I disagree completely...many people although they may not look like it, love all of that stuff. Those pornstars may act like they aren't interested in it, but why continue doing movie after movie? its a put on....a role play act that they dont want to do something pornagraphic and utterly insane.

Frankly, there are bigger things going on today than the feelings of porn stars who most likely are faking any...regrets...

They're porn stars for reasons- they enjoy doing what they do.

Never have I seen a video that shows valid emotion in the porn industry. Everything about porn is irrelevant to real-life. Its like a video game, not comparable in any way.

Life is insane, but porn is on another level of out there.

If your gonna blame anyone, blame the women and men for putting themselves out there in the first place. No-one put a gun to their head and said here, have sex on film.

Most porn stars are probably happy with their jobs, the few that I know of that weren't were alcoholics and drug abusers and frankly, those will lead you to depression regardless.

Nice post...but focus on the world right now, not the porn world.

My real estate example is random. here is a more accurate list:

Jobs with a low level of satisfaction:

Laborers, Except Construction 21%
Apparel Salespersons 24%
Hand packers and Packagers 24%
Food Preparers 24%
Roofers 25%
Cashiers 25%
Furniture and Home-Furnishing Salespersons 25%
Bartenders 26%
Freight, Stock and Material Handlers 26%
Waiters and Servers 27%

By your moral standard you should not support any of these industries.

To be honest, I never really thought about it. I just assumed there were unions and that porn actresses weren't really abused. Needless to say, this is an eye opener.

Although the girls did choose porn, I at least think they deserve to be treated like human beings. Some of those stories were jaw dropping and disturbing. Certainly, I'll be looking at pornography on the whole a lot differently.

Great post OP.

Porn is the enemy? Plenty of chicks who are in porn hate what they do but so do cashiers or anyone working in retail.

Frankly I don't see a difference between porn and major league sports. Both industries make millions of dollars. The people who watch can't perform nearly as well as the people they are watching. It is just as pointless in the universal scheme, it's entertainment. I'll tell you this, I'm not paying $100+ for a Jenna Jameson jersey.

In fact, porn has more of a right to exist than sports. After all, sex was the first game we played as a species. Porn serves one purpose, helping you climax. Porn, unlike the NY Giants, never fails to please.

Let us not stop with pornography. After we have done away with porn then we must focus on other matters that could lead a person to unhealthy thoughts.

Ladies please either destroy your short dresses or use the offending cloth to make quilts. This will apply to short shots and tight pants. All shirts and dresses would need to be long sleeved

Ban all tank tops, swim suits and anything bought from Victoria's Secret.

Men, no more tight jeans
And please, wear a bra and do not ever take your shirt off in public.

Ridiculous? Yes, just as is the idea that porn is harmful.

It has been my experience that a well done porn movie does have it's rewards.

We old people need all the help we can get.

P.S
I am 100% against child porn, snuff movies and sex slavery.

WOW.. Porn did those stuff to you? Be carefull.. you are clearly an easily impressed person..
When i watch porn is because im already "horny".. when i feel the need (hey.. im single and dont have much luck or time for love
)
It doesnt, in any way, influence the way i see life..
EDIT -> I almost forget.. when i detect that a girl in the movie is not enjoying it, because of the face or when she just looks to the camara making fake faces.. i stop watching.. i cant bare it.. its just stupid.. but there are really movies when you see they are having pleasure.. usually very passionate scenes.. thats why i HATE the american porn industry.. the european one is much better at it..

Edited 2-> Ive written a not apropriate word in the middle of the text

Just because it's what you're used to or what the world is used to doesn't mean it's right.

I may have missed this but I view porn something like Television.

People enjoy watching TV but in many ways it contributes harm to their lives in lost time and distractions from what "I" consider important in life. Got rid of my TV 5+ years ago.

I don't watch "much" porn anymore. Why?

