Its being abhored like landmines. Cluster munitions are being left behind and blow a kid's leg or arm. New technology allows cluster submunitions to self destruct. Kids don't know that its dangerous since it looks innocent and mistaken for a toy.

I would say your ignorant in your tolerance of targeting civilians to "bring your enemies to their knees".

Any real proof of cluster bombs used in dense populated areas of Gaza? I would think since Israel is doing a ground war too that would be a stupid move on their part.

So the 3000 plus civilians killed in Iraq every month for five plus years by those against the US involvement, are they war crimes too, or are those deaths ok since they are used to reverse anything the US is trying to accomplish?

So far, I've seen dumbass claims that White Phosphorous is against the Geneva Conventions. Incorrect.

I've seen claims that cluster bombs are against the Geneva Conventions. Incorrect.

Legal debate over white phosphorus:

The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, not the Chemical Weapons Convention, goes on, in its Protocol III, to prohibit the use of all air-delivered incendiary weapons against civilian populations, or for indiscriminate incendiary attacks against military forces co-located with civilians. However, that protocol also specifically excludes weapons whose incendiary effects are secondary, such as smoke grenades. This has often been read as excluding white phosphorus munitions from this protocol, as well. Several countries, including the United States and Israel, are not signatories to Protocol III.

Legal debate over cluster munitions:

The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) is an international treaty that prohibits the use of cluster bombs, a type of weapon which scatters submunitions ("bomblets") over an area. The convention was adopted on 30 May 2008 in Dublin, and was opened for signature on 3 December 2008 in Oslo. It will enter into force after it has been ratified by 30 states; as of 8 December 2008, 4 states have ratified it and another 90 have signed but not yet ratified it.

The treaty was opposed by a number of countries that produce or stockpile significant amounts of cluster munitions, including China, Russia, the United States, India, Israel, Pakistan and Brazil.

have you notice the countries that use these weapons are also the only ones not to sign in the banning of them

`its ok we didn`t sign the law so we will use them`

does that mean i can give north korea nuclear bombs since they didn`t sign the NPT - you know like israel has them

If you fight, you bring everything you have, and ideally, which Israel is not doing, you pound everything that moves.

Maybe the population of Gaza will not find Hamas so good for their population.

You seem so certain that Israel is not using white phosphorous and that cluster bombs are not inhumane, I'd like to see evidence with which you can disprove or prove this.

Okay, let Israel 'pound everything that moves' then let the world court try them for war crimes, seems fair.

Yes and I noticed that many of these countries are the ones who sell these munitions to other countries.

Signing any of those treaties is bad for business.

The purpose of the cluster munitions is to detonate possible threats in the area that has been targeted so that ground forces can move in with little worry of mines or IEDs in the area. It does not completely eliminate the threat, however it will minimize this threat as well as help clear the area of any enemy ground forces that may be in the area. In addition, as has been stated, current cluster munitions are set to detonate all cluster bombs in a timed fashion to reduce the risk of unexploded ordinance in an area, though as with all battlefields there will always be unexploded ordinance that will be left behind and everyone should be aware of this and that is not limited to cluster munitions but all munitions that are used on the battlefield.

As to the events that are unfolding in Gaza, well, I'm not one for war but in my opinion Israel is justified in reoccupying Gaza in a limited fashion to confiscate or destroy the rockets and mortors that have been used against them and to seal off all smuggeling tunnels and routes that are used to bring in these and other munitions. And they are justified in using overwhelming force to do so since diplomatic solutions have gone nowhere.

In truth, to end the fighting an international monitoring force must be established to ensure all fighting is stopped between both Israel and the Palestinians. The nations that should make up this force should consist of US, UK, Russian, and Chinese forces to ensure some form of neutrality.

Those are my two cents.

Work too well?

What?!

Germany reunited peacefully in 1989 at the end of the Cold War and has integrated peacefully into the EU.

Now how did that not work too well?

They aren't allowed to leave.
Israel shoots any Palestinians trying to get out and "move away from such freaks". (As will Egypt now).

They'll be shot by Israel and Egypt for crossing the border on foot.

They'll be sunk by Israel if they try to get away on boats.

They'll be shot down if they try to get out by air. (If they can even access the airport which is under Israeli control.)

So the civilians are trapped in Gaza with Hamas whether they like it or not... they can't leave, they have no-where to hide... Hamas has the guns, Israel has the bombs, tanks, and artillery.

... and Israel is targeting them all.

Does that paint a clearer picture?

It was either msnbc, or fox news I was going threw the channels, and saw Israeli air craft dropping cluster bombs right there for you to see, it was night time, and you saw them explode in the air into lots of little things, then would hit the ground and they would explode.

UN MONITORS GET BOMBED BY ISRAEL

Four United Nations observers have been killed in an Israeli air strike on an observation post in south Lebanon.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said he was "shocked" at the "apparently deliberate targeting" of the post. Israel has expressed "deep regret".

the UN were in the region until Israel bombed them out.

Right "that is WAR!" and guess what else?

Its pure evil lol.
Its murder. Its Wrong.

Both sides are war criminals.
Both sides are insane.
Both sides lust for blood.

They are evil, in its purest sense.

And you justifying it by saying "But its WAR!" shows you do not think critically at all.

Heres a great example for you.
Lets say Bob kills your child, and you QQ about it.
And then Bob says "But is MURDER! deal with it panzy!"
See, its justified now right? Cuz its murder and thats how murder works. Therefore Bob is justified in his murder.

You do realize that justification is BS right?
Because murder is always wrong no matter what BS you say to make it seem ok.

Cluster bombs are often used to clear mined area. It is well known the Palestinians mined areas where they expected the Israelis to cross into Gaza.
