How they will get into our homes!!!(it's starting...)

Karl,

When I started the above thread, I received over 70 flags, and 85 replies stating that I was "over thinking" and "over sensationalizing" a new law in Santa Barbara.

This Law gave the police , IMO, a very lenient standard by which they can now enter your home.

The thing is, when I see videos like the one you just posted, I am reminded that I AM RIGHT!!!

The fact is, there will not always be a video camera to defend the citizens side.

All of this is a direct result of legal maneuvers by criminals that force the police to,
1) hate the common man
2) Find any way possible to prosecute heavy criminals

These broad reaching laws trickle down and affect the common man so much that the incident in question happens.

How many police brutality threads have been posted on this site, and the common answer is, "well what didn't we see?"

This video shows us in this case. But what about the rest?

I am tired of living in fear of CPS and the police. They can destroy our lives, and as the cops dad said, "anything necessary, right?"

Now all it takes is for that same rookie cop to come barging in my house.

Hope I have a camera ready.

I used to be someone that always felt for cops and figured they had a tough job so would do what I could to be polite and helpful.

Cops scare me now, fear leads to hate, hate leads to viloence.

Cops better smarten up because once this sort of police action becomes expected and embedded in a culture, there will be no trust between cops and people. I have seen firsthand cops misrepresent, fabricate, distort and outright lie to cover their asses and after that experience, cops are the last people I ever want anything to do with unless absolute necessary.

Cops are starting to rate up there as causing as much violence, deprivation of liberty, distrust, fear and hate as much as your average criminal! At least a mugger will usually just want your money, that cop just wanted to hurt someone. That guy on the bike won't ever forget that incident.

The good cops out there better do something about the scumbags in their ranks or eventually face the wrath of the public which wll not be pretty, and we won't be taking the time to decide which cops are good or bad when that happens.

I hope it doesn't but the burden of how we percieve cops lies with the cops themselves so smarten up asap.

my 2 cents!

What burdman said.

Wow that sucked! I'd have his badge. Video makes it clear that the cop was the aggressor here.

Dude, I thought you were only replying once tonight?

I agree that is an unfortunate side effect of cops bending rules to get the big criminals. I don't envy the job that the police have. There is a lot of evil in the world and they face it every day. Unfortunately that has turned (what appears to be a majority) a lot of them callous against the people that they are supposed to be serving. It has become an Us or Them mentality of the cops vs the world.

I am not a criminal, yet I get a little nervous everytime I see a cop now. It shouldn't be that way.

I disagree. I think the cop purposely walked into the cyclist's path. It wasn't like when you are on the same path with someone else walking at you and you both move kind of weave back and forth until you don't both go the same direction (if that makes sense).

And in slow mo, you can see the cop shove the guy to the left of the screen. If he'd been in front, he would have been the one taken down because of the momentum and the guy would go over the handlebars.

Cops do scare me. I went to a trial for a stop sign ticket and it was a joke. The cop lied. I brought photos with me (unfortunately - in retrospect - I didn't bring 2 that I really needed). The judge acted like I was a complete moron. He let me speak but had already made his descision before I opened my mouth. The cop's word was taken as truth and he asked the judge to add $50 to my ticket as an "appearance fee". I had to pay 50 dollars for the cop to show up and testify against me. I was penalized for going to trial instead of just paying the fine. All those bastards care about is getting my money. The did not protect or serve me or anyone else.

The cop lying in the article made me think of my "trial". I'm scared of more of this type of thing. The cop lies and without evidence the cop's word is taken. I'd be so pissed if I was that guy and no one caught it on tape and I had to pay the cop for hurting me.
That's the kind of thing that makes people take out a hit on others.

What everyoen else has said is right. The public is ignorant, and this ignorance is workign to the cop's advantage now. But if events like this keep happenign and change public opinion enough, people are going to "ignorantly" believe all cops are like this.
In most cases they will be right, but there will always be a few good ones out there.

The good cops really need to do somethign about the bad ones or sooner or later they are all going to be viewed as targets by the general public.

