Is it because we're just watching them now
so closely or what?
Seems like there is alot of stuff still going on!
And at yellowstone, hmm...nah it's nothing!
Fairly sure they would tell us if the quakes
we're continuing, wouldn't they?

P.S. The moon looks pretty cool right now!

If you aren't watching YMP right now, you should be.

Isthisthingon lags behind a little, you can get speedier updates by reloading straight from utah:

www.seis.utah.edu...

Is it windy there? I hope it's windy. Of course, I don't see wind on any other sensors...

According to the stats we could have 8-10 earthquakes a day @YS and still be within the norm background activity. I, in my meger opinion see this past swarm as 1 out of a few signs that say there IS the possibility of an event sometime within the next year or so. We have the water level rising, ground levels swelling, earthquake swarms etc..Now if the swelling happened instantly combined with the earthquake swarms we would know something was up. I've watched AVO for years and have been through 2 volcanic ash dumps; currently we have 3 volcanos on 'advisory' levels and the 1 thing ive learned is these suckers are hard to predict. What I dont understand is that YS is above background activity and has some tell tell signs so why have they not closed the park or at least brought the advisory to yellow just as a precaution? Can we say REVENUE??With this kind of activity anything could happen, even very small that could endanger people. Russia also has 4 volcanos in the orange - Ive never seen that before combined w/ Alaska's 3 in yellow.. HaHa I'm surrounded by 7 volcanos that could erupt at anytime.. Time to break out the shovel and face mask :-)

I'm watching it on GEE. If the calculation for magnitude is approximately the log of the amplitude, these last few have been slightly above 2, yet nothing on USGS. Weird.

Whatever it is isn't local... Shows up on Mary Lake too. That said, if you're referencing those two nearly uniform bumps they weren't that big. There is constant activity in Yellowstone on a normal day.

No, I'm referencing the general thick and bumpy nature of the line on the helicorder, for the past 40 minutes or so. It looks like wind, but I don't see it anywhere but YMP where all the action is.

Not sure how many of you have the History Channel, but there is show on right now called Last Days On Earth. Right after the current commercials they will feature a segment on the Yellowstone caldera.

Just wind. Was far worse yesterday. We discussed it. It's in a mountain pass.

There is some earthquakes at YMP today. These are very close together so I wonder if we are about to see a new swarm start up.

The highest one of them is a 3.3

10 so far.... all right on top of each other

Geeze, guys, calm down! It's certainly possible there could be another swarm, but we're talking about a park that has some 2,000 earthquakes a year when all is well. And it just got shaken up for a week. There are faults everywhere. It's expected that there will be quakes that are part of the natural geology. We're over-reacting to every tick of each Seismograph and it's time to relax a tad -- at least take it down to Defcon 2.
