Well I guess the U.S. has finally grown tired of fighting the ubiqitous terrorists and evil axisis. What a perfect timing to introduce a new ultimate enemy - Russia.

Seriously this is looking more and more obsene. It's like every new administration in the U.S. wants to have their new super evil bad guy to scare people with.

This is U.S. shopping around for a new enemy to keep the people busy and scared. U.S. started the first Cold War under Truman - with largely misinformed views on reality. Now U.S. wants to start something new - unless of course this is all just useless temporary posturing. The question is, will Russia play along. It takes two to have a fun Cold War. Otherwise you'll just have one barking dog and another dog going about its business. So far the U.S. is barking, and Russia is just ignoring it.

Yeah, precisely.

This has actually become excruciatingly embarrassing. As you've said, NATO and the U.S. have played all of their diplomatic 'threat' cards; didn't work; won't work. Russia doesn't care one jot.

I think this pretty much sums the whole thing up:

RUSSIAN troops vandalised Georgia's Senaki military base, leaving a provocative graffiti message before abandoning the barracks.

"Thank you Uncle Sam for the uniforms you presented to the Russian paratroopers!" it said.

Game, set, match.

During the period of NATO military operations against Serbia in 1999, Russian Duma members threatened a U.S. Congressman with a nuclear EMP attack against the United States. Congressman Roscoe G. Bartlett (R-MD), records this encounter in 1999: "We met with three of our Russian counterparts on the Duma International Affairs Committee, including its chairman, Vladimir Lukin, and senior Communist Party member Aleksandr Shabonov. On May 2, [1999] the Russians chastised the United States for military aggression in the Balkans and warned Russia was not helpless to oppose Operation Allied Force. Lukin said, ‘If we really wanted to hurt you with no fear of retaliation, we would launch an SLBM [submarine launched ballistic missile] and detonate a single nuclear warhead at high altitude over the United States and shut down your power grid and communications for six months or so.’ Shabonov added, ‘And if one weapon wouldn’t do it, we have some spares.’11

We need to remember that we are by no means invincible. Without our economy, currently being propped up at the rate of 50 Billion a week, we will be of little use to Russia or anyone else on that side of the planet.

War With Russia Is On The Agenda

Thinking about the massive failure of the US media to report truthfully is sobering. The United States, bristling with nuclear weapons and pursuing a policy of world hegemony, has a population that is kept in the dark--indeed brainwashed--about the most important and most dangerous events of our time.

and it continues...

The failure of the American media is again evident in the coverage of the Georgian-Russian conflict. The US media presented the conflict as a Russian invasion of Georgia, whereas in actual fact the American and Israeli trained and equipped Georgian military launched a sneak attack to kill and to drive the Russian population out of South Ossetia, a separatist province.

and concludes...

Americans are filled with hubris, not with knowledge. They have no awareness of the calamity that their government’s pursuit of hegemony is bringing to themselves and to life on earth.

The US has been commiting war crimes for years, S. Ossetia is no different. Here is just one small example, Time for a U.S. Truth Commission

Moscow: No room for more NATO ships on Black Sea, Moldova should beware

In Moscow, Col. Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn said NATO had exhausted the number of forces it can deploy in the Black Sea under international agreements. He warned Western nations against sending more ships. “NATO – which is not a state located in the Black Sea” cannot continuously increase its forces and systems there, he said.

Are you forgetting Russia's threats to Poland,Ukraine and Moldova ? Russia bowling over Georgia, however "just" it was, now strangling it economically,Fear mongering , outright threatening Eastern Europe! Declaring independent territories within Georgia, with it Georgian citizens!,or maybe they need rescuing?

Russia dug itself this hole, not the current Hypocritical US administration, there are no such Presidents here! Imho NATO is/will not help this crisis either, rather extend and exacerbate it.

Russia: NATO interference means war

Russia's ambassador to NATO has warned that any military interference in the Caucasus conflict will be considered as declaration of war.

