Just curious...
How has the last 8 years of Bush's leadership affected you directly?
I just find it hard to believe and it seems you're just going with the hype.
I live in America, and according to the politicians, the last 8 years have been Hell in America.
I haven't noticed.
My life style has not changed one bit.

And secondly, you say 'running their nation'.
I take it you don't know much about a President's power.
He hardly runs anything.
That's why we have the Senate and House of Representatives.
Not that I even buy the fact that the President makes the decisions to begin with (as this would be a bit hopeful in the greedy world we live in).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, I'm just watching everyone else blame the leaders for EVERY SINGLE THING and I think it's absurd.
Whoever is in power gets ALL the blame even despite the fact that a President's power is overly exagerated.
That's not to say that Bush hasn't messed up, but my God, if you listen to some people you would think we were eating out of trash cans for the last 8 years all because of Bush.

Amen to that! I have noticed the same thing as well. I had wondered why no one was talking about the issues so I really went digging and listened carefully to what was being said and I noticed a pattern. The opinions of the news is directly affecting how the public views these candidates. I also noticed that the candidates aren't saying anything that we don't already know. WHEN they make promises, they always put some kind of clause quickly into their river of words and in those clauses, they pretty much say the opposite of what they had just promised. haha

Now, people are turning on each other. IF people could step back and get a grip, they would see that all in all, things are not that bad. We have our lives, we have our family and friends, and we have some pretty damn good solutions that we don't HAVE to wait around to implement them into our lives. Stop blaming each other and encourage a little more. This can change, but it WILL REQUIRE a different way of thinking. It is about time we stop thinking we can't and start knowing we will.

eh, anyway.

Well......
You know as a kid, you look at the history books, your thinking and looking back, oh the genoicides, the wars of Stalin and Hitler, the 1st and 2nd world wars where millions died for these bitter regimes. etc etc. These were time's past. Maybe even somewhat less animilistic to the bloody wars before this and so on.

But as time progresses and we progress as humans, I really thought we'd be better as a race, than what we've witnessed in the last 8 years. No matter what happens in the past, the main thing is we learn from it and move forward.
But these picture's and events of the past, are triggered in me and of course in alot of people, because the past events of genocides and wars we have not learned from, are showing up again in these 8 years. It's really really interesting to just be aware of the trigger in you.

It's basically the past creep up to the present, because you have not dwelt with the past. That is what's happening today.

That affects me.

In my life right now, I feel we are not learning as a result. We are repeating the past religously. This is what I've clearly pointed out in the beginning. It affects me even on an unconcious level I would say. It just instinct telling you oh "I've seen this before" why am witnessing this again? It's like that inner voice talking to you.

In my time now, the 8 years will also be in the history books. The same war's and the same filth that we've seen in the history books before, get what I'm saying here. Yet I'm not part of it, I don't want represent it. I don't want to be apart of it. So should this mean it should not affect me, even after explaining this??

20 years on, people could read this, and wonder too. (I'm sure they would instinctively understand what I'm meaning by it)

The millions misplaced of people are apart of me, they had lives like you and I, taken from them with no choice. They are human beings just like you and I.
100,000 Iraqs dying under my life time. I could not do anything to stop it. I could not even make any difference. That affects me alot.

I guess you haven't learned, your still unaware, going from the question you just asked, even the fact that your curosity is triggered only 8 years on is nothing but baffling..........

It affects me because, my life, is a life like anyone else is. I have my advertsity, just like anyone else has. Why should innocents die for these regimes? Like the administration we've just pointed out. Knowing these regimes are to the benifet of only the elites and leaders marking blood on our soils.

The absense of people who lived in my time, questions my pwn existence as a person. So why should it not affect another living person, isn't that been human to behave this way? or is it not?

The leaders of this world are still ravishing in greed and power, that killiing between 200,000 to 1,000,000 million Iraqs civilians doesn't seem like bad news today. Its "OK", to kill these people bla bla bla. People like you are not even aware, that I might be feeling uncomfortable and affected by this, and even more astonished that you questioned, my reaction to the current cliamate of the world right now.

It's downright shocking.

I'm really shocked that this is the reality of my life time, I really thought we'd be different and more evolved as a race to deal with these issues and be more intellegent by not getting into these wars. I thought humanity would naturally progress, from the knowledge gained from our fathers, are we learnig from our past?

I want to be the different, progressive, evolved being, in the evolved world we live in today. Progessing with time is what should be expected of me.