One thing I've stil never gotten over is the someone being charged with resisting arrest. OF COURSE I'm going to resist. I don't want to be arrested!!!

For an hour's worth of time from a laywer, I could buy myself a nice Smith and Wesson and take care of the problem permanently. I don't like thinking about that kind of stuff, but I am sadly realizing things may get bad enough where I may actually have to do this.

Yeah, it appears to be very obvious to me that he spotted the biker, singled him out, and started closing on him with the full intention of knocking him off the bike. It could be my bias from reading the headline, but I don't think I could see it any other way.

There is no question, no matter how many times viewed, that the officer deliberately assaulted the cyclist, moving into his path and pushing him off. You can even see the cyclist move to the left to avoid hitting him.

The officer should be on charges for a) assault, and b) perverting the course of justice by filing charges against the cyclist to try and cover his own aggression.

I do believe as video cameras get cheaper and smaller in size we will find a lot more videos showing the truth.

That is the only reason why he had his badge removed. If there was no video of him doing what he did that cop would still have his badge.

It is nice that everyone carries a video camera just at the right times. More video cameras for the public!

I saw this earlier this morning on the news.

No real comment except to say the potential for harm extended past just the cyclist. Someone in the crowd on the sidewalk could have been injured or killed and even the cop himself could have been hurt if his action didn't go as planned-- just stupid.

I've decided if I'm on a jury and the state initiates the force without threat or use of force on the part of the perp, I'll acquit.

I wouldn't mind relaxed profanity standards on these kinds of threads at all.

Then the cops will just start beating down people for simply having video cameras especially if they saw someone taping an incident.

I guess if you want to do the "be tough on crime" schtick then the cops become the criminals and this and worse becomes commonplace.

Shocking!
watching the video I was stunned by the brute force that this cop used to "apprehend" a suspect. This was dangerous, stupid, irresponsible and heavy handed.

No matter what this guy did, during the course of a demonstration one should not be assaulted for their participation. From what I have read this is a peaceful rally against an unjust law. This sort of behavior by an NYPD officer is in my opinion gross negligence at best and unconstitutionally bigoted at worst.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Although a judge ruled in 2006 that the monthly Critical Mass bicycle rides could proceed without a permit, the NYPD's stance remains somewhat adversarial. Though the city has not been enforcing the controversial parade permit law when it comes to Critical Mass, police have been ticketing cyclists during the ride for such infractions as not having the required lights.

More information about this assault and battery by this "Law Enforcement Officer" is available here...VIDEO: COP BODY-CHECKS BICYCLIST
OFFICER STRIPPED OF BADGE, GUN

A rookie cop - the son of a highly respected New York City detective - has been stripped of his badge and gun after being caught on video viciously attacking a bicyclist who was part of a Times Square demonstration.

The startling YouTube video shows Officer Patrick Pogan, 22, apparently setting his sights on - and then tackling - a bicyclist as he pedaled along Seventh Avenue as part of last Friday's controversial Critical Mass ride

This cop needs to retire immediately, if I were his superior officer, this guy wouldnt have a job, if he somehow is able to keep his job I wouldn't let this guy patrol a garbage dump.

Someone is on a two wheeled vehicle, this cop decides to shove this person off of the conveyance in order to detain him? Injuring the driver of the bicycle in the process? Not a way to make an arrest.

Well if the guy wouldnt of been protesting he wouldnt of had to worry about getting the Shiite kicked out of him. Lesson to future protesters protest at your own risk theres no place for protesting in this country. (Sarcasm Finished)

Suspect? What did he suspect?

It's not likely you'd get that far without being a tried and true member of the Blue Brotherhood by having made an extended demonstration that you're in agreement with this kind of conduct.

Suspect? What did he suspect?

Did you read the article? He was arrested for Attempted Assault and Resisting Arrest...(making him a suspect) The cop more than likely was thinking of ticketing him for a no headlight charge.

A representative for TIMES UP! tells us that the cyclist in this video was arrested, held for 26 hours, and charged with attempted assault and resisting arrest.
