I would find that a very large pill to swallow. I wasn't watching GEE at the time, but I do know that it didn't show up on any of the live seismo thumbnails in the park. Granted, when I pulled up GEE about 10 min after the event....it looked like some wierd waves and there were some sharp cracks shortly after (I posted those)....but the ones here didn't show it, and that's controlled by the University of Utah.

We had a sharp jolt in Casper, WY Sat night that I thought was an EQ but nothing showed on USGS. Did you seismo watchers see anything big enough to feel?

Nice one Robin...star for you!! Im a few days behind, i know...been traveling from Arizona to Wisconsin...and was wandering in Bryce Canyon natl park the day of the one in Utah..didnt feel it, and with some of the paths i was on, im glad it didnt shake...walkin under thin ledges and such.

So im going to spend 2 weeks in Yelly in early June, plan on going into the back country...and thinking about wandering out to the Madison Plataeu to the swarm area just for kicks....since theres no comparison pictures, i wont know if what i find is new or not lol....

Yeah, I just doubt it. For one thing, they've not bothered with other 3.x quakes in the area. For another, I caught it within 10 minutes of going up on the map, that red square (which lots of people look at) was still there but there was no evidence on any of the seismos, even the far away ones that wouldn't be number one for censoring, like Montana and Idaho. Thirdly, there's been no significant activity sinse and I'd expect to see a flurry of at least 1 mag quakes after something like that, in that location. I think it legitimately just didn't happen.

A funny little flurry of 1.x quakes at Long Valley today, if you'd like to squint at some different tea leaves for a while.

Is the old faithful webcam down for everyone? I have tried 3 different computers.

It along with all the other steam vents in the picture were all venting at the same time this morning.

Nothing big enough to show up on the earthquake map I guess, but there's a fair amount of popping and fizzing going on at Yellowstone today.

Also see it on YMR:

www.seis.utah.edu...

Actually that one before 8:00 this morning (mountain time) looks like it's maybe a 1.x, maybe it will be added later.

Anybody have GEE up with PB207? Puterman?

Looking interesting at the moment on IRIS.

Ohh will crank it up..

None of the PB. stations are showing online for me - nearest I can get is the Lake and GEE, for some reason, not loading data

What are the best stations to watch for Yellowstone in the GEE program?

I watch B205, B206, B207, B208, and B944 when it is working. These are
the newest bore hole instruments and are subject to less man made
noise. The latest swarm was in the area of B207. To this list I add
YPM, YHB, YHH and YWB for the swarm area.

To cover the Lake area I add YLA, YLT and YTP.

I use YPK to identify mine blasts from the east and YPP for the south
west. You can then scroll up and down since not all these will show at
once. I generally have the B instruments showing on screen.

Hope that helps
NOTE: In GEE YLA is YPLB on the map page, but displays as YLA.

The micro quake activity has been going on for several days at the lake,
but I still don't know if this activity is real earth quakes, or cracking ice
or both.

Thanks for all of that info my friend. Much appreciated.

I have sometimes scanned through these stations, but never really keep them open permanently.. which is something I will change now with the info you've provided. Again, thanks.

Interesting activity outside of our usual swarm locations today.

Another quake in the Intermountain West, in Central Utah
(and a flurry of little ones in Northern Utah)

Generally it looks like we've had some minor earthquake activity (mostly in the 1.x range, apocalypse not now) going on in just about every geothermally active region in the US today. Mt Hood has had another microquake. (Looks like a small swarm going on there.) All the hotspots in Cali are shivering slightly as they have been for months. Only the WA Cascades are quiet. (Thank you, Mt Rainier! Please keep up the good work.) Nothing to obsess about or start making end times predictions, but interesting.

Things are looking a bit....interesting today in the park. A few micro quakes recorded.....when I pulled up the thumbnails I sat up a little straighter and loaded up GEE.

I have learned in the past that before I get excited, check the weather. They have a storm advisory for today, so I am going to assume that all that noise is the wind. Having said that, GEE seems to be picking up low level activity (constant pretty much) on several stations....that is NOT the wind. Old Faithful cam right now is not so faithful.

Whatchya all think?

hmmm.

Maybe puterman can tell us what it sounds like? He can usually sort the noise from the seismic activity.
