exactly. What I am baffled at is if he is going to "change" america, why didn't he change the state of illinois, at ALL?

The only thing I can think of is if he is clean (which is something that I do somewhat doubt now, and I did vote for him) ... that he didn't get involved at all so as to avoid having any ties whatsoever. You know the machine, if he had presidential ambitions and tried to clean up Chicago there is a very good chance he'd have to get his hands dirty and appoint a judge to his cabinet in order to put away a governor or help out the police in some way to take down an alderman. It seems like his entire campaign the only ghost in his closet politically is Rezko (and it's a tenuous link at best). I wouldn't doubt that he purposely focused on community projects that were under the radar from the majority of the corruption.

We'll just have to see how it all plays out.

One thing I've already thought out. What happens if Blago leaks something that Obama did ... right before is to be sworn in ... that would certainly throw this country for a loop ...

Admitedly, I am a Republican. However, if that happens, or it is found out later that he did something, then I think it is time for America to stand up and say we want some real f'n change. Red, Blue, no more. Provide a third, or fourth candidate, make the Republicans and Democrats cater to us, and not to themselves. Honestly, that is the only way I see change happening, we need more options, and I think America is on the verge of realizing this. I do hope I am wrong about Obama, I truly do, I just can't see how I could be. And I know Blag. was mad at Obama, but perhaps that is because of a prior relationship. maybe Blag. helped out Obama earlier; and even if not, how does Obama go from State Senator, US Senator, to Prez in only 12 years, 8 of which he spent in the Illinois senate, without having ties to anyone?

The funny thing about Barack is that, I believe, he would have lost the seat if Ditka would have actually run for Senate instead of backing out.

I dunno, we will see.

I just watched a little of the press conference regarding the Governors arrest. The FBI had been tapping his phone lines for quite some time. Based on what was said during the P.C. this guy is a greedy scum bag. They have a mile long laundry list on this guy. I just hope they can secure enough witnesses to back up all of the recorded conversations. I am sure many heads are about to roll and everyone involved is going to look out for themselves. Lets back that bus over the governor one more time.

Politics, what fun. I wonder if any of this will eventually lead to Obama? These are his hometown people.

Yes i believe it will, I doubt he will ever serve out his four years,

Well, "they" are calling Illinois the most corrupt state in the America

Really? The most corrupt? I mean, I have heard a zillion complaints from those I know who live there....but obviousy didnt know how bad it really was until - this broke. And those very people screamed so loudly that Obama comes from the same plate, etc.

So, why didnt the Senator start cracking down on all these corrupte people? He HAD to have known about it all. Right?

Again, I will admit, I may not know enough about the position. And my mind could be just running in a zillion different conpsiracy circles right now
so, I could be way out in left field.

Just the thoughts im having while this all unfolds.

Why do you think I have been screaming so loud,

PLEASE DON'T ELECT A DIRTY ILLINOIS POLITICIAN PRESIDENT

My honest opinion. Obama "survived" Chicago Politics. He didn't involve himself in the "machinery" here because frankly he had ambitions to move further along and didn't want the baggage.

Your opinion seems logical and very reasonable and probably even correct. However, I wonder if anybody has dirt on Obama when he was green behind the ears. Just wondering. And now that this governor is being charged, Is he capable of bringing down a lot of people with him? I am just about certain this guy has connections and could take down many people if he chose to do so. Just curious question to your admirable opinion.

I think if Obama's rise hadn't been as rapid as it was there would be a stronger liklihood that there was "dirt on him" from Chicago. If he had to kick and scrap it up in Chicago poltics for any long period of time...it'd be tough to come out unscathed. But he moved QUICKLY and in a grass-roots fashion as opposed to the standard Chicago pay-for-power. By the time Chicago polticians were figuring out they wanted him in their pockets...he was already on his way to DC as a Senator and thinking about a Presidential bid. He didn't need them...they needed him. Morals aside I don't think he was around long enough in a role that required him to play ball.

Like I said he moved quickly on the outskirts of the Machinery. Groundswell/grasroots rather than power brokering.

As for Blago taking other people down with him? George Ryan was old school and talked little, Blago however, for some reason I think he will give up anyone and everyone. It should be an interesting time.

The only thing I have to say is, why are there so many questions surrounding barack obama, and he hasn't even taken office yet?

Was he born here?
Was he invovled with Rezko?
Is he somehow intertwined with this Blag?
Tony aires (sp?)?
ACORN?

With all those questions on the board, and the fact that he is from the State of Illinois, it sure seems to me that he falls inline with the rest of them. But who knows.

really its quite RANDOM TIMING. it makes you THINK. like, HOW HIGH DOES THIS GO? For it to get shut down before the investigation revealed more names.............

this is really a sad day for Obama and for America

Change? What type of change is this?

At the same time, this isn't about Obama, this is about corruption. Obama isn't a corrupt guy he is a stand up guy.

But the TIMING is what makes me THINK.

I know it is inevitable that this too becomes an Obama trashing thread, but reasonable though has to enter into it somewhere.

Either a State Senator or US Senator from Illinois has very little ability to "clean up" Illinois pay-to-play politics as it is centered around city and local contracts, the Govs office and the Mayors office.

Ironically the politicians that are best positioned to "Clean up" Chicago politics are Mayor Daly (His father as mayor invented the Chicago Machinery) and the Govenor...the last two of which have been federally charged..Blago on his way to jail and Ryan serving time.

Beyond the Mayor or Govenor we have to rely on the Fibs getting involved.

A Senator from Illinois is isn't involved in the contracts routed through the Mayors and Govs office...