In an interview with the Russian newspaper Vremya Novostei, Dmitry Rogozin, warned that any NATO attack on the Moscow-backed regions would "mean a declaration of war on Russia."

This is while the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev held talks with the Chinese President Hu Jintao in Tajikistan ahead of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which is taking place on Thursday.

Medvedev, "informed his Chinese colleague about the situation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia," AFP reported. The two men also discussed regional and international issues.

I love the way this subject (Super Powers) is always debated with the 'analysis’s' giving an in-depth report of history and predicted forecasts and we all suck this rubbish in and nod like sheeple! If you actually think that the US/USSR/China are not acting as one on this and all other staged/contrived ‘world threatening’ games, then I suggest you click those red shoes some more and follow the yellow brick road.

One thing to keep in mind is the Roki tunnel from Russia to S. Ossetia was never blown, which was the biggest key strategic target in the Georgian conflict. Thus, Georgia and Saakashvili were never meant to win and this conflict is a precursor to a larger planned battle.

DUSHANBE (AFP) - President Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday that Russia had "united" support from China and Central Asian allies for its actions in Georgia and said it should send a "serious signal" to the West.

"I am sure that the united position of the SCO member states will have international resonance," Medvedev said at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Council (SCO), grouping Russia, China and four ex-Soviet Central Asian states.

Russia gathers SCO Support

Medvedev has succeeded in gathering support from SCO on this matter, are SCO/NATO going into a standoff?

Good article here :

From: Richard Moore

Date: 26 Aug 2008

Like most people who have any awareness of the world, you've probably been wondering about the events in Georgia. Is Russia going to be 'isolated'? Is NATO going to expand into Georgia and the Ukraine? Will Russia bomb the missile systems the US is deploying in Poland? Might things spiral out of control into a nuclear exchange? I too have been wondering, and watching the developments carefully. The picture is now beginning to become clear.

The first thing to realize is that everything that is happening has been planned out well in advance by the usual suspects in Washington. The events have not in any sense been caused by tensions in the Caucus, rather those tensions have provided a convenient venue for Washington to pursue its grand designs.

The second thing to realize is that Russia has no interest whatsoever in conflict. By this I don't mean 'Russia is good', but rather 'Russia is sensible'. The conflicts now and to come are entirely the creation of US/EU elites, in their pursuit of global domination.

The third thing to realize – and this is well known in both Washington and Moscow – is that the US has been preparing for many years to carry out a nuclear first-strike against Russia. That's what Reagan's 'Star Wars' was about, and the thread continues to space- based lasers, and right down to the missiles in Poland.

The fourth thing to realize is the reason why this first strike is critical to US/EU elite interests. Without it, the overwhelming balance of global power will shift to Eurasia, to Russia and China. Eurasia is growing rapidly economically, while the US & EU are in rapid economic decline, and these trends are not going to change without decisive military intervention.

There was a period where it seemed Russia could be defeated without a conflagration. Under Yeltsin, Washington thought it could destroy Russia from within. And then later the 'colored revolutions' looked like they might succeed. Those schemes, however, failed. The Russian Bear is now fully awake, with pockets full of cash, and prepared to defend its interests. Not a scenario that pleases a bully who wants to be King of the Schoolyard.

That's the background to the events in Georgia.

This may be slightly off topic but has anyone noticed how many plane crashes have happened lately? I was thinking this over the last couple of days and wondering if any of them might be the result of covert actions. Then I found a story that claimed that the plane that crashed in Iran had a stack of engineers and scientists on board. When I clicked on the link to the full story all I got was an internet explorer cannot load page error. Has anyone else seen this story and if so, could they post a working link. Again sorry if off topic but didn't know where else to report this.

Actually I found another link here

www.cbsnews.com...

This story says the plane was ful;l of Iranian journalists on the way to cover some military exercises but I'll keep looking for the other story that claims they were engineers and scientists.
