I video taped a similar thing the other day.behind the houses on my road and the flashes of light or lightning were silent. A redish mist appeared after, as I guess it was just a storm. But at the time the sky was clear and it looked odd, but once the cloud came over the houses on the horizon it made sense. I could be wrong, but its worth a comment.

I live in redcar, seaside town n.e england. It was lightning. Nothing more nothing less. Thunder accompanied the flashes. It was arouind 415 am. The rain was torrential with local flooding though and I thougt it was quiet also. Saying that it was early hours of the morning and no one in their right mind would be out in that weather so that explains it really.

Two days ago the weather was very peculiar, really hot and sunny but there were spots of rain or very light drizzle.

The weather seems to have gone a bit tropical.

Weathers been the same up here in Central Scotland, very damp, very warm, doesnt feel all that "normal". I doubt however that theres any sort of conspiracy/UFO thing going on here :p

They are heat flashes.. I saw them all the time when I lived in FL..Sometimes the weather is perfect, and you'll see these flashes in the clouds.

Come to think of what you said, I do recall hearing a 'jet exhaust' sound. However, the pitch of the sound did not sound right for any jet fighters that fly out this way. Nor could I locate the direction the sound seemed to be coming from, as it seemed to be coming from several directions at once.

The strange thing about it was that the sound faded in, and faded out again. Rather like someone turning up the volume on a stationary object, then turning it down again.

Good Luck to you DP!, but could you kindly change the title of the thread to North East UK.....

To most, the Northeast is in the US. NY, NJ, MA, CT, RI, NH, VT ME

Thanks

Yea I agree I am in new york/new jersey and thus ran into this thread after hearing of strange happenings in the 'north east' only to find out it's in UK.

Gentlemen (Pinktip, Fulcrum29), I have to say that I am rather dissapointed.

Your obvious egotistical and overly patriotic thought processes are far too small to qualify for the edict "deny ignorance".

If you had bothered to read the first post on this thread, you would have noted that I gave clear details as to the location this discussion pertained.

As someone has already noted here, there are dozens of 'North-Easts' on this planet, and it is all about perspective.

My title was acurate, and succinct at the same time. It has nothing to do with the USA, or any other country for that matter. It was merely an 'opener' to the main portion of this thread.

I do wish that you, and others like you on this site, would learn that you should read and learn. When making comment it tends to be more productive to be methodical, logical and factual... not emotional and 'overtly patriotic'.

I have a pride in being British, but would not presume to shove it down someone else's throat as you have tried to do with your 'Yank-ism'.

Apologies if you feel my comments are offensive, but they are reasoned, and justified in response to your 'demands'.

What are the chances of you putting that video online?

The chances are good, I can do that if it matters. Some of it is in nightvision though. But you will only interpret it as lightning I think, well without the lighting folk. My town is buzzing with UFO stories right now.

I simply asked if anyone was experiencing similar, and/or if anyone knew what it might be.

It's lightening in the distance. No probs!!

It can appear yellow due to atmospherics and the way your eye sees the light.

I remember i saw something like this as well when i was in my home town (greymouth, nz), although no mist, i could see the lightning streaking accross the sky, without any thunder whatsoever, no noise at all so there doesn't have to be sound in an electrical storm.

Anyway nothing to be afraid off, you are in much more danger driving in your car than getting hurt by any of the weird happenings people go on about here at this site (which is just a golf ball to confuse the masses anyway...)

How about the "white rain"?
Has anyone seen this yet?
It lands on the ground almost like carwash suds?

ok here's my 2 bits to add to SOLO1's

We are at the 2nd home in Vermont this week. Last pm i go

out to the road with my telescope, clear skies, and temperature

low 60's (can see my breath, humid at ground level). We are on

a mountain side.

No clouds for 60 degrees altitude surrounding the pole star, none i can see.

It was the usual clear sky that allows me to see the milky way!

So what are the flashes in the sky? I was out for 1 hour

and NO thunder. none. My 6 year old noticed them 1st.

i could not detect a source.

Oddly earlier the same day - 1st time sighting - saw a military chopper

in our small part of the world.

Probably a kiowah warrior (oh-58) without armament flying

near the ski resort following the local river...related or unrelated?

Don't worry dampnickers (hee hee) we are a young, foolish/brutish

country. I too thought it was a coastal USA story, but am glad to see UK

ATS members posting - the brits (and others) make this forum so much

more valuable. Its like a real time, worldwide conspiracy and info monitoring

service. Huzzah!

I worked building the new 'super' school in Redcar. The one just next to a small water plant of some sort?

Sorry for going off topic...

I was at a rally over the weekend and there were several people there from the same town as the OP and several others from Redcar and other parts of NE England. When I asked them they all of spoke of the strange weather conditions on Thursday night.

It seems that the only part of the NE which wasn't really affected was the town where I live!
