The following is not a conceited, egocentric attemt to get attention for self gratifation. Please read knowing I write it with love for all of you. Including the last person that came on this thread only seem to want to be negative. I say the following with respect and my declarations are only to get you to listen to me because I have found something. And that something will affect each one of you in one way or another. It will affect your childern and their children. I am going to rant and I'm going to insist with every fiber of my being that I am right, and what I know needs to be investigated and spread to others. To everyone. You need to listen. I was right. And I was ahead of everyone. Including the YVO.

I had a small debate with True American and I said this most recent swarm should be considered part of the swarm that started in January. From the YVO summary, as of April 6, 2010 a total of 2,347 earthquakes have been automatically located for the entire swarm. It APPEARS that the YVO are counting the April quakes and adding to the total. It seems confusing because the map differentiates the newer activity in blue and the older quakes in red. I believe this is to help show the migration and not to say it unrelated to the start in January.

And that's where I was right and the YVO got it wrong. With deference and an admission that they are the experts, they got the start date of the swarm wrong. Since the first summary, the YVO has said that the swarm began on January 17 2010. It was repeated in each update and I notice that they now acknowledge that the swarm in fact started on January 15th. All along I said they had it wrong. There was activity right near the YMR station before the 17th. There were eleven or thirteen quakes. This may seem minor except I was tell you all here that the quakes started on January 15th as soon as the swarm became obvious. In fact, I predicted the whole thing. On December 29, 2009, I said the swarm would start on the weekend of the 15-17th. That's exactly when the swarm started. It is well documented here that I used the lunar cycle and the start time for the swarm started at the moment of the eclipse. I was right. And the revised start date of the swarm only makes my conviction stronger and more valid. I predicted the start of a swarm which has produce over 2300 earthquakes. That's damned impressive. Remeber no conciet, I'm just being brutal honest- as I have always tried to do.

My little debate with Ture American brought up the defintion of a swarm. I too find it hard to consider a small clump of quakes to be anything noteworthy or a sign of things to come. But one small swarm in particular proves my predictions to be valid. And that was my second prediction. As I tried to convince you here that mine first one was correct and why, I then made a second prediction. I said there may be activity on Feb 13th. I was right. The YVO reported a small, new swarm north of the January swarm which consisted of 17 quakes. Yes that's a small swarm and no one was really impressed. But it was my second in a row. And my first prediction, as it stands now, had 2347, so added together, I was able to accurately predict 2364 earquakes.

I'm not out here jumping up and down trying to be right so you'll notice me an I'll feel better about myself. This is all because I love being right. It's not to stuff my ego. It's because I hate- and fear- being wrong. When I'm wrong I'm the first to admit it. But in this case I have been 100% correct. If this was just about the ability to predict earthquakes, I wouldn't be pleading for your attention. There is so much more. I made a promise that I would try to be focused and stick to Yellowstone. That I did. Obsessively so with no other thought in mind.

If you want to know the other things I have to tell you and why the're important and why your future depends on it, come to the thread Puterman made and look at the map PennyQ made. We're all in this together. Explain it. Make one.

I accurately predicted the second largest swarm recorded at Yellowstone.
Come and ask and I'll tell you more.

Well I have to say Robin that I give you 10 out of 10 for this. It certainly seems that with respect to these items you have been vindicated.

Does this now mean that this extended swarm is heading towards being the largest in the history (recent) of Yellowstone?

Speaking of the extended swarm, there are a couple of missing quakes.
I noticed that on April 4 after 3.3 magnitude quake hit, it was a very
short time and the quake list was updated with even very small quakes.

But notice this a partial list of the quakes on this map list:

MAP 1.5 2010/04/04 07:57:25 44.601 -110.993 6.5 11 km ( 7 mi) SE of West Yellowstone, MT
MAP 1.5 2010/04/04 04:16:59 44.598 -110.987 6.4 12 km ( 7 mi) SE of West Yellowstone, MT
MAP 3.3 2010/04/04 03:15:52 44.599 -110.993 5.4 11 km ( 7 mi) SE of West Yellowstone, MT
MAP 1.2 2010/04/04 03:13:14 44.808 -111.416 9.8 29 km ( 18 mi) NW of West Yellowstone, MT
MAP 2.4 2010/04/03 00:10:55 44.593 -111.003 0.9 11 km ( 7 mi) SE of West Yellowstone, MT
MAP 2.4 2010/04/03 00:10:55 44.599 -110.996 6.6 11 km ( 7 mi) SE of West Yellowstone, MT
MAP 1.3 2010/04/02 23:42:28 44.862 -110.686 20.1 20 km ( 12 mi) S of Gardiner, MT

MAP 1.5 2010/04/02 20:34:48 44.598 -110.989 5.7 12 km ( 7 mi) SE of West Yellowstone, MT

MAP 1.0 2010/04/02 11:57:01 44.786 -111.540 11.2 36 km ( 22 mi) NNW of Island Park, ID

On April 2 there is a 1.5 at 20:34:48 shown, however two more quakes
occurred just a little later that are missing. The first one just a little
before 21:19:00 when it showed up on B207 which had count numbers
about 5% less that the 1.5 quake. The next one was a little before
21:59:35 when it showed up on B207, which had count numbers about
70% greater than the 1.5 quake. The S and P arrival times put all
three of these quakes in fairly close proximity to each other.

I have been waiting for them to show up, but that date is just about
to roll off the list.
Here is a picture of them:
www.isthisthingon.org...

The one they list is the blue one. Next is the red one and last is the
green one. Does anyone know of a list that shows them?

Back to Yellowstone

But I would still like to have the URL for the data you sent me. I could
not find that list in the ANSS pages. Thanks

Oops! Sorry - must have been a bf.

