Reports suggest Israeli forces using cluster bombs in Gaza

Haaretz reports that, as Israeli ground forces entered Gaza yesterday, “hundreds of shells were fired, including cluster bombs aimed at open areas.”

“The use of cluster bombs — which have a large footprint when initially dropped and then remain a threat for decades — in a location like the Gaza Strip which is so packed with people is horrifying.”

Israel's cumulative actions have left me with nothing else to think than this is a terrorist nation that exists thanks to the support of the USA and other western nations.

They claim to be the victims so often. They play the Holocost card when ever they can. Yet the holocost seems to have taught thme nothing about how to treat 'others'.

Yes, Palestine needs to find other ways to deal with the threat of Israel other than killing, but there is no comparison between the violence perpetuated by Israel and Palestine.

Cluster bombs on populated areas? And Israel cries about rockets fired into their cities? Pathetic.

You can count me as one citizen of the USA who is opposed to the nation of Israel. I will no longer support this nation in any fashion, which makes me sad because I love Naot Shoes. To be clear though, I will never participate in any action that endangers the people of Israel.

just few minutes ago I read a post on another thread stating that if Israel would want to hurt civilians they would throw the cluster bombs.

I am pretty sure that now, he is going to say that "they would use the nuke".

I would say your ignorant in your tolerance of targeting civilians to "bring your enemies to their knees".

You may want to pay a little attention to something called WAR CRIMES

War crimes are "violations of the laws or customs of war", including but not limited to "murder, the ill-treatment or deportation of civilian residents of an occupied territory to slave labor camps", "the murder or ill-treatment of prisoners of war", the killing of hostages, "the wanton destruction of cities, towns and villages, and any devastation not justified by military necessity".

Did Israel sign the ban against Cluster Bombs that was brought up a while ago?

Also, some of the CBUs will detonate on their own after a short period of time. Did anyone check if these were the ones that were used?

Pardon my ignorance but what is wrong with using cluster bombs ?

Israel has used depleted uranium ammo, now clusters and next they will be using daisy cutters.

If Hamas rockets still don't stop than i guess mini-nuke might be an option for israel.

These cluster bombs are now electronicaly disarmed if nor detonated... or remotely detonated if they survive impact.

You have not been following the advances of technology...

it is prohibited in first place. brings damage and kills on large area. and leaves the threat forever in the area affected.

First of all, cluster munitions do not work very well in urban inviornments. They are designed to be used for denial of ground and for use on convoys out in the open. Despite what most here think, the Israeli's are not stupid. Why waste expensive munitions in an urban setting when HE from the barrel of a tank will do more damage and can be pin pointed. Maybe some you arm chair warriors need to do some research before you swallow every bit of anti-Israeli propaganda from the MSM and the clowns called 'Journalists'!!