Second reason It affects me, Is because I have evolved with time and the changes of now. I'm living in this world now, this is not my vision of the world where we are fighting in wars. I want to see new great things we've acheived in a history book. These war regimes of now and the past, do not fit my present. But now our books will again be littered with war stories again.......... That affects me.

I'm aware of what the Elites want,They want to control us. They want a WW3. They want to give us the problems, so we keep fixing it for them, They want us to fight each other. This is why this is not me, I'm not going to repeat these mistakes. I don't want to see this in the history books either. I don't want to see ourselves repeating this crap for every generation to come. It's horrifying. I'm representing change..

That's why it affects me. These regimes, governments, power and greed do not fit my world, my universe, my life, nor does it represent any shape to my future on this planet.

If you don't understand where I'm coming from. that's won't bother me.

I just find it hard to believe and it seems you're just going with the hype.
Find what hard to believe, and what hype.

You don't know me. So don't make unthoughtful inaccurate judgments.

I live in America, and according to the politicians, the last 8 years have been Hell in America.
I haven't noticed.
My life style has not changed one bit.
That is exactly the problem, you haven't noticed and you haven't changed. It's called ignorance.
Guess my perception of you was right in the beginning. Your not aware of what I'm aware of. But I'm not going to tell you. You will have to figure that yourself. and figure order from chaos too.

And secondly, you say 'running their nation'.
I take it you don't know much about a President's power.
He hardly runs anything.
I didn't say Bush, I said elites.

That's why we have the Senate and House of Representatives.
Those buildings should be floored. Those building represent people in power that take your power. They do not represent people.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, I'm just watching everyone else blame the leaders for EVERY SINGLE THING and I think it's absurd.
I agree, I also think its absurd, you only see this fact, and dissmiss the chaos of the last 8 years. As you've stated above, that the last 8 years has not affected you. So you've contradicted yourself and......... you don't make sense, if you say this is absurd, when you haven't been affected by the last 8 years.

P.S I didn't use the word blame. I just stated the fact that the last 8 years was chaos. People are themselves to blame, you included, because you are been ignorant of the inappropriate behaviour of this administration of these long 8 years, as you've quoted it" doesn't affect you"

EDIT : sorry for been off topic, poster wanted my view on this.

I took an IQ test twice, both times it said I had an IQ of 165 That's supposed to be borderline genius, I'm pretty sharp, but I scored highest on logic.

My dad's IQ is 116, guess he's smarter than Palin too.

Also, you don't have to be smart to be a good parent, you honestly don't have to be very smart to be a Governor either, you just have to be able to put on a smiley face and make stuff up, you know, bs a lot.

I agree alot to that.

But the system of giving our power to these candidates will also have to change.

Because if we give our power to those in postion of power, and they make the mistakes, which we do not like. Then we are only ourselves to blame. If everyone is fine with that, then ok. Let's take our responsiblity back. Let's take control.

We need to take our control back, so we won't have to blame anybody or anyone. That's what I'm saying.

But I'm defenatley on agreement to everything else you've said.

www.politico.com...

Why is there no trail of Obama at Harvard? There is ONE unsigned piece that is attributed to him. Maybe he did not have an IQ high enough to construct a proper review article. The sole article is about abortion and unsigned. That is it. Is this common for someone elected to that position????

83? BS Alert! That's what Forrest Gumps IQ was in the movie.

Think about what you just said there. 83 - barely above retarded.

She definately is NOT barely above retarded.
Just listening to her and watching her, not to mention that she
can hold down the job of Govenor AND take care of 5 children
tells us that an IQ of 83 is impossible.

If you 'expected' she had an IQ of 83 - then that's just biased partisanship on your part.

It is impossible for Govenor Palin to have a low IQ of 83.

MAJOR BS ALERT.
Have you listened to her speak?

her and "W" could hold a conversation, and they'd understand each other. "barely above retarded" That's actually a bang on description.

oh, it's you again.

I double checked what you said, since you have a tendency to say things that aren't true and again you're wrong.

83 is not retarted. The man who developed IQ testing levels says so.
His name is Lewis Terman if you want to look him up.

An IQ in the 80's is just considered dullness. Retardation, or more accurately feeble-mindedness occurs under 70.

It is therefore possible that she have a mediocre IQ... much like her gradepoint average.

Since no one else seems to have noticed, I'll refer people back to DarkStormCrow's post on this hoax.

