Until you earn your bonafides and are qualified at the very minimum Masters level you could do much more damage than good giving advice without getting all the facts. Keep studying, stay with it, but I gotta say your response calling me sick for reminding you of your position is just another indication that you should let off the online express diagnosis.

Personally I would suggest a web cam. They are relatively cheap. Of course you'd have to have a computer in your room. This is the set up I have. I sleep with the monitor on so there is enough light within the room. This is my way of observing some unusual things that happen to me at night.

I just bet you do. I think she should keep these videos to herself, maybe a written descripton would be best. If something unusual does show up on the vid perhaps only her doctor or pastor should see it. Just my opinion,

Yes. Just leave the monitor on. When I was collecting data and logs to prove something I kept it on throughout the night without a problem.

Oh come on....

I think the people that jump to a paranormal answer for everything will do FAR more damage than ANYONE saying "Sounds like you are sick, maybe you have THIS!"

I have seen people 'diagnosing' paranormal solutions for things that could be everything from brain tumors and retina tears to skin cancers and mental illness.

In my experience it is ALWAYS safer to err on the side of modern medicine.

So you're a doctor now too? In case you didn't notice SkepticalSteve gave an actual diagnosis. He should have left it at "maybe you should see a doctor", which she has done. And actually I really believe the video camera is the best method at getting to the truth of the situation, don't you?

I totally agree. So here goes. I had a psychological examination, a CT a MRI seen a neurologist and had blood work up done. When I saw the psychiatrist I was told that though what I was describing had some components of DID or scizophrenia, I did not display enough symptoms to be diagnosed as having any of these. Nevertheless, I was put on anti psychotics to try and relieve the symptoms...nothing changed. My medicine was changed three other times with no results. My pychiatrist then had me go off the medicine and see a sleep therapist. More tests were run turning up ziltch. Only then did I look to an unexplained, er, explanation. With the course work for my undergrad degree, I had more gross anatomy experience than an M.D. does. I have literally seen and handled more bodies than your typical M.D. What separates me from an M.D.? 2 years of memorizing and specialization.

(I was not pre-med, for anyone that is going to ask.)

An M.D. takes your symptoms and consults tomes if he hasn't memorized the symptoms.

So no, while I am not qualified to say, "You have a tapeworm," I -am- qualified to say, "Sounds like you might have a tapeworm."

And, while I thought a video might prove useful when I first heard the story, I think it will merely show a person thrashing aroung in bed. It won't help anyone.

You are full of surprises, Hank, I didn't know your background/education, but I hardly think that is the case with SkepticalSteve, at least not for a few more years. As for the video camera, well, what do you suggest at this point, she has been to all the doctors and pastors and even a sleep center? A video camera when she is at home might produce an answer to her dilemma, it's worth a try, and who knows, maybe something "unusual" will show up on the vid?

Off topic note to Hank: One more "psychic" guess for your "what's on my monitor thread", a dirty sock?

He did have sex with me this time, (he doesn't always) and it's so scary how ral it feels. Anyway, I just wanted to update from my original post and see what you guys have to say about it. I must admit I am intrigued. You start off by say that it came back. While I have my doubts about the validity of this story, I would like to hear the history of you and this thing.

Could you tell us how you first came into contact with this being? Could you tell us previous stories? Do you know what it looks like? Sounds like?

Could we get more details in general? It would help us determine what is going on here.