The page for that is here and for Yellowstone area I use the delta parameter in the additional parameters with the following:

delta=44.5,-110.5,0,50

That seems to work for me. Alternatively if you want a square search you can use:

Min Lat: 44.11
Max Lat: 45.1
Min Lon: -111.1
Max Lon: -110.0

We are watching, but could we please do it in either the Quake Watch or the Volcano Watch threads?

This thread really is just for Yellowstone. (I don't mean to give offence. Just a polite request)

Thank you very much for the URL. I thought you might answer that it
came from QuakeData!! and that would make me feel bad because I
have not yet looked into that part of your program. My difficulty is my
disk drive is nearly full.

I have been using this list and its format was different than what you posted, thus my curiosity.

:-) my prediction of an great EQ round april 13 could be an hit...

INCOMING CME: Decaying sunspot 1060 delivered a parting shot on April 8th. The active region's magnetic field erupted, sparking a B3-class solar flare and hurling a faint coronal mass ejection (CME) almost directly toward Earth. Geomagnetic disturbances are possible when the cloud arrives on April 11th or 12th.

Quake Data 3.6.0 Build 43 now available

This is sort of an interim as I had hoped to get other things done but I have to spend some time on something else for a while so it may be a few weeks before another release.

  • Separated the vulcanism items onto their own main menu item called Volcano!
  • Added more volcano cams (3 in Iceland alone and 2 on Etna) - Now 28+ cameras in total!!
  • You can now add additional web cams to a 'My Added Web Cams' menu. Go to 'Settings' > 'Cams' to set these up.
  • Added menu items for 'World Clock', 'Antipodes Map' and 'Convert Lat/Lon' on the Tools menu
  • Added menu items for EMSC and Indonesian earthquake info and UK and Pacific network webicorders access page in a sub menu on the renamed Quake Webs menu
  • Made the cam snagger read the image type and create a download of the same type.

Free as always. Go to the link in my signature to get it.

Coming next AutoDRM and USGS Updates as a Windows service

Oh, one important change. hen you LEFT click a menu for a web/cam it will load in your default browser, and if you RIGHT click it will load in the program. This is the reverse of the current system as the IE based web widget is not liking Java very much.

The help has not been updated - I will do that next release.

Thanks for that URL. It is quite informative, however there are many
variables that confuse things. Some seismometers are short period,
others broadband, others long period. The same event looks quite different, or may not show up at all. Still all info helps.

Presently B944 is acting really weird, I have no idea what is going on.

Let me start off by saying I am a newcomer to this website. I discovered it right after the major earthquake in Baja. When I went to the USGS site to get more details, I learned then about the earthquakes at Yellowstone. After doing some additional reading about the seismic activity at Yellowstone, I began to get the feeling that something was terribly wrong. I began searching the internet for someone else who was taking notice and came across this thread. I think ressiv is correct, but I really hope not.

I just took a look at the readings from the Madison River station at Yellowstone and noticed some activity. I do not see this on the USGS site, even though the quake looks fairly significant. In addition, on the UNAVCO website, the GPS velocity vectors show movement around the same coordinates as the recent swarm of Yellowstone quakes. Thank you for allowing me to contribute to this informative and very relevant thread.

Welcome to this thread and thanks for your comments. I am not sure
which activity during the day you are referring to, but if you scan down
the USGS list here: earthquake.usgs.gov...
you will find two quakes in red. One in Spain and the other in Solomon
Islands. If you pick the Solomon Islands quake and click on the date/time
it will take you to a new page. Click on the Scientific and Technical tab,
then click on Theoretical P-wave travel times. If you look at the list
you will see that it would take around 13 min 37 seconds for the P-wave
to arrive at Golden Colorado. If you add that number to the time of the
earthquake 09:40:30 UTC you get 09:54:07 UTC. Now look on the
webcorder you mentioned and notice there is a big green trace that
begins around that time, which is the P-wave. Large quakes like that
show up on seismometers all over the earth. Some of the slower travel-
ing waves don't show up until around 10:26 UTC and continue to around
11:03 UTC.

Check out the quake in Spain.

My apologies if you already know all this, but I was quite happy when
I found that P-wave travel time page. It really helps figuring out what
you are seeing sometimes.

Again welcome

Before I say this I just want to put out there that I am not trying to start a conspiracy or anything this is just an obsevation...

I have stated many times I watch the yellowstone cam on adn off through the day with GEE B208 and others moving in the background. I have through the last six months gotten very good at watching ground movement and what is wind as GEE is running alongside. Today I noticed something odd...
1. The snow cover on the ground from yesterday to today is different
2. The snow cover on the path is different
ok I can explain them away as I have no idea ground temps etc...
3. Today GEE is showing spikes that NORMALLY show movement on the cam and today movement and GEE are not matching up at all as they have all along in the past 6months.

My question, is it possible that maybe they record this live feed and today perhaps they are playing a recording instead of live? It's just strange...
And if it is a recording then one, did the camera die? Or.. I don't know....
Any thoughts?

The one thing I hope the Yellowstone Rangers do when they fix the camera is provide a fixed mount that won't be affected by the wind. It sometimes makes me sea-sick. I have a migraine on the horizon and one look tonight made me nauseous. (is that spell right- i don't care, so you can't spell) I'm sure I'm not the ony one who has complained to them about this problem. The website has been flooded with people thinking the camera shaking was earthquakes. I'll confess, when I first watch the live webcam I thought there was earthquakes. But then I noticed the wind and felt silly. But then I wondered why they hadn't thought about the wind in the first place. As I recall, it's just stuck up on a tree or something like that.

What's going on at Yellowstone?

Spring.
And not much else.
