On the whole "is this normal?" thing...
It has been stated over and over again, in this thread through research, and by officials working on this, that this event is not usual.
Yes, there have been EQ swarms before, they have been measured, well documented and studied.
The difference here is the sheer number and their close proximity to one area.
That is why this event is being watched closely and why it isn't being fobbed off as "just another EQ swarm at Yellowstone".
Nothing about this is predictable. Therefore, any EQ swarm, regardless of size and scale, will be note worthy. That's what UofU Seismology and USGS
live and work for. The fact that this is happening (or has happened, if it is now over) to such an unusual degree just makes it even more worthy of
monitoring because it offers new information and experience.
There are a few other things to contemplate here;
We have never witnessed an eruption at Yellowstone. And every volcano has its own personality, its own signature marks, its own method of sending
messages for translation.
While one geologist or vulcanologist may say a harmonic signal will indicate an imminent eruption, another team will have discovered another location
where the rules of this did not apply.
We have never seen a large Hydrothermal explosion, though we know many have happened at YS since the last eruption. We do not know what the signs
would be before this event.
Again, one person may suggest a harmonic signature would be present, another may suggest that it wouldn't have to be.
We know far too little about this to be able to suggest that it most definitely is a warning of an eruption, and we know little to suggest that it
isn't.
All we can do is look at the data, try our best to understand it as laymen, listen to what the vastly more experienced professionals are saying and
form our own conclusions.
Going over the same discussion again and again in an effort to enforce our "end of days" or (adversely) "there's nothing to worry about" view on
others is a waste of time. Especially when most of us really know squat about it.
A lot of people have worked hard in this thread to bring evidence and develop some actual understanding of the situation. We've managed to keep away
from either the doom or salvation mindset while doing this, so it is a little insulting to see people post basic statements to either effect while
ignoring the actual facts already presented and ideas discussed.
Just my take on it, I'm sure others might disagree.

So, it looks like we're having a dry spell on the activity. Perhaps this is a good time for them to catch up on data. I'll keep looking around for
some more official statements or reports on what has happened so far.
I'd expect they'd use this time to process a lot of data to get a better immediate understanding of what has happened/is happening under the lake.
And maybe that will mean a few press statements to related publications and partner organisations.
I think I'll spend some more time looking at the water outflow data too, it's something I've neglected in the discussion.
