the thread is open and the topic is celebrities and how their speaking out impacts ufology. not just robbie but all of them. That said, the one man that he is, he sure has introduced a hell of a lot of new people to the subject. I've noticed a few of these newer members slowly making their way into threads that don't contain posts by a certain singer.

so then after 37 pages skept!cals q. has finally been answered. YES it does make a differance. we can all sleep sound tonight

hello everyone

wow, all this agitation for the arrival of chrisonabike, wow
me, also I am new on this site!! me also I want as many post!!!
well, have considering this video?

theorionconspiracy.com...

that disturbed me a little because that made me reflect lengthily on our destiny!!!

when I was younger, I saw in the sky that several triangular forms with three lights . I was in the countryside no noise occurred same step the noise of a plane, nothing! ! !
my mother was with me and it had the same reaction that me, one kept that for us!!
I specify that these forms flew to the top of us very gently as if they analyzed some things.bizarre, not?

with regard to, chrisonabike, that must be very frustrating not to be taken with serious by some.according to what I understand, there are many fans who started to like the UFOs since that was official on ATS, I find that well because more there will be people informing themselves on these phenomena more there will be matters to work. (you understand me?)
now is what chrisonabike could be quiet!!!
hum, I am not certain of that.
I have a question if chrisonabike wanted to have its anonymity on ATS why to have said its true name? (unless I badly understood what it passed!!).
now I note that very courageous his share to be interested in these various things which occur and to put itself particularly in the “connection” with the “simple” people( of the people who are not showbizz).thank you from time to time to leave your world, that given pleasure of knowing that certain artists remain “normal"!!!!! lol
I hope that it will find answer to its questions.
I hope that you will have very included since english is not my source language.
thank you with all.

First of all welcome to this website

It is an interesting question you asked:

Why did chrisonabike come out in the media that he visits this website? Just to make the UFO interview with Jon Ronson containing more information about the interest there is for this ssubject, to make a statement that he is really into thiss subject? Was it a 'test' to his fanbase to see how many would follow..?

I think the 'comming out' was really only on this website as in the UFO interview was not mentioned what the identity is of chrisonabike..

You could expect members that are not neccesaryly a fan would react on that in their own way, as according to me it is always interesting when celebs have a 'comming out', especially with 'news' that is not average on what they do that makes them a celeb..

I find the question that spiritofwandering asks also interesting:

Why did chrisonabike came forward and reveiled his identity, with all the rolling stones that came afterwards.

I have no doubt that his interest for this subject is sincere, but to prevent himself for all sorts of reactions, I am not sure if that was a wise thing to do..

I respect the guts n balls it must have take to do that, reveil his true identity on ATS..! But like said, was that really a wise thing to do?

ps. it made so much impact on me somehow that last night I was actually dreaming about it.. I dreamt that center subject person had more then 1 login identity for ATS, can Mr. Springer officially confirm that this is not the case? As I also have been reading chrisonabike get's a celebrity treatment being a member here.. No Offence though, I'd understand for the 'good' reasons!

With your questions awnsered, some of mine are not..

Does this mean this discussion is over and done with..?? I think there is plenty more to say to celebs in common and the interest for not all dayly subjects..

Crakeur is tiring of the off topic stuff.

If you want to discuss something other than celebritites, their sightings and how their coming forward has helped or hurt ufology, have at it in a new thread in the proper forum.

this thread is not to discuss your pets, your clothing choices, how amazing Crakeur is (very) or anything else that doesn't relate directly to the paragraph above this one.

thank you.

thank you Crakeur, wise words

nina hagen claimed that she saw an U.F.O 1981 in USA...and she's pretty sure that aliens visit the earth one day...she was one of the first who talked about her experience in common...i found a nice article about her...

but i found that video on youtube...
its about her song zero zero U.F.O

and here are the lyrics...

A UFO in Malibu
Where it came from, I don't know
I just woke up and there it was,
Paralyzing Mrs. Hagen-dazs
I saw it with my own two eyes,
Hey I'm not telling you any lies
Pink, blue, purple and yellow
Goodness gracious, I felt so mellow
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
Uh-oh, here we go!
The Gods of aquarius are coming with UFOs
And they love me and they love you
And what they have to say is true
The good old communication
With Holy Spirits of Gods creation is true,
but our church denies it
God when will they realize it?
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
That's right
The power of the UFO was bigger than me and I must know
I couldn't move, I couldn't groove
I just heard the Higher Power
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO
Zero Zero Zero Zero UFO UFO

Being in the position he was in.. what other choice did he have if he wanted to get sincere feedback.
Why come to ats to come forward about it?
Because that is what we do here. We analyze and research this topic and share our own experiences and bounce ideas off each other.
If you are going to come out about an experience like this the best place to go is a place where that is the main topic and its pretty much ALL we discuss in this particular forum.
Did he need to say who he was? Not necessarily. We give feedback and advice to everyone who comes here to share their experiences. However if anyone were to notice a correlation between his experience and what was reported by him as his real world persona then questions would arise as to his identity and he would have had to prove who he was to avoid being banned for hoaxing or defrauding. Instead.. he came to ATS as he was with everything in the open already so that those issues and problems would not arise. It also gave the powers that be a chance to look out for the site as a whole and keep an eye on how this affected ATS.

