Religion will never end ever. Humans will always have beliefs and opinions. Even when facts are shoved in their faces humans refuse to accept reality.

A good example is this thread.

People are so caught up in their "anti theist" zeal they are blind to facts and reality. Scapegoating religion or in actuality Theism is nothing but misdirection and blindly refusing to accept the truth.

You want the truth, Look in a mirror.

The Truth is that humans are the problem. Rather than face that truth, people scapegoat anything else but their own selves. The truth is the human race is corrupt, selfish, and irrational.

When you pick up a photograph of your friends and family, what do you look at first? Humans always look first at themselves. They ignore everything around them.

Here is the cold hard truth and a paradox.

If the human species is to survive, it has to cease being human. Ultimately the human ego is the driving force behind this insanity of self importance, pride, and refusing to accept the truth.

I do not expect to convince anyone of any of this. The vast majority of the human species is so caught up in it's illusion of self importance it refuses to open it's eyes to actual reality.

Even when faced with death and extinction it will refuse to accept the truth. It will scapegoat everything and absolutely refuse to accept anything acknowledging their position as the source of their own destruction.

I now return you to your incoherent babbling and accusations. Good luck in that crusade to rid the world of religion.

I'm not intending my statement to be advocating genocide of the human species. I'm just trying to point out the obvious, that humans are the source of their problems.

You are right that for humans to change it would require changes in the human mind. That could potentially be accomplished through some form of nanotechnology like you mentioned.

I think a more plausible form might be psychochemical compounds, genetic doping through stem cells, and maybe the use of various electromagnetic waves and frequencies to alter the mind.

If anyone of you think that the human mind will need artificial altering to make them more peaceful, then that proves that we aren't the rightful owners of this planet but the animals.

We deserve nothing but extinction and let all living things live happily ever after. After all, humans, are responsible for the extinction of many animal and plant species.

You can't count on human mind altering because many will use it for their advantage, to rule the world without resistance, perhaps?

HERE HERE my hats off to OP, religion was a fantasy myth used to control humans back in the dark ages when we couldn't explain our world, prior to science and logic. We now have science to tell us how the universe works, we don't need anymore fairytales. It would be one thing if religion was used to teach compassion and love, instead its a tool used to manipulate people into hating. it uses fantasy to encourage hate and discrimination instead of promoting love and peace, its used as an excuse to spread HATE. look at what the pope just said the other day about homosexuals, if you really do believe in Jesus and god is love he wouldn't want you to hate and discriminate people for the way god made them. LOVE AND PEACE not HATE and PREJUDICE.

Hey, I totally agree with you; Religion=control, & a FALSE sense of belonging, right, & meaning. Emoviornmentalist? I hope to god you're being sarcastic and I'm just not picking up on it. I know people like that exist though, and this attitude really gets under my skin. One of the major problems I have with religion is that too often it requires humanity to beg and grovel and repent for being what we are... what we were created as. I offer no apologies and bear no shame for being human.

The OP has already given his reasons why he thinks religions should end and perhaps there lies the real problem and not the religious aspect as first it seems.

I understand that the OP has had certain negative life experiences that have led to his desire to abolish religion, and I agree they are the real problem, not religion per se.

Yes the OP has stated that in his opinion, religion should come to an end.

How will that statement effect you now? Now don't jump into the what-if's that has not happened, just ask yourself this, has the OP's statement hindered, or prevented you from carrying out your right to follow your faith or belief? You will still be free to carry out your faith unrestricted when you wake up tomorrow despite what the Opening Poster has stated.

These same words could have been written in Germany in the 1930s. Hate-based rhetoric, if left unchecked, can lead to repression, persecution and even eventual mass murder.

One of the main tragic mistakes that led to the rise of Hitler was that the state did not forbid and rigorously stamp out the activities of a party whose sole aim was to subvert the system that guaranteed freedom and tolerance.

Therefore whenever fascist-style 'abolish this or that belief/practice' rears its ugly head it needs to be stamped on by those who cherish the freedoms they enjoy.

I just sat with my daughter and watched the Bill Maher movie "Religulous" about religion, and although I know he hand picked the wackiest of all people to put in his film and did some creative editing to boost the point, the bottom line is the point is correct.

War, Policy, and pretty much everything else that effects the growth of man as a species is driven by people who use religion to direct them.

Religion must stop, end of story. Logic and common sense are the only things you should look to when you are faced with a problem.

Oh and guess what, logic tells me I just got a whole bunch of people angry, and they are going to want to debate me on this. There was a program on tv this morning discussing the amount of money, GODS churches (organisations) get , annually also assets. Surprise, surprise this information is just not coming forward. Those that know were not available, and those that were available could not comment because their info was limited and so would be unfair to speculate.
The researcher ,assumed by working on a basis of the amount of xxx churches,synagogues or mosques, by xxxx populations by xxx money etc in each country, he could come up with figures that he would show those in authority to see their reactions in regards to speculations as to what he thought they would be, there is certainly a lot of money being given to the religious organisations through governments and charitable donations, funny eh, they want and have all your details BUT the RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS do NOT want to give out info on YOUR money that has been given to them.
The church (religious organisations) are holding our money, maybe this would be used to pay off the woldwide debts that was allowed to occur by those in power? after all is,nt the purpose of the religious organisations to help the poor, now is their chance to do it.

