Thanks for that link. Most interesting and pretty fantastic for someone who studied insects for a living. Pity it does not specifically include YS!

not only that but would they tell us if they did know something? i think not, the gov. will do what it takes to keep mass hysteria down. which makes me wonder about alot of other happenings

politicians and most of the rich have underground "cities" in case of something like this "a global disaster" but i don't think i would want to live either if something happened.

I believe that even they are professionaly monitoring this they will not know it much before any of us. The thing is in this events that it simply has not happend yet EVER in modern history so we really are in deep guessing about what might happen. - St. Helena and other small events has happend but I am talking about the MAYOR event.

You can problery compare it to the TBM issue. Remember all the demonstrations back before it started (all the HYPE) but now people are more relaxed regarding it - most people do not even know that they will do the "Doomsday" experiments again later this year (pretty cool stuff I think). - Samething will happen to Yellowstone if nothing happens soon... people forgets about it and pretend in there little lives that this isnt really an issue for anyone and that it is not worth spending any taxdollars on.

Still I am looking forward to monitor volcanos and earthquakes around the globes in theese days, since something is in my own oppinion going down soon.

Check this link - if this is accurate data it is unbelievable:

www.godlikeproductions.com...

Please note that this graph is only showing earthquakes 6-8 magnitude and that the years 2007 - 2008 is not shown "yet". I have added the information for this years below:

2007: 47 QUAKES 6.0 AND ABOVE
2008: 35 QUAKES 6.0 AND ABOVE

we'd need more than filters. the sun would be blotted out, we'd freeze. nothing would grow, we'd starve. the oceans would create tidal waves, we'd drown. the gov. and the rich would be given time to prepare for their bunkers. we'd be lucky to catch a glimpse of the chaos on cnn

You can download it here:
GEE home page

After you installed and started it, select Real-Time viewer.
Then, when the world map appears, click File>Edit>Station Chooser

From Station Chooser, select "Add Network". A new window will appear
From there, find and click "WY - Yellowstone Wyoming Seismic Network".
Close the "Add Network" window, and from the "Station Chooser" window, scroll stations down until you find those which start with "WY". These are the stations you can also see on the University of Utah Webicorder page.
Select the stations you want with the left mouse button while pressing the Control key on your keyboard to allow multiple selection.
When you're done, under "Orientations" select "All Channels".
Then, under "All Channels" select EHZ.
Close the "Station Chooser" Window, then on the button bar on the world map screen press "Load Real-Time Data".

Then, real time seismic data will start to appear under the Real Time Viewer tab.

Once you figure out how it works you can start adding more stations. Beware though, that other ones may use different channels that you have to select to view realtime data.

Thank you for this, I have done as instructed and copied this too to email to myself.

It tells me the GEE site is down right now.

This would be a good primer for Interpreting Seismograms

Interpreting Seismograms - A Tutorial for the AS-1 Seismograph 1

Larry Braile
Professor, Purdue University

Objective: This tutorial is intended as a resource for the interpretation of seismograms recorded by educational seismographs. The tutorial provides a description of the main features of the Earth that affect seismic wave propagation and therefore controls the character of seismic signals recorded on seismographs. A catalog of selected seismograms is also presented to illustrate the variation in signal properties with distance, magnitude, and depth of focus. After initial visual analysis of an earthquake seismogram, one can often determine additional information about the event by identifying phases (individual arrivals on the seismogram that travel a distinct path through the Earth) and measuring amplitudes to estimate the magnitude of the earthquake.

If you check past seismograph traces archives, background noise and vertical scale are the same as when these signals were much fainter.

And? What about Ireland?

Any one know what this was about? Ireland is reputed to be the least earthquake prone country in the world. There was a very small one a couple of years ago off the east coast.

one thing to bear in mind is that the Mid Atlantic spreading center is to the west, also according to Plate tectonic theory U have mantle convection away from the spreading center just underneath the crust ... so .. even Ireland & the Shetland Islands are under a bit of stress because of this (mantle current stressing straining the area -underside of crust) .. a few earthquakes are not unreasonable .. sometimes this stress finds a release point/path, like an old Fault (think New Madrid Faults/earthquakes in southern US, an extreme example, granted , or perhaps the St. Lawrence seaway in Canada) and the stress will be partially released along the old fault(as it slips)

Here's Mount Washburn shot this morning.

Is that a piece of land across the middle - the dark area? Also is that a layer of fog across the lake in front? Seems to me, I could see that little island better the other day.
Opinions?

Also interesting, is the webcam for Old Faithful, you would think is is cloudy, it is very dark and grey showing right now, not sunny like the Mount Washburn shot.

That dark "line" is the far shore uprise on the other side of the lake and past that is a low land filled with fog like the lake surface its self?

Those are the tops of low clouds you are seeing, keep in mind the camera's at the top of the mountain. This is why it is cloudy in the valley but sunny in the MT. Washburn pic.