Cause I realized I'm better off pursuing living breathing partners. Porn fulfills fantasies, fantasies that WILL come true if you get out in the world and take the knocks of learning to really interact with people, instead of ya know, watching porn. Women who I used to be afraid of cause of their mad hotness I now talk to with ease, and guys who don't spend the time out their learning send me dirty looks that say, "why is that girl falling for that?", the same guys that whine how they can't get girlfriends[I spent years getting shot down learning how to interact with women cause I realized I did not understand them one day, one of the hardest admissions I EVER made was that I didn't know how to interact with women]. All the while ignoring that IS what the woman wants cause they always just blew off women's actions with the "women don't make sense" belief and that they were only to behave a certain way. Why do many women return to abusive/crappy girlfriends...I understand now. Why do women date players who they KNOW are just using them for sex...I understand now. Why do incredible hot women date such ugly guys...I understand now. So many men don't that it absolutely amazes me now. They do make sense if you will just spend time learning their wants, desires and HUMAN behaviors and put away the pristine perfect saintly image media has given you that dictates how they "should" behave. Additionally, women are EVERY bit as sexual and nasty as men, and I'll go on to say they are FAR more nasty and sexual than men! If you don't believe this then you don't have experience with women. (I mean nasty in a good way ladies!)

Is porn exploitative, absolutely, everything in life is exploited. Sexuality is one of the most powerful attributes women possess, wars have been fought over beautiful women. To see it sold and treated like meat can easily be disconcerting, particularly to people who have seen women mistreated a great deal. Because of the sensitive area of peoples lives it occurs in, some people will be wrongly exploited, others will be well paid. Business of porn is amoral, but that doesn't change that the participants are people.

I do not advocate banning porn, restricting it more than it currently is, or anything of that nature.

I consider porn, just like TV, a great way to keep the masses docile. What could be better than every time a person get's in the mood for them to just go home and flip on the PC or DVD? Instead of going out, interacting and learning to be people within a community, it perpetuates the Zombie Consumption Culture that has become so rampant and further reduces our interactions with other people to just that of a consumer. Ever seen a guy approach a hot girl that doesn't know how...it's like he is walking up to a counter to order a book or something, body language is the same, the rhythm of the conversation is the same, the only interaction most people have is that of buying things anymore, or asking if someone likes something they bought in this case. After I admitted I didn't know what I was doing I was able to go out, learn, gain experience and have experiences most men only dream of, all because I admitted my vulnerabilities and put away my preconceived perception of how women should behave.

Best of luck to all. Stop watching so much porn, not for moral reasons, but because it will make you a better person reasons and you just might live through experiences that the porn producers only wish could be caught on film.

its crazy how al the pink cross stories are told in the same style, they all have the same myths about sex and drugs and all end in god guiding the sheep back to the flock...

i get the distinct impression i'm being lied to! This reminds me of the 'promise keepers' -they were famous for their clearly fake 'real life stories'

None of the people in the stories report normal effects from the drugs they're apparently addicted to, the abuse stories are almost all nonsensical (compared with the countless case studies i read in various psychological journals, papers, etc) and the 'porn industry' is treated like a mighty mythical force, those of us that watch channel 5's 'real porn' know this is anything but the case! (heh, i was only half joking about that) -all in all it reads like poor erotic literature.

I still agree that many people are forced into the porn industry through poverty and desperation but do we really need to muddy the waters of the debate by falsifying accounts and making up sob stories in a devious attempt to push some holy agenda?

I don't get why these bible thumpers hate porn so much, weren't we at our most holy cavorting nude in the garden of eden - is taking pleasure in the human form really a sin?

My mom was a midwife for Linda Lovelace when she had her second child, I think it was her second.

Of course she is famous for being in Deepthroat.

She had way many OBGYN problems. That's all I have to say.

Also- Amateur porn is sometimes safe because it can be submitted by anyone and doesn't need to be directed or have actors.

we are all masters of our own destiny, sadly you will never stop people wanting to do this and regreting it afterwards, it takes more than confidence to do this work, but we must preserve freedom of choice

With all due respect, this sounds like YOUR problem. I'm a woman and I like porn. In fact, my husband and I like dirty stuff that would probably make you blush. I worked in the sex industry (as a stripper way back when) before I went back to corporate America and then quit to be a lady of leisure. I also "mutilated" myself with some piercings because yes, it does feel good.

