When Phoenix the Rooster was crowing yesterday, there was a lull in the fighting as well.
The morning is likely a transition period to move the soldiers out who are best at night fighting, and move in the day grunts.
But, like you, I also hope they've adhered to calls for a ceasefire... unfortunately, much of my jaded side thinks that's just not going to
happen.
Israel has often declared Hamas to be members of the general public... but then turns around and says it's not going to stop until Hamas is
completely wiped out.
They also said at the beginning of this that they'd never consider occupying Gaza... yesterday I read a report stating they were thinking of a 4th
phase which involved total military occupation.
I don't think Israel is going to be giving up their land grab just yet.
(Is it too early to call it a land grab?)
