It could be a car passing the window with its lights on, I have been watching the telly/on laptop in the dark before and have noticed flashing lights. I realised what it was later on.

there Is also a theory that a large majority of Flying Saucers(that is of ET origign) create fake clouds around them to hide themselves. I have seen a few Pictures that would certain this.

If anyone can remeber the photos taken by a supposed navy guy, wich where then handed to another navy guy, who then disclosed them to the public. They are Extremley clear colour photos of a saucer, with coloured lights and seems like it it slightly shrouded by a cloud.

It's interesting to read other people's experiences of last night's storm.

As for me, i was woke up about 2.30am by a massive bang. I seriously thought something had exploed it was that loud. I got up to look out the window but all i saw was really heavy rain so i got back into bed. I then heard a quiet but constant rumbling before i fell back asleep again.

Personally, i think it was just a storm, a pretty awesome one at that though.

I just hope nobody was stuck out there in my street last night, because not only would they have had the storm to deal with, but they also would have got an eyeful of me naked and hanging out the window looking around!

I feel uniquly qualified to respond to this thread:

Last night from dusk to dawn I was next to or inside a tent at the following location

Upon a tumulus
Windmill Hill
Nr Avebury
Wiltshire
England.

We were using the darkness of the new moon to try to find out some more about the 'Circlemakers.

We too experienced the strange flashing in the sky. It was of some concern to us as we were camped on top of a hill with stuff that is potentially conductive. So we were bing particularly attentive.

But I think I may have the answer!

Early in the night we had a spell of heavy rain with no hint of thunder rumbles.
After the clouds departed to the North East, Thunderheads were not apparent, the clouds were fairly thin. We could tell because the light pollution over Swindon, to the North, was iluminating them from below. But strange flashes were apparent coming from these.

Then the sky cleared and we were treated to the most wonderful shooting star show. Well worth the effort on it's own.

Could the flashes be the shooting star flashes lighting up clouds?

Game set and match methinks.

My first post I think.

Rgds to All those fellow truthseekers on this venerable site.

I would think this is a prevalent theory though not heard as much anymore but I agree when I was growing up and first started hearing about and getting interested in flying saucers, I remember many stories of passengers on planes seeing a UFO that would shape shift into a cloud or rather they would see clouds that would turn into ufo's following the plane etc, either way they're somehow inextricably linked to clouds. And let's not forget the most famous example in Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind do you recall how the big UFO that came for the boy initially appeared out of the sky? And yes that's a movie but the movie is obviously based on truth and eyewitness accounts and on real alleged reports and theories etc.

the flashes you saw as i did i can clearly be explained as i have been in touch with the met office and on the night in question they told me of a severe electrical storm in the atmosphere sheet lightning most probably. sorry to ruin your alienated mind lol

That would be "heat lightning" as they call it. Lightning from a distant storm, just far enough where you cant hear it it, but still see it. The fog can act like a diffuser and make it look like its flash is coming from all over. Watch a storm when its overhead. Sometimes you dont see any lightning bolts at all in the clouds. Just something called sheet lightning. Nothing strange about it. It is a pretty common occurrence here in the US. The lightning is just lighting up the clouds from the inside. I guess the fog just made things a little more interesting for you! It lit up the fog like a cloud!

I doubt it was shooting stars, a few nights ago I was camping up in the cheviots and saw lots of shooting stars, they wern't bright enough to compare with lightning though and thats what I saw last night, no doubt about it.

on another note I was looking in the local paper before and they have a story on the storm with a very catchy headline "weather torture" or somthing similarly dramatic, what caught my attention though were the pictures, there appears to have been flooding on the other side of village I live in, this has never happened in the 17 years I've lived here.

All the fields for a few K's round have been built into housing estates so that might be why this flooding has occured, hopefully this was a one off, I'd hate for this to become the norm.

If I can get photobucket working I'll stick the pics up

Thanks tuebor. I couldnt believe that so many people didnt know what heat lightning is. I have seen this my whole life in just about every state ive lived in the united states. But i suppose if someone never seen this before and suddenly it happened, They would be concerned and wondering what the deal is.

Hmmm i find it quite interesting that its not just one or two people that thought the thunder was ridiculously loud last night, almost everyone on here in te North East seems to hear it.

I'm not too sure about the whole thing of Lightning flashes with no thunder, because for me the lightning came then the thunder a couple of seconds after.

But there was definately something odd about last night.

threads like this drain our credibility to virtually nothing. Its a storm and some fog. Nothing more. Sound travels less far than light, even less in foggy conditions. You can't label everything unusual a 'phenomonom' (sic).

P.S. I AM a believer

Well i have one other possible answer for you but most if not all poeple are still not ready for this, to hide a air or low orbit battle between craft that do not use bullets or missals, the fog and cloud formations are the way to hide such an event. Even a missed shot that hits the earth will leave evidence that looks the same as a lightning strike, do to the fact that the weapons used are as powerful as lighting. I hope this gives you all something to ponder. Remember we are not to suppose to see them as there is no such thing as aleins.

I seen the movie, the mist. And in that movie a white fog rolls into town and its all quiet and stuff. Than a creepy thing with tentales tries to bust into a grocery store and grab some people.

Anyway, it turned out to be some military experiment where they ripped open a dimension from which freaks came through and terrorized the populace.

I dunno, maybe that answers your situation.

This has nothing to do with what you have , but, last week we had a freak storm come in. I was sitting on my computer around 8 pm reading ATS when all of a sudden there was this pfffft sound and a flash out my windows. I face the front windows so I can see traffic out front and I live in the country.

I waited for thunder as in the past lightning strikes, no airborne boom followed the lightning strike. Suddenly, there was a huge underground boom and my whole house raised up like it was on springs. The house raised up like three times as the boom continued underground. This was freaky and I called my sister who lives a couple miles away. She said she heard it to. I than hear police sirens all over the place.

My sisters husband has a police scanner and says the lightning hit a car wash a half mile from my house. I get into my car and drive over and sure as rain, there are the cops and emergency vehicles parked in the car wash lot. they also had orange cones around a traffic light control box about 800 feet from the car wash cause it was smoking and the traffic lights were out.

Apparently lightning hit a pole at the car wash, traveled underground and exploded the traffic light control box as it carried the waves underground to my house and destabilized the earths solidness to raise the ground up and down.

Weird
