I apologize, I realize this is from several pages back, though since I don't plan to read every one, and this individual is extremely irritating, I'm going to bring it up:

if they can't stop two shoes in a row, then they can't stop something else.. so whatever kid.
it's dangerous.. and is intolerable for our secret service to be so incompetent.

The fact that the only thing the reporter had, or could have had, were his shoes, is proof that security measures work. How many times has Bush been in Iraq? How many bombs have been thrown, or tucked beneath his convoy?

And it's not as though the Secret Service has had a sterling record. Do not research yourself.

these are the highest payed most skilled guards in the world.

Something in my brain just ignited into flames.

you're saying "hay man.. it was just two shoes that went exactly where his head was thats all man.. it's okaaay.. come one just some shoes.. come one maaan hey dont sweat it...

that what you're saying "jeri" boy?

Grow up.

Also, yes. It's just some shoes. Did you see anyone pull a gun? And what were the secret service supposed to do? How many times do you see someone rip off their shoe to throw it?

After the first shoe, I wouldn't be surprised if they were confused about what just went on -- Or searching for immediate dangers in case the shoes were a distraction.

What's the alternative to wading through a sea of reporters to tackle the guy -- No way in Hell would anyone risk shooting him, for what little remains of Bush's ratings.

Very true. Saddam had a tile floor made for one of the luxury hotels in Baghdad featuring the face of George Bush Sr. The whole point of it was so that people would walk on it all day long, it is highly insulting in the Arab world. In fact it is considered rude to sit in such a way that the soles of your shoes face those you are sitting with.

Lol well Bush has just today after yesterdays debunkle gone to Afghanistan, and all the reporters kept their shoes on.

And apparently the Press before the event, jokingly tried to pressure one of the TV Reporters to throw some more shoes at him when he arrived!

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Afghan journalists kept their shoes on.

A day after an Iraqi reporter hurled a pair of shoes at President George W. Bush, the American leader on Monday again held a news conference before a group of reporters from a country that the U.S. invaded under his watch.

Afghan reporters had gathered at the presidential palace in the capital, Kabul, at 6 a.m. on Monday for an 8 a.m. news conference by Bush and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

And that left plenty of time for shoe jokes.

Some of the reporters — a collegial bunch that sees one another several times a week — egged on one of their colleagues, jokingly trying to pressure the television reporter into taking off his shoe and hurling it once the U.S. president arrived.

Associated Press

I just imagine what would have happened if someone else did it.

It seems that nothing has changed with the security on his press conferences then.

Kind Regards,

Elf.

LOL...well what are they going to do about it? Confiscate everyones shoes before they enter the press conference? That would be even funnier, having the entire audience sitting their in their socks so as to prevent another incident.

"I don't know what his beef is." "I guess he wanted attention." "He must have been upset at something."

Does he just get more clueless with each passing hour or what?

1. His beef COULD BE that he is sick of you using our military to secure *your* agendas.

2. Ya think? Throwing shoes at a president in front of cameras is certainly a way to do that.

3. Hmm... I didn't think the guy appeared to be upset at all.

I'll give the dude this.. he has more guts in his aim than the ppl here have in their peace marches

this incident will probably go down in history as part of bush's legacy. also,mr. bush can dodge one pair of shoes, but he has to worry about the millions of copycats in the future.

Knowing how they created enough fear into their own by white flag terrorism with inside job 9/11. and then everyone almost taking their clothes off at security point in airports, for this false terrorism bullpoo.

You wouldn't be surprised if The US government would now make people take off thier shoes at public convention's. for the shoe throwing incident.

*snip* The world is calling it already. I say let the karma wheel begin

It is not a good idea to post stuff that. You can find the Secret Service knocking on your door before you know it (I am not joking, they do followup on even the lamest internet threats, they once contacted my web host when someone posted a silly cartoon gif file of Bush Senior's head exploding).

I gotta give it to him for quick reflexes. It is the most impressive thing I saw him do. He must have been good at dodge ball. The journalist would have been a lot more successful with a hand recorder, but then again he probably figured it is not worth the price of the recorder or a camera.

All in all this is one of the most surreal things I have ever seen. We have on video a person throwing a pair of shoes at the President Of The United States Of America.
Is this an SCTV sketch? Was that really Dave Thomas and Eugene Levy?

In related news, George W Bush is a Sith Lord, fully trained in the ways of the Force.
1) He "knew" the first shoe was coming before it happened and calmly got out of the way.
2) As the second shoe was flying towards his head, Mr. Bush, with a mere subtle wave of his hand, changed the flight pattern of said shoe.

Surreal.

Yeah, the insult was said in Arabic and because Bush is fluent in Arabic I'm sure he just laughed it right off. Not.
