That's pretty funny.

I was on foxnews.com in the politics section on their site and there was a flash based ad at the bottom of the screen that said:

Sarah Palin's IQ = 120
Is yours higher?
Find out, CLICK HERE

I thought that was an strange ad. Even more interesting after your link.

I'm confused.

So are you saying you NEED an IQ to become a politician?
Can you post some evidence to support that?

No IQ needed -- that one's obvious.

But 83 is still pretty funny.

Read the news clips about how she created a $19 million long-term debt in Wasilla when there was none before she became mayor:

Budget:

Government Administrative Spending Increased 48 Percent Under Palin.

In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the expenditures of
the general government of Wasilla were $1,899,275. In fiscal 1996—the year before
Palin took control of the budget—the expenditures were $1,286,594. The increase was
48 percent. “General government expenditures” covers administration, city council,
administrative and management systems. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial
Report 2003, Table 1]

Total Government Expenditures Increased 63 Percent Under Palin.

In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the total government
expenditures of Wasilla, excluding capital outlays, were $7,046,325. In fiscal 1996
—the year before Palin took control of the budget—the expenditures were $4,317,947.
The increase was 63 percent. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003,
Table 1]

Spending On Salaries Increased 67 Percent Under Palin.

In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the total spending on salaries and benefits was $549,392. In fiscal 1996—the year before Palin took control of the budget—salaries and benefits came to $328,650. The increase was 67 percent. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003, Exhibit D- 1; Wasilla
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 1996 page 16]

Office Furniture and Equipment Increased 117% Under Palin.

In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—Wasilla owned $741,589 in office furniture and equipment. In fiscal 1996— the year before Palin took control of the budget—the city owned $342,449. The increase was 117 percent. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003, page 19; Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 1996 page 29]

City Administration Spending on Outside Professional Services Increased More than 9-Fold (932%) Under Palin.

In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the Wasilla administration spent $150,500 on professional and technical services. In fiscal 1996—the year before Palin took control of the budget—the administration spent $14,590. The increase was 932 percent. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003, page 39; Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 1996
page 57]

I like this one too:

Career (1978-1997):

1987-1989: Sports Reporter
KTUU-TV, KTVA-TV (Anchorage), and Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman
1988-present: Co-owner, husbands fishing operation
1992-1996: Wasilla AK city council
1994-1997: Co-owner, snow machine dealership (failed)

A failed snowmobile dealership in Alaska? Reminds me of Dubya's oil companies!

That's going to be immaterial to at least some voters. What really counts is that she's white and doesn't have a 'funny' name.

However, an ability to read is really all that her job is going to entail anyway so an IQ of 83 is actually superfluous. That goes for Obama too.

Just read those notes the Men Behind Closed Doors pass to you and try and look like you mean it and they're your own thoughts.

Rofl! Gold!

Even if you look past her being a hair above functionally retarded, all those news articles are verifiable and frankly they are terrifying! Not to mention a window into what a Palin administration would look like

i often wonder how differently people would vote if politicians were not allowed to use teleprompters or speech writers and had to just 100% wing it.

i bet then we could get quality over quantity for a change.

it wouldn't shock me to learn that there are a large number of people in positions of power that are in a similar boat

Outta her league . . .

An IQ of 83 -just as I expected. Barely above retarded. While probably typical of the average government worker, I'm surprised she made it as far as she did in AK.

Palin's IQ score?

I'm surprised she even has a pulse...

83. That's quite a shock, but not unexpected

83? BS Alert! That's what Forrest Gumps IQ was in the movie.

Think about what you just said there. 83 - barely above retarded.

She definately is NOT barely above retarded.
Just listening to her and watching her, not to mention that she
can hold down the job of Govenor AND take care of 5 children
tells us that an IQ of 83 is impossible.

If you 'expected' she had an IQ of 83 - then that's just biased partisanship on your part.

It is impossible for Govenor Palin to have a low IQ of 83.

MAJOR BS ALERT.

There is NO WAY she has an IQ of 83. She has to be above 110 at least. I would guess 120's or 130's.

I read somewhere that years ago an IQ of 83 used to be considered mildly retarded. When they started giving IQ tests to ALL segments of the population it turned out 85 was "average" for one specific demographic. At that point they lowered the standard for retardation and many states banned the use of IQ tests completely for that specific group.

I dunno. The report says 83 places her in the 12.83 percentile in 1982, so 1 in 8 people have an IQ of 83 or lower.

Considering that all her speeches are 100% scripted and her handlers rarely let her talk to the press, I think it's entirely possible.

How many smart beauty queens do you know?

This is a bunch of BS data. It isn't even propaganda, its just crude, random lies.

If you really believe she may have an iq of 83 then I would suggest you get YOURSELF tested. It is ridiculous! A person with an iq of 83 would be a mumbling fool incapable of memorizing a speech or reading a speech flawlessly off of a tele-prompter.

You apparently have NO CLUE what 83 means.

SATs of 425 verbal and 416 math placed her in the 36th and 31st percentiles for Alaskan college-bound seniors, so evidently not.

Nope, like the report says, being in the 12th percentile means 1 in 8 people have an IQ of 83 or less. 12% of Americans are not mumbling fools incapable of reading a speech.

But on second thought, based on the last two U.S. presidential elections, you may be right.
