea made it into the -axis of evil- as Bush Jr. put it....

Maybe we should also look at this as a possible Sales testrun of the Nukes.

What I mean is that by testing underground device and also testing missiles which I assume is the launch mechanism they would be showing off their wares.

I see the governments are saying harsh words

I will say this, the fact that this test came so close to the testing of thier "sattelite" give me pause as to what they may be up to.

Perhaps showing off for perspective buyers as many have elduded to here.

That could be scary.

What do people expect N. Korea to do? They will test and get more and even stronger weapons. Nothing of consequence happened last time they tested so why not test again. More sanctions, give me a break they are worthless. There is no way we would attack them with force we are already spreading ourselves to thin with the current wars we have. We are in no position to police the world anymore, if we keep up like this we will just lose all the credibility we have left and Russia or China will probably be able to bully us then.

Magnitude 4.7, North Korea

earthquake.usgs.gov...

Same place as the last test.

Where do you think Russians got their data from?

Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed an atomic explosion at 9:54 a.m. (0054 GMT) in northeastern North Korea, estimating the blast's yield at 10 to 20 kilotons — comparable to the bombs that flattened Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

If the US Geological Survey guys put an earthquake at zero depht, any such shaker could be as well the result of an underground nuclear test -- you won't dig a mile-long shaft, would you?

The S. Koreans messed up to generate the correct magnitude: 4.7 quake is 4/7 -- the Fourth of July, the Independence day. The Memorial Day is 5.25 on the Richter scale this year.

Nukes, missiles, and Kim...oh my!

As scary as this is, it is doubtful that anything of any substance will happen. We are over a barrel militarily and diplomatically impotent. All that is going to happen is meetings, denunciation of the act, and a strong reaction from the markets tomorrow. How sad that in this day and age one nutcase with a bad hairdo can hold the entire world at bay.

I very much like the idea of everyone minding their own business. Let NK make it on their own, no money, no food no nothing and see how long they continue in this path. We baby the maniacs, kiss the butts of the dictators, and search in vain for Bin Laden in retaliation for 9/11.

One last thought, can anyone still really pay attention to Biden and his dire warning of the "test" for Obama? This guy has slip of the lip disease and still people are looking for this elusive and deadly test. All POTUS are tested and this one is no different.

N KOREA has test fired THREE short range missiles... Sky News
Atleast ONE missile was headed toward S.KOREA... Sky News that was reported earlier.

Obama must be writing a really nasty letter to him. Kim is a mad man... Can anyone explain to me why he spends so much on a "nuclear project" rather than feed his country?

Do you think the world would be in an uproar over the headlines "Mad dictator feeds his people!" Spending money on this project gets him money, payoffs, attention, and power. Feeding his people does none of that.

Why have I never heard of the Bliderbrand group before Obama was elected?

Not enough reading?

And what were they doing while Bush was in office? Hanging out and twiddling their thumbs?

I find it worrisome simply because their leadership often acts like a child having a tantrum when they don't get their way. And giving that sort of mentality weapons of mass destruction is a scary thing.

Watch the video in this link for a really good explanation of the Bankers behind this. It does have swearing in it tho, but funny and informative

....... back on topic......

The Missile tests are being reported as short range missiles. I can only think of South Korea and Japan as possible targets.

Any one have info on how far a short range will go (based on the type used of course)

The satellite in case you did not notice was just a ruse... The North Koreans predicted a splashdown point for debris and the missile without disgorging any missile splashed down precisely where predicted.

The so called satellite test was actually a demonstration of ballistic targeting accuracy.

Do you have a link or anything where I can read up about this? Payoffs from who? I seriously just think Kim is sick in the head.

Payoffs in the form of aid. Just look up the UN / US response to any of his previous outbursts. This type of thing usually gets him a lot of free-bee's from the people who would like him to stop.

Condemnation? I'll bet Kim is shaking in his boots. Is Obama going to threaten him with a time out?

Thanks Karl, think I better go off and do my research now. Maybe by the time I'm finished they will have tested another one...

What response would you like to see? How would you prefer that the world handles this situation?