I think definitions are important. I define religion as a strong set of beliefs backed by action. Those who believe in Christianity back it with action - in some way, shape or form. Same with Islam . . . 'Capitalism' and 'Communism' were two different belief systems that were backed by action, not commonly called religions, but I believe they were/are. I have found there to be one dominant and supreme religion that permeates the planet, the religion of racism/white supremacy.

This religion is responsible for the planet as we see it today. It is the racists white supremacists who produced the technology that has damaged the earth's environment, the atomic weapon, AIDS, country's lines. The world strategically maps out such as a billiards game. One white ball set opposite inverted non-white balls in a feminine manner (inverted delta) and knocked into chaos using a huge phallic symbol striking the white ball. At this point, once the game has started - the white ball systematically knocks off the non-white balls - often using other non-white balls to do this.

Racist man and woman manipulate non-whites to knock off non-whites ie kill or mistreat non-whites. We see this commonly in non-white areas using weapons of the racists - AK47s, Glocks etc. The AK which was the production of what was touted as potentially World War 3 (the cold war) - Russians never fought the USA directly, instead they played a game of pool - using non-whites to do their bidding. 'Communism' and 'Capitalism' seems merely a game of carving up the non-white world. ie N S Vietnam, N S Korea, Cuba etc etc.

If one studies the spread of Christianity and Islam the same parallel will be observed. Two different methods of dominating non-whites. It has been a long time in practice - possibly millenia. It seems the racist man and woman promote white supremacy to prevent white genetic annihilation, the natural outcome of mixing between whites and non-whites. Racism is not natural - hence the technologies to compensate and attempt to stay a step ahead of nature. The automobile is an excellent example.

To maintain/promote racism the racists must accomplish much work - the automobile i suspect was developed out of the need for the racists to be more places more effectively. It was productive in promoting racism, but the consequences are evident. The needed fuels have robbed the earth and it seems as nature always does - compensation is near.

I suspect the talk of going 'green' will allow the racists to more effectively and 'cleanly' practice racism. Until this ends the world will not know peace - and the system is already AWESOME. Those in the position of power are in the best position to 'help' (NGOs, UN) but they take the resources from the mistreatment of non-whites to keep them on life support through 'help'

We have to end this for our children - the longer we wait, the harder the compensation from nature will be on our children. but first, as so well put in the film Network - we have got to get MAD!!!!!!!!

What you folks aren't considering, is that religious inculcation is started at very early childhood: at this time, the programing goes deep, and becomes part of the genetic makeup, and it is not removable!

Over-ridden, partially, yes. But the programed person is forever infected, and this is like a virus that crashes the systems' other operating funcitons, slows it down enough so that it finally is worthless to itself: no higher escape velocity can be reached, at least without an enormous internal struggle.

Been there, done that...

You will not achieve the higher purpose of human existence with this programing operating within you, either as a quietly running back-ground corruption, or on active mode (10% please...).

These are facts: religious dogma slaves are not true members of mankind, but subverted throwbacks to an outworn, useless mode.

Remember, jesu-&-company loves you. Wanna go to heaven, right? Then let us make this life of your's & everybody you meet, Hell, give us 10-20% of what you earn, and we will save you a place! What a deal! See you sunday (bring your wallet & children).

Im an Atheist and i am not really against religion per say, but what it has become. Having something to believe in is fine and even a nessisity for some people. Some people just just think that "without enforcement of 'law'(gods word/hell) there would be chaos" and all that. Some people need something to prey for to get that insperational boost they need to get through a tough time.

However, (in america/canada mostly) corruption in religion is an astronomical problem. Most people dont know what any of their own religion meens and stands for. They dont know why there is christmas, why their is easter, and so on because its been manipulated by corperations and society in a form that does in-fact brain was people (in a sense).

But! that doesnt meen that religion is wrong and not needed. Many religions stand for great good, "believe in your fellow man" "love your nabour" and so on. But there is also the great negatives of scientific illiteracy, ignorance, wars... However, all these negatives would still exist with-out religion. The lack of all religion wont solve any problems, just as is with everyone being religious. Both of them have very strong negative points.

I agree. If anyone hasn't seen Bill Maher before take a look on youtube he is insightful.

Religion is acceptable discrimination, indoctrination of children and the acceptance of fairy tales and idiocy where rationality is needed.

Saying this It would be impossible to remove suddenly. A long process of religion slowly becoming less important would remove its hold. This is constantly being done in the progression of science, but we need to make people more involved in science as any further developments are likely to be unfathomable for the average person.

Less media coverage, negative stories, restricting using laws/policies. Generally more intellectualism and targeting the needs of why people require a diety.

I don't mean blanket ban or restriction. I would not support that. But policy or law that shows that religion should not have such a negative influence. I.e. Gay marriage is entirely a religious topic for those opposing it.

Anyway religion is the root of many problems. It's not the only one. I agree with the OP but there is no easy way to remove this problem. Although, some European countries are 50% atheist so it would be possible to see how and target these trends to more religious countries like America.
