With out going into fear mongering, lets suppose they pulled the feeds so they could study in-depth, an event. Bringing in scientists all around the
web electronically would eat bandwidth communications wise. Now add in all of us trying to sort out the implication and looking at the data at the
same time.
While we're sort of 'in the loop' because we are armchair scientists, and we have an inkling, or an idea of what too look for, we are not the paid
scientists. Its not so say we can't come up equally valid theories, its that we don't have a stack of sheepskins or experience to say 'listen to
us.'
So we have to play it by ear and make our own decisions.