It's an easy slam on Obama as long as you don't think too hard and I expect more of it to come...as it always does on ATS.

Is he somehow intertwined with this Blag? Genuinely doubt it and the Feds have publically stated they don't have any evidence he is.
Tony aires (sp?)? Much has been written on this. My opinion is it was a real reach by the McCain camp. But you can look it up on your own. Ayers is the spelling
ACORN? The group originally paid it's employees as per how many folks they registered to vote, so naturally some of the ACORN crew falsified who they registered/made up names in order to collect more money.

Answers above in bold. Hope it helps. You did want answers to those questions ..right?

I don't think the timing is coincidental in the slightest, and they probably have damaging info on any politician in office right now. Don't assume one side is more corrupt than the other, or you are caught in the game that has been set up for you to defend your own "side" when we don't have one really.

They didn't just get the recordings today and decided to act.

I am tempted to say they are all basically corrupt, complicit, or enabling corruption but then I remember that recent study that showed that "power does not corrupt" and realize that this particular man is in the minority.

Only like 0.5% of all politicians are corrupt.

Hrum...Blago makes a move against BOA and then on the morning after his 3 year old corruption investigation wraps up and they are pressing charges against him seems that he upset those ever sensitive elite bankers they were sending a message directly to anyone else who starts to look into their dealings:"Don't screw with us or you will either in jail or killed."

There must be a "control file" on just about every major politician in America. Cooperate or look the other way or they pull your file. Just think about all the illegal wiretapping and data mining in the last few years.

It appears that there is not much democracy left in America. Even major news channels take money for government produced "news". I think that some conservative radio talk personalities take money under the table for "talking points".

Major medical journals take orders for reprints of issues that have positive reviews of drug companies pharmaceauticals. I guess they just take the money and throw the reprints in the garbage.

Remember when all the expert ex military people were making the rounds on the news. They were being paid by the govt. for their expert viewpoints.

Some preachers are reportedly receiving regular checks from the govt. Local police chiefs have been bribed with cash for federalizing their force.

Blago however, for some reason I think he will give up anyone and everyone. It should be an interesting time.

After seeing him on TV, I have the impression that he is an arrogant, big mouth blowhard who will sing like a bird if he thinks he will be able to make a deal and escape a prison sentence. He doesn't appear to me to be one that could "adjust" to prison life.

It will be interesting, that's for sure.

If anyone has posted this already, I apologize. When you start talking about political corruption and banks in Chicago, you are getting into Sherman Skolnick territory. Sadly, Mr. Skolnick, a man who should be in the CTer's hall of fame, is not around anymore to do his own investigation of this latest dust up in Chicago.

I'm including this info below to direct people to backround material on Chicago corruption put together by one of the most famous crime fighters of recent times, Sherman "the judge jailer" Skolnick.

www.thebirdman.org...&NWO/+Doc-ConspiracyTheory-SecretSocieties&NWOOrganizations/TheYakuzaConnection-Skol nick.htm

Then, as now, most of the federal appeals judges in Chicago, as well as around the nation, are tied to the Federal Reserve and the banking system. And by the way, Judges like to own banks right near their Courthouse. From the federal courthouse in Chicago, the Banker-Judges have full view of the rear entrance of Continental, now merged with Bank of America, owned principally by the Rothschilds, the Jesuits, jointly now with the Yakuza

Ding, Ding, Ding....we have a winner.

Arrogant is putting it mildly. He's a jerk, plain and simple. Personally, I hope he becomes someones *cough* girlfriend in prison.

I sure wish the other 49 states (or 56 if you're Obama), knew this guy for who he really is. Take our (Illinois) word for it. This BoA thing is coincidental at best. He was getting ready to fill the vacancy and they had the goods to stick it to him. Go Fitz, Go.

Yeah just heard that on the BBC.

BIG SURPRISE, no mention of him suspending business with the Bank of America. They're keeping that part quiet. Only that he is going down on corruption charges.

They acted really fast on this one as a warning to anybody contemplating the same, poor guy.

er.. maybe theres a bit more thought put into it than what it appears to be on face value.

maybe that since america's meltdown is so massive and so large..
that they actually...hmmm.. HIRED SOME ECONOMISTS and actually had them FORECAST what would actually happen...

like people in the higher areas of local government, MAKING DECISIONS... that may or may not be congruent with even HIGHER power's plans.

possibly knowing that that could happen on a massive scale, they took that obviously important and relavent forecasting data.. and pulled off a little theatrics...
where one day a Governor says he "halts businesss with a bank"
then the next he is in jail.

how convenient

sends a message now doesnt it?

you'd think that governors would see the danger present before seeing this story.. and band up and do it all together .. in unity.. but nope they've been cut off at the past.. and it's been played out.. to show these guys what will happen to them if they even try it.

I bet Blogovitch is in on it.. payed etc..
c'm on it's Illinois.
don't be so naive.

this is staged in order to prevent the exact same thing from happening by sending a message.

o wait top level genius economists that big the highest big bank's big money can buy... aren't smart enough to do that right.

wait let me get back in my plato cave-seat... ooo look at what happen in news today.. that just happen an he shouldn't have doonnne that everything that happens is random and not connected....

It doesn't have to be staged. There is dirt on everybody, the thing is that some people forget that they're dirty because they've been allowed to get away with it for so long. As soon as they step out of line with TPTB the dirt comes to the media.

It's just like that governor of New York who was busted randomly by the feds for some prostitution allegations, and then swiftly a pro Barack governor was installed there to replace him. Like I said there is dirt on everyone, the dirt is only cashed in when it's needed.
