This thread should, apparently, be in the Science and Technology forum.

The "report" on Gov. Palin indicates by a rubber stamp on the first page that it was received in 2003. At least a dozen of the "articles" toward the end are dated 2006.

PROOF of time travel!!! It's not a lie, it's a miracle!!!

Only thing that was missing was the already proven fake bikini/gun photo and the equally fake Playboy cover. I really hate it when fabrications are incomplete. hmmph.

Nope, like the report says, being in the 12th percentile means 1 in 8 people have an IQ of 83 or less. 12% of Americans are not mumbling fools incapable of reading a speech.

Uhhh…yes they are. You just don’t work or socialize with them. The average prison iq is in the low 80’s. Many others with an iq in that range are living in projects, or working in very low level jobs. They are out there, they just aren’t in “your” world in a noticeable way. You do not talk to them in depth on a daily basis so you don’t realize that they are operating on a different level.

And when I say “mumbling fools” that is what I mean. They often can read at a grade school level, but if you paid attention you would realize they do not process information well, they have a tendency to use words incorrectly, and they often "make up words" and think no one notices. If you handed them a 12 page speech and asked them to read it they would have a VERY difficult time reciting it eloquently, even if they practiced. It would be VERY obvious!

Are you talking about Bush or Palin?

83? BS Alert! That's what Forrest Gumps IQ was in the movie.

Think about what you just said there. 83 - barely above retarded.

She definately is NOT barely above retarded.
Just listening to her and watching her, not to mention that she
can hold down the job of Govenor AND take care of 5 children
tells us that an IQ of 83 is impossible.

If you 'expected' she had an IQ of 83 - then that's just biased partisanship on your part.

It is impossible for Govenor Palin to have a low IQ of 83.

MAJOR BS ALERT.

Thank you.

Man, I keep trying to avoid these type of threads but when I see people being blatantly attacked with misleading and false information I must speak up.

This is complete bunk.

People change over-time. You need to realize your mistakes in order to succeed in the road ahead. 2.2 GPA in high school is terrible but make no mistake some people become more dedicated when they fail. By the looks of it she failed again and again until at one point she got it right. I am not saying she is the brightest of the bunch, but she is definitely not stupid.

A lot of people are just plain LAZY in school. Self-discipline is a major factor in academic success. If people have a really high iq they will probably do well either way, but those that are in the normal or high normal often get poor grades because they just don't bother to study.

This is utter bunk.

Look at this source: en.wikipedia.org...

To get a score of 420 on the SAT, she would have had to incorrectly fill in her own name and information, and subsequently get every single question wrong.

How could any educated person even believe these claims?! Isnt it obvious that this is a crude hoax?

Just because it is written in a quasi-official report card style layout, doesnt give it verity.

The Op apparently does NOT want to discuss this in a serious manner. Obviously he posted this to bash Palin, and instead of engaging in a real discussion he has chosen to resort to one line jokes instead.

Not trying to toot my own horn, I must second this statement. Do you want to know how many times I opened a book to study for high school assignments? (Other than in Math where it would be a bit difficult to NOT open the book for assignments). Well, not very often at all. School was boring to me. Not boring because it was a waste of time. Boring because it simply didn't challenge me. My mind was constantly moving on to other things.

I would tend to believe THIS as being the case with Palin than with her being just above the level in which a student can attend normal public classes.

Oh yeah, the same practice went on with my 3 degrees that I have obtained since high school. Those include a simple AAS in CADD, a BS in Business Management and an MBA. I think I opened the syllabus a few times in my MBA courses.

Even though I think this country would take a nose dive if she were ever in the oval office, I still think this is most likely fake.

I would like to see the credentials of the person who put this together, and the sources they used.

DMV records are public, however, educational records (GPA, SAT's) are not a matter of public record. Even further, most people have never taken an IQ test, and if they had, that information would most certainly NOT be public record.

can I get a list of resources used, and the credentials of the individual compiling this plz?

I took the ACT rather than the SAT, so perhaps I'm misinterpreting the scores. From your Wikipedia source, it appears the verbal and math scores are added instead of averaged, as is the case with the ACT. So Palin would've gotten a 841 instead of a 420.

Mea culpa, but I still believe the 2.2 GPA and 83 IQ. After listening to those 1 on 1 interviews, is it so hard to believe that Palin's IQ is 17 points below average?

In the interest of fairness, I'm correcting the title since 420 was my assumption and not in the report.

This is partially true from my own experience except that you have to throw in dyslexia, ADD and depression/anxiety/PTSD from an abusive and stressful homelife.
High School GPA 2.1
College - earning a BS : 3.4

High School sucked so hard.

I wonder why it takes numbers to "prove" something of this nature to anyone. She is obviously not a bright person considering that she can't keep her personal agenda for why she is running along side McCain quiet, not to mention the typical arrogance that often accompanies one who is grossly lacking any form of understanding beyond a personal agenda based view.

Really, I think all these scores should just be thrown out. The only one that even comes close to saying anything of real value is the IQ, but it is misunderstood. Those with higher IQ's just tend to be the ones who think outside the box and can't settle for what they are told. They aren't always the smartest when it comes to the maths, languages, etc. etc. They just don't typically give up on a problem until they understand it. Many alternative ways and ideas have come from people like this.

Sarah Palin's scores are not necessary to understand her nature though. Just look at our current president... Mrs. Palin is the female version of that.

The SAT is made up of two portions, or at least it was in the 1980's. There was a math protion and an english portion but upon reading the WIKI page I do recall there were two portions to the english test. A perfect score was 1600 in the 1980's. A 425 and a 416 would give her a combined score of 841 (not sure if the sub scores are added to the total or are part of the english score already). I was tested for a 130+ IQ and I scored above Sarah on the SAT but not by very much.

The SAT picks out diligent test takers with a memory for the sort of questions they ask. If you get hung up on making every oval perfectly filled in you are sunk.

I can believe the SAT test scores for Sarah but the IQ I would like to see bunked or debunked. I just made up a word.

First of all, there are many different IQ tests out there so I'm not sure which one she supposedly took to get a score of 83 but there is no way that is her actual IQ.

In the majority of IQ tests it is safe to assume that a score of 100 is 'average'. There is no possible way that Palin has a score that far below average.

God forbid I should ever run for office ... with a very high IQ but low GPA my senior year in high school and the first three years of college, the media would have a field day and it really wouldn't serve any purpose because my actions when I was 17 - 21 have absolutly nothing to do with who I am today!

On second thought - my actions back then allowed me to get a lot of youthful silliness out of my system and if I hadn't have been allowed to do what I did I would probably still be drinking every day!

You just described Obama and Biden as well.
George Bush too. John Edwards when he was running for VP as well.
Does this mean that their IQs are 83?

As I said - BS ALERT!
