The Firefox add on shows that there have not been any quakes near Yellowstone since around 4 PM yesterday evening...
As far as I know there have not been any since then around that area.

There have been no RSS Alerts from the USGS regarding any quakes above 1 mag since Friday evening. However, it did report a 5.5 in Indonesia today at 3:45am EST. I've checked, and there isn't any RSS for today in relation to Yellowstone. There may have been small ones, but nothing reported thusfar over a 1.

Reports of unusual animal behavior:

scienceblogs.com...

People out here in Yellowstone-land are reporting weird pet and human behavior - moodiness, restlessness, etc. Also some strange wildlife encounters, such as a fox that will not quit barking, flying squirrels very active in daylight and a bull elk running down the highway (should have migrated down the mountain weeks ago, but it came back for some reason), grizzly bears that have not hibernated yet. Waiting to hear from friends in the park about wolves, bison, elk, wintering birds, etc. Adds another dimension to small talk - usually it's just about how much snow we have, how many plows are broken down, etc. Posted by: Elizabeth | January 2, 2009 9:08 AM

I am seeing some wavy patterns again on GEE LKWY. I think we are getting a few shocks in a moment.. If I can go by what happened yesterday.

Very nice.. thank you for that. However, it is not surprising as it will be detectable that there is something going on if you are there. It would be interesting to see if this strange behavior started before all this started to happen... It is difficult to establish now though.

I have come across a great source for Technical White Papers and want to share it with those that may not be familiar with it or those that may want to continue their education in this area.

The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System

Quoting the site "The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a Digital Library portal for researchers in Astronomy and Physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant. The ADS maintains three bibliographic databases containing more than 7.4 million records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and arXiv e-prints. The main body of data in the ADS consists of bibliographic records, which are searchable through highly customizable query forms, and full-text scans of much of the astronomical literature which can be browsed or searched via our full-text search interface. Integrated in its databases, the ADS provides access and pointers to a wealth of external resources, including electronic articles, data catalogs and archives. We currently have links to over 8.1 million records maintained by our collaborators."

In order to get more than just abstracts of articles you will need to create an account which is relatively easy to do. Click on the "Sign On: link in the upper right corner of the page, on the next page, click on the "Account Setup" link in the ifrst sentence, it will ask for an email address which you will use as your account name.

Once you have everything set up, type "Yellowstone" into the Search area and this will bring up a list of 200 abstracts and show a total of 874 documents available, some of the more recent papers are located down around document 98 with interesting titles like...

In my last few trips to Yellowstone, I noticed a sulfur smell in an unusual part of the park, along the east gate road. Sulfur in Yellowstone is not strange, but it is in this location.

Have tried to call some people I know just outside east gate, NO ANSWER, since they run a lodge dating back 100 years, this is a little strange.

Will keep trying to make contact..........this years trip may be a little delayed?

It is still percollating. You have to watch LKWY. Most of the bumps are currently way under MAG 1. This just means everything is free flowing as soon as the system hits a block or is blocked up again the magnitude will start increasing.

At Saint Helens June Lake (JUN)was the best webicorder to see the activity since it was right on top of the action. You would also see the same pattern when dome building was going smoothly ay 9 cubic yards per second the charts were smooth. When the dome building slowed the mag's would register higher until the blockage cleared. This cycle went on for over two years.

In this case LKWY is sitting on the action. LKWY is also dug in better so you will see wind noise when it's really gusting but in a steady wind you get almost no interference. Promontory across the lake does not have the same foundation (you can only get to it by boat so it was set up with what you can hand carry in, no heavy equipment and no cement trucks) If you look at promontory it is still picking up allot of wind.

I don't know how to feel about the activity slowing down. I mean I am GLAD that it has, but I have heard different things about what this could mean. Quiet before the storm??? Time will tell I guess.

How many of you have been to Yellowstone? It is one of my favorite places on the planet, SOOOO beautiful!

Quick side Yellowstone story:

In 2005 My wife and I took our then 5yo daughter, Magnolia, on a camping trip to Yellowstone for my birthday in July. My mother-in-law met us there and we camped at Madison River campsite. On the night of my birthday, the wife and I left the girl with my Mother-in-Law and drove down to the Old Faithful Inn for dinner and drinks. We started talking to our waiter, who was from Poland, about our time we had spent working at Crater Lake. We told him that we had many friends from that time who were also from Poland. He invited us to hang out for drinks at the bar when he got off. We agreed. We meet up with him and several other park employees. We closed the bar down, but since we were with park employees, they just made us step out the back door of the bar with our drinks. So about five of us wandered toward the sidewalks around Old Faithful. We had been standing there talking and drinking when all of the sudden Old Faithful went off. It was about 2:30am, a full moon and perfectly clear, so we could see it all. An unbeleivable late night private showing of Old Faithful under a full moon. One of my favorite memories.

Sorry for the off topic post! I hope Yellowstone is around for a good long while.

What I find interesting that in reading many Reports about "tremors" is that I have not once seen one post on the Magnetic north shift that is happening in relation to the "recent volcanic and seismic activity" around the globe. (I could of missed it)
www.nasa.gov...
The Shift has increased in recent history. One would guess that if the "earths core" is heading for a flip, that you would start to see the type of activity that is happening around the globe. (Not just Yellowstone). There are Volcano eruptions and quakes in many other regions. Unfortunately, a lot of this has no hard data, nearby sensors, even a person stationed near-by with a darned pen and paper to keep track of it. We are focused on one spot - albeit Yellowstone is in many a backyard. If it goes "boom!" however, it is everyones problem.
Many people are saying "Global warming is the culprit with regard to recent Earthquakes". I ask: "How"? Ocean depth increase? I don't think so. Increase in water tables/aquifers? Nope. Polar icecap melt . . . is a stretch as well.
Is something happening? Yes. What? Many are trying to figure that out still. I need more information. But correlation between our earth core/magnetic pole shift and recent seismic activity would be a good thing to look harder at. (And looking at other seismic data, not just Yellowstone.)

great find!

no wonder they haven't updated their quakes - they're writing their theses now

well, I must say the titles alone are jaw dropping.

let's post important comprehensible paragraphs on ATS as well if we can.

I'm curious as to whether there are quakes happening in the park right now. It was mentioned the cam movement. I'm watching it too. I don't think it is wind. The cam is mounted on a tree. I've seen it in person. But you can see from the video the steam is blowing from left to right. The cam is rocking from top to bottom instead of swaying side to side.

Any theories as to how this could happen without it being quake related?

I believe it is only for Windows PC's, as it requires a Windows Media Player plugin to stream. And its been streaming some nice footage today.
