No upcoming local FOX news commercials are ever live.
They are shot hours in advance so your local station can get them in the system to be cut and ready for air.
*edit* haha, I forgot to mention that I direct the morning news at my local FOX affiliate.
If there is breaking news we do a live cutin giving updates and teasing the nightly local news. If there is no breaking news we will do it like 20
minutes before it starts airing and it airs randomly throughout commercial breaks from 8:20 in the morning to like 3 or 4 I think, not positive, they
might air longer.
I'm not sure if you would consider it a commercial though, but I we have made lots of mistakes on these before, a few times we have even aired cutins
from other days because Master Control got the wrong tape. There is definately a chance for unnoticed mistakes to slip through though, by the time we
are doing the cutins it's been 3 hours of nonstop shows so everyone is burned out and fiending to get them out of the way.
We don't do any post production though, we shoot it as if it was live and just tape it, no editing.
If a reporter or anchor accidentally said a ship on mars instead of water though, the director would most likely stop them and start all over again,
not sure how something like that would go unnoticed but it's definately possible.