The SAT scoresheet used was a photoshopped version of Dawn Eden's, (dawneden.blogspot.com...) which she had posted online in 2004.

Dawn gives links and details of the hoax in the blog entry I've linked.

Hey, I dislike Palin as much as any other big-city, far-left liberal. But this was a hoax, and a poor one at that.

You beat me by a few minutes. I came upon that url from another one:

newsbusters.org...

and what led me to investigate was the "Received stamp" indicating a 2003 date on it, but the Motor Vehicle "report" had dates of 2004 on it.

In addition, as I posted earlier, if the documents had been real, then FERPA(the Buckley Amendment) had been violated, and that would have been serious breach leading to prosecution of someone at Wasilla High School. Since this has been around for days, and that had not happened, I was pretty sure it was a hoax, but this proves it.

Nice research, ProfEmeritus

I kind of cheated on this. A friend follows Dawn's blog and had told me the story a few days ago, so I already knew it was a fraud when I saw this thread.

Still, denying ignorance works in mysterious ways

Did anyone go to the website that this is posted on? I don't think it really qualifies as a "website", its more like a forum or blog. And, isn't this covered under the "political trolling" policies supposedly being enforced on ATS?

This thread is complete bull. The document is very questionable (heck, already proven a hoax in a post above) and yet is still being discussed. The source is definitely slanted left.

Think about it. If she was so stupid, why was she able to take on the oil companies in Alaska? The oil companies must be really really really dumb! Yet, billions of dollars richer than she is? Do you see the lack of logic?

ah ok, so because she is white that makes her better for the job than obama.. ?! thats your explanation ! lol cmon man... and for that funny name thing... i think the only people STILL not knowing that USAMA and OBAMA are totally different (huh see the spelling!) are people with 83 IQ. You people are gonna need more than: "well his name sounds like the alleged terrorist" who by the way is just a stupid afghan actor!! Which is now dead! To convince us that barrack obama is apparently a terrorist working with pakistani gov. pffffff no need for that, your hole is already digged... thanks to john mccain!

Well done for completely missing the point. I'm sorry, but I thought that part of my post was obviously sarcasm.

I'll go over it again: for some voters it won't matter if Palin had a lobotomy scar running across her forehead and she was drooling every time she appeared on camera. Her intelligence or capability - or lack of - wouldn't be an issue. What would be more salient for them regarding who to vote for or against is that Obama has a 'funny' name and he's not white.

Lets use logic here.

The US was founded, built and established by your everyday man.

The US was defended and is protected daily by your everyday man.

The US economy is built with, maintained and dependant upon your everyday man.

The US is a GREAT country thanks to your everyday man.

Whos your everyday man...people with a GPA of 2.0 to 3.0, an SAT score of less then 1000, and an IQ ranging from 80 to 115. So it sounds like Palin may be able to understand what us NORMAL MOST IMPORTANT folks want/need.

I mean cmon, lets face it...It wasn't until those who went to Ivy League schools, were born with silver spoons, had the 4.0 gpa's, PHD's and think the SAT scores actually prove anything that this country has gone to hell. So bring on someone with the ability to be at my level..

I totally disagree.

The USA was founded by the most intelligent men of that era. They were polymaths, freemasons and of unusually high intelligence. The common man revolted against the British in protest against taxation without representation. The founding fathers revolted in order to found a country in liberty and natural rights.

The USA is defended by the common man, yes. But you'll notice that the generals and commanders are always the most intelligent and capable. I dont want to insult the infantry by calling them stupid, but they would hardly be the capable force they are without effective leadership.

The USA's prosperity is additionally derived from the industrialists and visionary men of the 20th century such as Ford, Rockefeller, et al. Of course the American workforce is to be credited, but again without leaders and visionaries of unusal ability, there wouldnt have been as much progress.

So while a leader of "average joe" intelligence may be seen as an advantage in empathetic terms, in reality leaders are the most effective when they have unusual ability. Indeed to rise to a leadership position usually requires a heck of a lot of intelligence and ability.

I know for sure that I would rather have a president with an IQ of 140 than one with an IQ of 100. Intellectual horsepower does count for something at the end of the day.

I agree completely. America, like all countries, owes a massive debt to those that actually get their hands dirty with the actual building, the fighting and so on. But when it's comes to the designs and the plans for the building at fighting and so on, very rarely is it a "common man" that's behind it all.

I say that for both good and bad.

EDIT to remove some of the quote in case it goes against the quoting guidelines or something.
