Thanks to Fox News, my mom is convinced that it's unsafe to travel to Europe, as there are terrorists out there specifically targeting "Westerners."

We were planning on going to Germany to visit my brother this summer, but now she is having second thoughts after what happened in Mumbai.

What can I say to make her realize the media is using fear tactics, and blowing the "going for the westerners" comments out of proportion.

China and the rest of the muslim world want to see a nuclear pakistan

hmmm, yea, you're right, but i guess it'll be fair to say that none of them have pakistans best intentions in mind, the sole reason china wants to see a nuclear pakistan is so that it can thwart the growing clout of the indian economy and political power, considering its the second largest and fastest growing economy in the world, the sooner the two countries destroy each other, the better for china, and the rest of the muslim world....their reasons are pretty much obvious to anyone with the slightest knowledge of world politics

There were fresh blasts at Nariman House ...six of them according to "Headlines Today", the terrorists had placed explosives and detonators on dead bodies.

NSG is fearing they have done something similar with the bodies at taj, which seems to have slowed their movements inside the hotel.

it just flashed on Headlines Today...
But no other channels reporting it...
But it seems reasonable as to why NSG is taking slow steps...

Exactly it's a power struggle between the big powers Not a worldwide campaign by islamists to take over the world.

To add abit more to the point,Russia after being through soo much trouble with terrorists it has recently supplied iran and Syria with surface-air missiles to deal with israeli jets.

A guy on bbc news 24 said the terrorists knew the building better than even some of the staff, and a bag found was absolutely jam packed with ammo and grenades.didnt catch it all...But he said something about 22 clips of ak47 ammo in the bag...and they must all have their own bags im guessing. It was bbc news showing an indian news channel when i heard this...

To be fair at one of the press conferences one of the officials did say they were worried about traps on bodies. I can only assume that intercepted communications gave them reason to believe early on they might attempt this.

On a side note I ran across a group that wanted to set India's tourism industry back 10 years; Something quite possibly accomplished the other day... But the group isn't even in the running. Instead they are more for targeting Gao.

Errmmm...

I would like to state that I have made mention of a lot of this stuff from the beginning.
Bombay: Remember me telling the crowd that it appears that it may be that a woman's phone was taken by one of the terrorists escaping towards Bangledesh? You denied it.
Local help. I mentioned it very early on. I couldn't put my finger on who, but I KNEW it.

It also appears that the Pakistanis AND the Lashkar group are vehemenantly denying this ordeal (terrorists like to claim responsibility as they have a keen interest in getting their point across... Liken them to political activists on too much coc aine)

As I said, the Pakistanis would be f-ing insane to allow such an event to originate from their shores. If they had ANYTHING to do with this, it ASSURES their destruction... Entirely. And they know this.
Aside from the bragging, it is becoming apparent that this whole situation is not what it seems.
I just recently saw a report stating that these "Pakistanis" left a boat behind with "credit cards and a gps which was traced back, through navigation, to Pakistan.) Give me a break!!! That is ridiculous! Why in the WIDE, WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS would someone leave Pakistan with credit cards in a BOAT to leave them IN THE BOAT!??!!!! As if they were only using them for the convience stores along the way?!! This is a set-up, clear as day.

That only reiterates the point that these were, at least partially, local militants...
Same with the hospital that the "terrorists" escaped from BEHIND the local Police... After killing the counter terrorism chief, that is.

Okay, so I have been watching this for quite some time now and I am currently watching the cnn.com/live feed of IBN. They are reporting explosions and gunshots still going on at the Taj. How long is this going to go on?

I would have surely thought that this would have been over by now, it is really making me wonder what is next.

The hotel is huge...like 400 rooms, takes 10 mins to walk from one side to the other, and like i heard someone say on the indian news, they are saying these people know the building very well and keep moving about.

Don't get hurt patting yourself on the back. I think that it was determined that they weren't heading to Bangladesh but rather a similarly spelled state across the bay from the Mumbai district. But that does raise plenty of questions if the phone was taken by the terrorists; Perhaps they were associated with Riyazuddin Naser and were heading back to Gao or other southern cities.
I think it was pretty evident early on that this wasn't a spur of the moment thing and had to have help from within Mumbai...

But your right, if anyone inside the Pakistani government is behind this they are insane.

I can't say this with absolute positivity, but I really think Pakistan may be getting set up by rogue elements of the government and militants opposed to the democratic government.

This could have a number of effects, as India mobilizes it will pull forces from close to Afghanistan giving relief to the Taliban and Al Qaeda. At the same time the democratic government could be brought down by a coup by military hardliners and ISI chiefs who want to "protect" Pakistan.

They, the ISI and rogue Pakistani military, may be calculating that the West will stop India like it has before, e.g. after the Parliament attacks and Kargil War. So they don't seriously fear any real repercussions from India. They may view the US, NATO, and India as being politically weak.

It has a certain amount of risk, but if they calculate correctly then the democratic government will collapse in Pakistan, the Taliban and Al Qaeda will be once again free to act with impunity, and India will be weakened.

On the other hand, if they calculate wrong....the attacks in Mumbai could very well be the catalyst for a major regional war or even world war.

I'm not really patting myself on the back. This is a sad day. These have been a sad few days now. As far as the Bangledesh connection goes, it is there.
I saw the reports, copy pasted the location off of the news broadcast at the time (directly off of the screen), pasted it to google maps, compared it to their current location and speculated based on their location and the possible routes to determine that they were in direct route from Mumbai towards Bangledesh.

I called that out very early on and it was met with criticism...
It is now evident that some of the terrorists are Bangledeshi's...

I have urged people throughout to be very careful of what they hear on the news. If there is a direction to spin this, they will.
I have also stated, time and time again, that this is most likely not a Pakistani strike. It only serves to reason that if that were the case, Pakistan would be completely cooperative. The supposed group responsible is denying all responsibility...

I'm sorry, people are basing their accusation on things that simply do not add up!!!
Like I said earlier, I intend to be all over this one so HOPEFULLY the media can't spin it. However, I'm just one person....
I mean sure, there are bad guys there who would love to pull this off. Blaming organizations that have ties to their own doesn't make their involvement so.
For instance, (hypothetical situation)... I am in direct opposition to the principles of country x. I would love nothing more than to blow them off the planet. Currently, country y hates me and would like to kill me. Something happens in country y. It would be advantageous for country y to blame me because then they can pit the more powerful country z against me....
See what I'm saying? Probably not. Country A (the media) has warped everyone.

Edit - I messed up my hypothetical situation.

"So they don't seriously fear any real repercussions from India. They may view the US, NATO, and India as being politically weak. "

I understand what you are saying, but that falls short considering the fact that the President-Elect has all but vowed to take the fight further into Pakistan.
Nay, it would have been an outrageous miscalculation. Unacceptable.
Eh, the President-Elect has even outlined a plan for taking the USs aggression into Pakistan. He proposes that we remove troops from Iraq to free them up for Afghanistan and Pakistan... Insane if someone doesn't realize this is a setup. This is just how it works.

The "inside job" part is bringing down the "justified" wrath of US, UK, India on Pakistan. Most likely for the pipeline and control of the regions resources. This whole thing is very strange??? I for one believe they are lying about the body count. I also believe the evidence is planted to implicate Pakistan and as a poster mentioned above Pakistan would have to be out of it's freakin mind to allow this attack. Makes no rational sense.

Oh, there is no doubt they are lying about the body count. We touched on that earlier. The "live" news streams showed the body count at 125 for at least 20 hours.