I think he did the right thing. Did he get the answers he needed? I don't know.. do any of us yet have those answers we need? will we ever?
I just don't know but we do the best we can to help and having others around you that have had their own experiences is helpful to anyone.. you don't feel so alone and ODD.

Thank you for your sympathetic reply..

I just have one remark.. and I quote:

"However if anyone were to notice a correlation between his experience and what was reported by him as his real world persona then questions would arise as to his identity and he would have had to prove who he was to avoid being banned for hoaxing or defrauding."

Why not believe a person in the first place, being a celeb or not, that is not important according to me. Sometimes I am questioning myself, reading various posts on various threads, if some of the members on here are maybe 'too paranoid' for not trusting certain information that is out there. (no offence, especially not towards you) People are (still) free to make up their own minds and opinions..

My point is why would he have to prove who he is? What exactely is the issue for a celeb being not instantly 'trusted or believed' when comming out with information such like what happend here?

Wasn't it enough for him to reveal in the UFO interview that he comes on here?

Why is it (sometimes) for people in common so difficult to just take things as they are?

Why, especially for celebs (but hey, what do I know, lol) must they always give 'double' prove..?

Why are people on here so scared for hoaxing or defrauding (maybe I should add: especially when it involves celebs who come out in the open of being here)..?

Is this maybe because of the same 'rush' fans get when they know a celeb's 'location'..? (WoW, this celeb is on here, let's check that out and see how far we can go..)

Or maybe because maybe the neighbours might find out that you yourself is on here..? (refering to some paranoid posts I've been reading)

With all respect to the long lasting ATS community, as I am still quite new on here
And maybe because of my newness I have a lot of questions raising..

Last questions:

How many celebs are actually on here what the staff 'officially' knows about (leaving out if they ever came forward in the open on being here)..

Why is it so important to know if a certain member is really 'THE' celeb or not, after hearing something in the news..?

Who knows, maybe I am Lindsay Lohan not reveiling my true identity, sorry that was a bad joke..

there are a few reasons why we would want to verify someone's identity, if they were making a grand claim. This goes for folks making wild claims based on credentials that would warrant such accusations (whistle blowers) as well as for folks claiming to be someone famous. For starters, we'd want to verify the validity of the story. If something from here gets picked up by the main stream media and it turns out to be a hoax, we will be the ones with the black eye.
second, it sometimes helps to protect the member. we've had members make claims in the past and then admit to their hoax when other members managed to track down where they were posting from (ghost raven anyone?). If an admin or an owner posts that so and so is really a military man operating out of such and such base, that should be enough for the members to focus on the story and to leave the identity aspect alone.
Lastly, in some cases, our site can be flooded with members and anonymous posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the discussions and this is disruptive to the topics. If we are aware of a member who is claiming fame and turns out to be lying, we can make an announcement that this is not the case, hopefully minimizing the amount of nonsense posting.

Fair enough..

As being a newbie on ATS I am not really aware what happend and how things were handled in the past.

I would not want this forum to be 'closed' because of hoax or major bad publicity etc..

It is far too interesting what information and opinions can be found on here. I understand that there can be a 'fragile' situation that raises it's doubts sometimes..

I am in a way 'thankful' that this site was mentioned in Robbie's UFO (research) interview, as most probably without him mentioning I would not have 'found' this site. As I was turning 'in circles' on sites I visit with similar subjects that are in my own language, to me it was somekind of refreshing becomming a member here. New people, other opinions..

we were thrilled to be mentioned in the article and thrilled to learn that a public figure was coming forward as a member. I'm wondering if this will be the catalyst that brings others out of the woodwork. I'm guessing/assuming that there are other high profile members that we are unaware. Other than Springer of course.

these are all very valid questions and i guess we should try and see both sides. there have been and probably still are rw fakers out there. they caused a lot of harm among fans. these fans really believe(d) they were talking with the real rw, when in fact they were frauded by some seriously ill and perverted people who played mind games and even sexually harrassed them.so it's not so easy to simply 'trust' rw or any other celeb. you always take a risk without proof and not everyone is willing or able to take this risk, especially if you're a site admin.

on the other hand, how tiring must it be to always have to give proof? as a celeb you always have to prove you' re real. rw himself once said that he finds these sitiations very sad and frustrating.

so there are two sides here. trust or mistrust. i understand a huge website doesn't want to take the risk as they have a reputation to lose. if it's just one single person who has to decide between trust or mistrust it doesn't have any major effect on the world if the trust isn't justified. it 'just' messes one persons life up.

it would be nice if everyone could afford just to wait and see... sooner or later time will tell if deal with a hoax or not. but a patience policy isn't suitable for a website so i guess there's no other way to protect the integrity of the board as to get proof of a posters true identity.
