Something needs to be done to Pelosi. Impeachment is in order! What is the procedure for removing a Speaker of the House?

You're kidding right. Now I agree that she's an idiot too, but don't you think there is someone a bit more deserving of impeachment?

Well, I suppose we could take Obama's advice and "inflate our tires", eh?

I know the Dems are the party of inflation, but that is ridiculous.

And drilling is not the only thing the Dems are stifling - they are also stiflig nuclear, clean coal, and others.

So get your story straight.

Nice try at deflection. Won't work. This thread is about Pelosi's anti-American, treasonous policues. Please stay on topic.

I wish I could vote if I wanted to go on vacation a week earlier. Instead of getting a 4 week vacation...let's just vote to make it 5! That is exactly what Pelosi did. The last vote before the Democrats rode off into the sunset was to take an extra week off.

Bravo to the Republicans. Stay the extra week....heck stay the whole 5 weeks and force the Democrats back into session! The MSM will be forced to report on this sooner or later....maybe?

I hope they report on this. Very pleased that there was a stand taken on this issue. John Culberson is on twitter doing updates: Culerson. If enough of us pay attention for long enough then it might get reported on. But since it's a "Friday" the media will use that as an excuse to not report on it.

Umm....there is more to an energy policy than just drilling. This includes building more refineries. Come on, you know this.

Also, even IF we did not build any more refineries, it's still good for the economy if we substitute foreign oil for domestic oil. This way, the 700 billion which goes overseas to Saudi and the like will remain at home. Hmm...700 billion will do a lot of good here in America.

President Bush has the power to order Congress back into session. Unfortunately, that's not his MO and he seems to be preoccupied with his upcoming trip to China and Korea.

This is nothing but worthless grandstanding. You think the republicans are doing this for you? They are there for the oil companies. Yet you cheer even when they rake in record breaking profits. Why don't you all just hand over your wallet to Exxon and beg them to take your money?

Well, the flaw in your logic is that if we increase the supply of oil by drilling more here in America, the price of oil will decrease drastically. This will of course give LESS profits to 'big oil". Isn't that what you want?

BJ's are un-American and treasonsous too I suppose. I suppose we should waste more tax dollars on a witch hunt, when the real problems are obvious.

On topic. No, she shouldn't be impeached herself, unless we kick the whole rest of the band down the quarterdeck with her.

This is really nothing new. Ever meet a politician who didn't vote themseves a raise and extend their vacation? Heck, I'm surprised they even bother to meet anymore.

What difference does it make when they decide to do it as long as they decide to do it.

It makes a difference when they only do it for political grandstanding. Which is all this is.

He then said "I am a Democrat and here is my energy plan" and he held up a picture of an old VW Bug with a sail attached to it. He paraded around he house floor with the sign while the crowd cheered.

Ok, I seriously am considering sending that Rep a case of beer for giving me THE best political chuckle in months, perhaps even years.

It was never about the BJ, and I think you know that, don't you?

You'd get a lot of support for that idea.

No, normally they are all anxious to beat feet. This is different. The nation was waiting for a vote on action to allay high gas prices. The Dems refused to take it under consideration. They spit in our eye. The Rep's stayed there and wanted action. This was strictly partisan.

The answer is pretty simple the way I see it.

I'd much rather be paying ourselves as a country for the oil rather than some state sponsor of terrorism.

Call me kooky but it's just a thought.

Do you really believe they would have been able to get anything through this week, that would have actually had any impact whatsoever on gas prices? No way.

The system is far too cumbersome to be managed in such a way. Waiting a few months isn't going to make any difference when the effects of energy policy aren't felt for years.

Of course it would! Haven't you been paying attention?
Since Bush removed the whitehouse ban on domestic drilling the price of oil has fallen a lot. So of course if congress would remove the ban the price of oil would drop even further. Look, once the speculators and other relevant parties realize the U.S. is serious and that being energy independent is the goal, the price of oil will drop like a rock even before one barrel of oil get pumped.

AAAaaarrrghhh! I'm so sick and tired of hearing this argument. A few months WILL make a difference. Our problems will be solved just a few months earlier. Procrastination doesn't accomplish anything. We need to quit making excuses as to why this can wait and do something NOW.

What exactly are we paying these politicians for if it's not to pass laws and fix issues???

Now THAT is the mutlibillion dollar question, with contractual obligations of course, etcetera...

Seriously though, it seems like the whole show is a waste of money anymore.

You know...I just checked cnn.com, msnbc.com, & foxnews.com. CNN & FoxNews have nothing about this event...at least nothing I could find. MSNBC has a small blurb about it.

To me, this is a major political event...why isn't the news covering it?
