When I saw this cartoon, it did not strike me as referring to Obama. I connected it with the democratic controlled congress, which appears to be as strong and deadly as the chimp that recently went beserk and ripped a woman's hands and face off. Now, if it was a dead proboscis monkey, then I could see the similarity between it and Obama.
NY art show closed over Bush monkey portrait
Bush Monkeys,' a painting by 23-year-old artist Christopher Savido of President Bush, hangs at the Animal gallery on New York City's Lower East Side, December 13, 2004. The portrait of Bush using monkeys to form his image led to the closure of a New York art exhibition over the weekend and anguished protests on Monday over freedom of expression. Ouch. Any way you look at that, it's in really poor taste. So, is that supposed to be President Obama, or are dead animals funny? What idiot would OK that for print in a publication?

I personally didn't see this cartoon as a direct insult to Obama, but I did see the cartoon as having Racist overtones. People are stating that Obama didn't write the Stimulus bill, correct but that is not the point. There is obvious and factual history where Chimps/Monkeys have been used as a Racist mechanism against Black People, it doesn't matter whether the Congressional knowledge is accurate it's the fact that the cartoon shows two white cops and a dead Monkey, the Newspaper should easily have known the sensitivity behind that cartoon. A similar slight was done a year ago I believe with a Muslim based cartoon.
It's about Tact. People are also stating that George Bush was depicted as a Monkey, that's totally different and acceptable because there has never been a case of a Monkey being equated to a White man.

There's nothing wrong with the cartoon. People need to grow up.
There are more important things to worry about.

Obama didn't write it so I doubt its suppose to be him. The Democrats in the House wrote one version and the Democrats in the Senate wrote another, once each version was approved it went into committee to to make it the same, then went back to the senate and house to be voted on and in this case passed. Obama only signs it.
Please learn how your Government works.

They called Bush a chimp, a monkey and an ape for eight years. There were plenty of cartoons depicting him as such, too.
Normally, I'd consider it to be offensive, but in this particular case, I'd say that turnabout is fair play. The other side started this. Don't whine and cry when it gets thrown back at you.