And guess what, I'm a very normal person- I might be a woman at your country club playing golf or tennis, or at the gym or GASP! at your church. If you met me in public, you'd never know any of what I just mentioned without my telling you.

interesting point but i have a straw man to defeat it; i can talk to girls, often i don't need to think up a way to chat them up because they've already started it all i need to is respond positively - I still think porn is great.

Firstly if i was interact physically with all the girls i could find it would probably cause no end of complications, for a start the emotional connection between whatever desperate psycho seemed ok in the club last night and me would create all manor of issues -say i sleep with a beautiful woman who turns out to be crazy and wants to marry me and dress me in pink, the emotional pain i would cause her just because i wanted to 'scratch my itch' would be unfair. Then consider the increased risk of STD, boyfriend related murder, etc and the fact going out meeting someone, getting them in bed and getting a taxi home can take hours -what about those nights i get home from wok at 11pmand have work again at 6am? All in all traditional sex can cause quite a disruption to ones life,

Maybe some people don't want to cling desperately to every skirt that comes along, maybe some of us brush off the thousands of adoring air heads in the search for someone with which to share a special connection.

hehe ok i let my ego lie a little in that post, you started it though

the way i see it is.

these woman have a choice.

if they want to make money they have to do what is demanded by the customer.

if they dont like it then dont do it.

its not rocket science.

If you don't like porn...don't watch it...if you do...have fun. Don't worry about what other people do...worry about yourself. If someone watches or doesn't watch it has no immediate effect on you....so leave them alone. One person does not have a right to deny someone else's rights just because it doesn't go along with their personal beliefs.

This is another reason...IMO...that this country is going down the tubes.

I don't care if only 1 person out of 100 watches porn...they have the right to. This is what this country was supposed to be about...freedom from persecution. Unfortunately it's full of bigots who think they should decide what is right for everyone else.

The majority of responses on this thread are: LOL, whatever, so what, who cares, it's their choice, what the hell, so what, or something similar..

I've watched porn, I think about 80 per cent is abusive. Not all of it is though.

The point is; The coldness and indifference to other people's suffering most of the responses display is the reason society is messed up like it is. It is also the attitude the Pharmaceutical companies and banks have towards the people they screw over.

Your family's home was foreclosed??? So what! whateva, shouldn't have taken out such a big mortgage, sux to be you! LOL!

Your mother/friend/family member is sick from cancer/heart disease, while they keep quiet about the cure??? ROFLMAO! Whatever. Not my problem!!! Who cares? Shouldn't have eaten all those burgers. Do I look like I care? Loser!

Is it that hard to see the connection? I understand people are indifferent, and we can't worry about everything all day. I am certainly no hero. But people here are actually parading their heartlessness like it's some kind of badge. Just like Alex Jones says, we've been conditioned to believe it's koooool to not care.

Stay cooool bad boyz.[edit on 13-1-2009 by HiAliens]

No. The problem is not a lack of caring. Its a lack of self-responsibility. The OP is trying to make us feel bad about enjoying porn, and I just can't buy into it.

The argument that the women don't like it.... well.... my advice to them would be.....

Wait for it............... Don't. Do. It.

If porn were banned tomorrow, I bet more women would me mad about being out of a job than would be relieved.

Cybertoy, do us all a favor and go sit in the middle of the closest highway. you obviously do not have the ability to understand or comprehend anything outside of saturday morning cartoons with a faggy message.
One word, MONEY. these women make more money in one rough sex scene with a gooey finish then you do all year. they agreed to be there, end of discussion.
Just because you feel the need to open your trap doesn't mean you should.
The idiots in your church group may think you make a good point, but they're in a church group and hence tarded.
Now i'm off to watch some FacialAbuse.com, good day

I get the feeling the OP thinks the porn industry is the 2nd holocaust.

Good post by the way

I can not believe the harm our government has caused us. Therefore, I refuse to watch any more GOVT. channels or debates between politicians.

The world is corrupt my friend. The people in the porn industry choose to be there. Yes environment is a heavy influence in all decisions but none the less, they choose to be there. The purpose is not to go into the actors heads either.

Sadly, there are victims that do get raped and then put into "porn".

For the most part though, people are just trying to get some bang for a buck.
