So is this thread 1 of 10000 of an obama assassination? Let's take bets on how many threads will be started with this as the subject. I'll go with a modest number of 587. And i'll put 1 penny on that bet as it's ALL I CAN AFFORD...actually...i better keep that penny for now and i'll put in an IOU instead.

I agree with the original reply that this is in poor taste and at least borderline offensive. Didn't think ATS allowed crap like this.

Look, this is really getting old. These are the types of suspicions which should be kept private. If you have them - fine. I just don't think a public forum is the right place for it.

I don't understand why it is that people think that Bush is to blame for our current state of affairs. Is it not Congress that really makes the messes? Even if the President says yes to something and the House and Senate say no... well guess what... it's a no. Have we not had a Democrat Congress for the past couple of years. Besides all of the libs yelling about the war I seem to recall that the country was doing very well before the Dems take over. Funny how that works.

Now back on topic... I tend to agree with Mercenary. I don't believe that he will be killed. I think that there will be more threats than usual but nothing will come of it.

IF... it did happen I think that it would come about due to some kind of "Civil" war. He'll try to take away the guns, insititute his "brown" shirts, raise taxes and raise them again and again and again... you get the picture. Then we will pop and take a page out of the French history books. When they actually had a backbone. CHOP!!!

There are also things which Congress says "yes" to that the president can say "no" to. Sure, Congress can override a veto. But, as enforcer of the law, the president can choose which laws to enforce and which laws not to enforce.

The welfare state started off as a good idea, but was very poorly implemented allowing people to easily take advantage at the expense of those who do work and contribute.

I can see where your coming from though mate, but this world isn't ideal. I don't know your economic stability but if you had to pay say an extra 1k a year in taxes it would seriously effect your standard of living....

My wife and I made 104k last year...

This year, We'll be lucky to break 30k.

If it wasn't for the handouts that you preach against, would my kids currently have any medical coverage whatsoever?

Wait until your the victim, then tell me you don't appreciate all the so called "handouts".

Its easy to talk from a pedestal, thinking it can never happen to you... but let me tell you, it can.

IF YOU READ WHAT I SAID you'd see I'm against helping those that refuse to help themselves, to those that think they don't have to work and expect aid. You've contributed so there's no problems in assisting you now that's not my point. What is, is why should I work hard to help lazy people who don't seem to understand the need to be able to support themselves??

and there is no pedestal, just cos I have a different perspective to you doesn't mean I'm preaching or what ever. It means I have different views based on my life experiences. I've had hard times but then I got a 2nd job, which got taxed even higher as the government seems to think its good to punish those that work hard. Getting a job isn't the hardest thing in the world and if I had any influence over the political processes in this country I'd dam make sure people had to work for their support rather than just expect it.

before you go jumping up and down and saying how hard done to your family is why not read what was said?

Not in good taste. No not at all.
I didn't vote for him and I don't agree with his politics but an assasination would be bad for us all. It would set us back a long way.
Bad mojo friends.

I admit I speculated Bush would be assasinated, Chenney would take over and say it was the Iranians and BOOM war in Iran. There was much speculation about this I believe. I sorta remember something about his death related to his name in skull and cross bones.

I'm afraid Obama might get killed, but if they've kept Bush safe this long. However if the powers that supposively be are planning for it to happen. I can totally see Biden as a corporate NWO stooge.

Also you're the only one who's brought up the black thing.
Also I'll repeat what's been said over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. If you make over 250k, the first 250k will be taxed normally, but say you made 300k, 50k would see a 3% increase in taxes. Considering dissproportionate the bush tax cuts were, the top 1% receieve almost 70% of it, I could care less how much the top 5% is making. The average American is making 40k a year it's alot harder to survive on that than 250k.

Well Im certain he'll get to keep the Pin.

Get a few attractive bodyguards, and a very un-attractive body double.

I wonder if he gets a Gold Budweiser Card, and a ticket to the Super Bowl?

God help us if he has a wardrobe malfunction.

Well you did ask !!!

Bush was not assassinated. Even after most people felt he was a bad president at best and a criminal at worst.

So I don't see reason to think Obama would be.

Granted, I am talking about professional assassins.

If you are talking about Joe the Sniper then I still think it unlikely considering Obama will have even more protection the previous Presidents.

don't forget he gets a key to a playboy mansion

Listen in all honesty a president hasn't been assassinated since Kennedy. Reagan was a close call. But after the A$$ chewing the secret service got after both Kennedy and Reagan I don't think they will let it happen again. He'll have a better chance of not getting re elected for a 2nd term than someone killing him.

well I still maintain its a valid question given the world as it is. I never said I wanted it to happen, or that it would. It was an enquiry into what people think is all.

you never know it might just be what US needs, a president who seemingly cares more but it doesn't stop the possibility of it happening like it has done numerous times before.

so I will reiterate again. There was NO STATEMENT on the desire for it to happen, IT WAS A VALID QUESTION GIVEN THE CHANGE IN POLICIES HE IS SET TO INTRODUCE.

alas ,it wont stop me asking sensitive questions in the future. After all it is a forum for conspiracies etc.

Wasn't it the republicans who wasted everyones time by investigating sterods in baseball instead of sicking the DEA on 'em? And democrats havn't been in charge 2years yet. This whole mess started earlier this year, so you're telling me for the year the democrats were in charge they cause all this financial chaos? In fact the dow has been dropping from it's all time high of 14,000 since October 07, they had only been in charge of congress 10 months then. Was it the democrats that got DJIA so high? Oh no that's right it was free market. The difference between the kind of free market republicans want and democrats want is this. Republicans want a unfettered no regulators free market, this way of thinking started at a conservative university in the 60's. They practived this new free market idea on South America throughout the 70's and 80's. If you'd like to read about it you can in 'The Shock Doctrine: Rise of Disaster Capitalism'.

I "loathe" George W Bush. I have little doubt that history will perceive him as the worst President of the first 43. BUT..... Had he been assassinated, I would mourn with the rest of the nation because as an American, I don't see him as a person, but as THE OFFICE. I would take personal offense that OUR President was killed. Just to make my point, I knew absolutely NO ONE killed in 9/11, but rest assured, I mourned for several years.

It's long past time that we as AMERICAN'S, not as #ing Democrats and Republicans, realize that we are ALL in the same damned boat that that we'll all float or sink together. This divisiveness just makes it easier for our enemies since we've already divided ourselves FOR THEM TO CONQUER.

In summation, grow up, pull up your pants and be an American. This whining is BENEATH us ALL.

What a disaster that would be. I don't like him, but it would certainly tear our nation up if someone did it. I don't think he'll get it, but I know there are a lot of people who have the same question. I'm sure there are a lot of people who want to try, too.

I'm not sure we need to try to be fair to Obama. I don't think we received fair coverage of him. The media massively supported him and reported on him with little objectivity. They ignored the facts and largely softballed him into office. I hope he gets at least half the scrutiny and scepticism given to Bush.

Besides, if you want to be president, you're going to need thick skin.
