I'm a fan of Rep. Paul Broun and if he's worried then you know what? So am I! Imho there is absolutely no need for a civilian military force in the United States, the department of homeland security is doing a fine job of keep these boarders safe and our military is doing it's best to keep our enemies at bay overseas. At this stage of America's evolution it can only hinder our countries growth to set up such an intelligence/police force.

ATM There is no finite reason (or threat big enough) to enable that kind of
"resolution", that is unless, the government and it's leaders know something about the future that we simply don't. If so, maybe they should come out and tell us about this "threat" so that WE-the-PEOPLE can come together and plan ahead. The only reason I can see (currently) to do such a thing is if Obama's administration plans on doing things that would cause the American people to rise up against our government and he is trying to build a road block to that event.

I am sorry but I simply do Not see the need for such an action.

Perhaps this "civilian national security force" is what is referred to in our Constitution's 2nd Amendment?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I think that many people who are ok with this civilian security force are not realizing that he wants this force to be as large and as powerful as the military. That's over 1.3 million people. Where exactly does everyone think he is planning on getting the funds to train an additional 1.3 million people to be like the military? Sure isn't going to come from the national surplus. (Hint: we have a deficit not a surplus) And many people who are or would be supportive of this civilian security force are the same who think the military should be cut in half, done away with, or think that their budget should be cut since they apparently don't need body armor or armor for their tanks. What really gets me is this idea isn't that different from Blackwater yet some are supportive of it since it came from Obama.

See this is what gets me. I completely support this initiative, but still you think there must be something I'm not getting, just because you are scared to death of it.

No... there is nothing I am not getting... its not because it comes from Obama... it is what I want to see happen.

A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

Hahahahahah! After "his" party's tyrannical administration (torture, overwriting the constitution, unlimited executive power and "privilege," eavesdropping on civilians, starting wars under false pretense, yada, yada), that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time.

U.S. troops are for "the people", not the gov't. If the gov't were to do anything (give orders) to harm "the people" wouldn't the military have to protect "the people" and not the gov't? Then, the gov't would need their own military in order to carry out orders that may not be at an advantage to "the people".

Well, if this does infact happen... try convincing the uneducated balck person on the street about what Obama has done to the country.

I'll make an estimate... Ask any 100 black Americans on the street if they know anything about Facsism.

Think About it... Obama even wants a 'civilian military force'. Who do you think these people will be? Obviously anyone who needs a job.

Blacks will line up to get a 'police' job... and they will love it. They will do anything to support Obama. Even if it means destroying the country... They will always remember the fact that slavery took place. So they will feel impowered by Obama and feel as if they have finally changed the Country.

Get ready for something... that's all I know... I don't believe what I just wrote, but I can see the fact that most black people will pledge their allegience to Obama no matter what he decides. (Jst because he's black)

Seems you have just a small bit of racism showing through your epidermis there. Ask any 100 black Americans on the street if they know anything about Fascism.???? Hold that same standard to "white" people, I bet you would get the same response. OH WAIT OBAMA IS HALF WHITE. DerDuh

Oh wait, I forgot the stupid reactions of racist white people when someone has even a little bit of black in them.

Talk about the brain going stupid over color, how about we "HUMANS" learn to judge each other by how we treat each other instead of by the coloration or supposed coloration of our skin.

You make a very valid and reasonable point but the fact that it's being put in place BY the government and is (from what I've seen) being supported by the government is the scary part. They haven't been so nice to the constitution over the past 8 years.. why start now?

Are they hoping to block any attempt for such a militia to be set up and controlled solely by civilians or simply trying to get a head start on a civilian militia that may pose an actual risk? I think there are a lot of question we must ask ourselves before accepting such a huge step in the "nwo" agenda.

I'm just saying that a government appointed "civilian" militia might not be the best idea for our country. Then again ya gotta look at the guy next to you (or in the mirror) and wonder "Should this guy be in charge of a militia?"

I for one wouldn't like door to door checks and the like. I'm un-trusting of government and police as it is and you think I'm going to adhere to the "laws" of Joe the plumber? Nah, don't think so.

If there is a need then every American citizen would bare arms and defend this country.. Maybe that's why this agenda is being pushed. With that said I still won't deny the possibility that there might actually be a need for it if the wrong people are out there trying to do the same.

Some people will believe anything...

If you watch the video you will notice that he is speaking to a crowd of veterans.
Normally, when giving a speech to a specific group of people, you cater your speech towards them.

In this speech he used a (GASP) metaphor to say that our civilian forces need to be as well trained as our military forces. WHY? you ask! Clearly, he is implying he wants to create a gestapo type SS force. Clearly!

Or he was just using a metaphor to relate to veterans...

Oh what do I know.

Lets just spend all of our resources the military machine and ignore all that civilian stuff...those crazy nutters.

This hysterical anti-Obama stuff is old, stupid, delusional, paranoid, often driven by hatred, sometimes racism and serves Obama very well. It makes it look like his biggest critics are all a bunch of hot-headed, very juvenile lunatics throwing temper tantrums and making absolutely ludicrous predictions about what will happen during his administration.

That's the irony. These people only help Obama.

Any relation to a certain anniversary held in Germany a few days ago?
I shudder to think of it.
(The timing and everything is rather strange, but likely coincidental)

He does seem to have lots of great ideas. They sound good in theory. I'm going to observe very carefully over the next few months especially. The only thing I'm puzzled about is his civilian security force. I thought there already was one (the police).

edit: But I'm sure he'll elaborate on his plans soon...

"WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship. "

uhm, he should try to look up the difinition of Marxism and fascism.
Russia wasn't marxists they were stalinists, Marx would have turned in his grave by that comment, his name was abused by Stalin, it was his starting base of the Russian society, but bare very little resemblance.

the fascism part... god i rolled my eyes back in my head..

let's try to compare the Bush administration to 10 steps of fascism..
BTW Hitler's third reich was PART iinspired by fascism
1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy- cough, The Terrorists that is everywhere.. try to compare the 9/11 speech and the "Riestag" incident speech by hitler.. And if you tell me that The USA isn't a fear inflicted #ry, i must say: Great story.
2. Create a gulag.
Once you have got everyone scared, the next step is to create a prison system outside the rule of law... guantanamo, the CIA prisons all over world? oh let's not forget the prison procentage of the US...
4. Set up an internal surveillance system.
do i have to explain this one?
5. Harass citizens' groups.
Atheists, Muslims, immigrating people and other political groups(small groups) ect...
what lists has not been created under the administration.. Who isn't being investigated, except the administration itself?
6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release.
hmmm sounds familiar?
7. Target key individuals.
alright i admit that this is just a general thing for US history..
8. Control the press.
i don't live in the US, and they shouldn't worry about this one.. because i love watching
fox news, it always surprises me that people sees this as a news channel.. and you have to have a good laugh.
9. Dissent equals treason
"non american!" "socialists" "terrorist" fear fear fear! wohoo...
10. Suspend the rule of law.
Iraq, Defense Authorization Act, ect...

makes you wonder?

Just like we were all in store for something in October. Keep your head up bro. Don't be scared. Go to church--that helps. Fearmongerers of the world don't worry--Barack is going to actually win you over yet.

First, can all of you self-righteous people get off your high horses long enough to realize that not everything negative that is said about Obama's policies is the result of racism? For the love of all that is holy people, it's not racism to question the government, government leaders, or the policies they propose. I wouldn't care, and many others wouldn't either, if Obama was tie-dyed with multi-colored polka dots. His race has no more to do with people questioning the things he's wanting to do while in office than Bush's race had to do with people questioning the things he wanted to do and did do. I, for one, am sick and tired of every thread that has to do with Obama being filled to the brim with accusations of racism every time someone dares to question things that have come from Obama's own mouth about what he wants to do while president. We questioned Bush without accusations of racism, why can we not question Obama without it?

Once more in simplified terms:

Questioning policies, proposed policies, plans, etc. does not equal racism.

Then perhaps you won't mind explaining why you think we need a Civilian Security Force that is as well funded and well trained as our military. We already have a military, that most people here like to throw insults at and would like to see cut in half or completely destroyed, so why exactly is getting another 1.3 million people trained and paid as well as the military ok?

Where exactly do you think the money is going to come from to pay for this Civilian Security Force?

Why do you think we need a Civilian Security Force when we already have multiple government and civilian groups who take care of security in this country?

What exactly do you think a Civilian Security Force has to do with volunteering in the communities?

Why do you think we need a special government trained and funded Civilian Security Force for people to volunteer in their communities when many people around the country already volunteer in their communities without said CSF?

People already volunteer, there is no need for this CSF.
We have a military, police force, etc., there is no need for this CSF.
Our country is flat broke and our economy is heading down the toilet, we cannot afford another government funded anything let alone a Civilian Security Force.

So what exactly is "as well funded and trained as the military" supposed to be a metaphor for? I'm afraid you're going to have to explain how exactly you think that is a metaphor for anything.

Let the flaming begin.

I have no idea what an Obama presidency will bring. My hope, and the hope of millions, is that we have solid, good decisions being made.

That's all that we can hope and ask for.

What this election is showing me though, is that there are a lot of very disenfranchised, scared, and confused white people out there that feel like the world is passing them by, and they are holding onto something that isn't existing anymore.

The country is changing. It's never easy. It always happens. The only difference this time around, is that it's happening to YOU. If you're scared and upset by a half-black president, it's because the world is changing without you, and you haven't stepped out of your comfort zone to realize it.

Why are all of you making this a party issue! First of all, fascism and communism are two sides of the same coin and they are both socialist (national vs international).

How can the right defend GWB's record of taking away our freedoms. Why does the left assume that BHO will be any different. Obama clearly made the statement about a civilian national security force which in my opinion is unconstitutional. You also have warning signs that some event will be used to get people to give away more of there freedoms and accept this type of institution. Colin Powell in an interview with Tom Brokaw (both are CFR members) said an event will happen on the 21st or 22nd of January and we don't even know what it is. Obviously they know something is coming.

Then you have Joe Biden telling hardcore supported at a fundraiser that it won't be six months before something happens and we will make decisions that are unpopular but please stick by us because they will be the right thing to do. He also said I shouldn't be saying all this because I just realized the press is here.

There are obviously plans in place for something and some event will occur that will have us begging for the very thing they want to implement. 9/11 was the best things that could have happened for the neocons to push the agenda. They talked about needing an event like Pearl Harbor so that the people would go along with the plan (search PNAC). What will the event be for the neolibs?

All these guys are CFR Obama, Biden, Cheney, McCain, Clintons, Powell, Brokaw and many advisors to both parties. Why is it so hard to believe that one agenda can be implemented using two different paths that appear to be opposite but really have the same goal.

People, STOP BELIEVING IN EITHER PARTY! All these politicians have to play the game and must follow the agenda. Those that don't are taken out. Lincoln Kennedy, etc... The few congressman that speak out are marginalized by their parties. Think Paul & Kucinich.
