we were thrilled to be mentioned in the article and thrilled to learn that a public figure was coming forward as a member. I'm wondering if this will be the catalyst that brings others out of the woodwork. I'm guessing/assuming that there are other high profile members that we are unaware. Other than Springer of course.

i did a post which has vanished so here goes again....

seriously, would you come out of the woodwork here if you were a celeb?
you have been a member here for years and have prob seen many posts get torn to pieces....imagine a public figures?

only one person here can really say wether or not after all these 'fan' posts that it was the right thing to do or not. unfortunately, if he does want to become an active member of ats, he'll have to have another user name. remaining annoymous prob would have givan the member more freedom of expression. if he has an alias already then

Why did chrisonabike came forward and reveiled his identity? I think that is one interesting question. But maybe the answer is not complicated. If he is trying to give answers in the topics he must do this in one end. I think in the other end it is just true… He tries to communicate and to do.. like all the others .. And who knows.. maybe there’s one or more another celeb out in the forum and discuss also… In the end everyone is nearly the same – celeb or not – maybe the non-celebs don’t have so many problems with paparazzi…
If he really use one or more another accounts here.. why not.. I think he is not the only one who makes this. If I am him I would do it…
I don’t think that all damages his career...And he described if it is like this, that wouldn't really matter… Maybe his management is not really amused about all this…
Additionally I don’t think that the 'ufo community' will be hurt because of this - on the contrary it will help … because many people start to collect informations about the subject…start to talk about and in the and start to engage..

I think the celebrity-type who tends to kind of feel stalked by just everybody and always hunted by potential fans shouldnt come out with his/her real personality on a public forum. A composure like that would make it difficult for people to interact with such a person as normal as with everybody else.

If a celeb wants to make people pay attention to for example a forum like ats and therefore wants to come out with his/her real name, the celeb should stop apprehend him/herself as the “famous person” and interact with everybody just completely normal like every other member of a community would do. That way, I think the celeb would get the most out of a forum like ats.

Also I think especially on a platform like ats most of the users do not care about someone being a celeb or not, because the ppl here think about more important topics than such as some terrestrial-made-up things like fame, celebs etc…

agreed. I think that, for the most part, our members have treated chrisonabike like they would anyone else. Our content is such that, for the most part, folks enjoy the ability to post behind a pseudonym. I think that this is more true for the folks who post their tales of alien fisticuffs or their time travelling escapades etc.

depends on the situation. If I thought it might help get the word out on a topic or issue I felt needed more publicity I would. If I thought my coming forward might help in some way I would.

on the contrary, I think that our members have, if anything, given chrisonabike a bit more leeway with his story. this is either out of respect for his celebrity status or simply because they read his story and didn't find anything that would push them to lash out at him. Truth is, the posts that get the flame treatment are usually outlandish and wild and backed up with more outlandish claims and no means of verification. Robbie's sighting was told with only the story itself being the so called outlandish and wild claim and he had several witnesses to the event. The posts that get the nasty treatment usually involve sex with aliens, time travelling trips with jesus or ordinary folks who beat up aliens. then you have the horrific photos and videos that are harshly debunked. Robbie simply said "I saw something. it was strange. I don't know what it was. My mates saw it too."

hard to treat someone as tho they were trying to pull a fast one on you when, in reality, they never said anything other than they saw something strange.

I mentioned it earlier. We've been inundated with posts from his fans. you guys see the off topic tags but you don't see the anonymous posts that are not made live. there are tons of them. yes, he's brought fans with him but some of these fans joined and started poking around and they are now somewhat active on the boards. Rob introduces his fans to something new, some of them enjoy it and become members of the site. Nothing wrong with that. Also, what if one of these fans comes here, pokes around and says "hey, I have those old files grandpa kept from his time in the service and perhaps the folks at ATS will know what to do with them" and then, who knows, perhaps we learn the truth about (insert gov't conspiracy here).

for all we know, he does have another name on the site. I do think that he would be able to post as chrisonabike with little or no trouble from his fans. For starters, they are learning quickly that we monitor our forums seriously and that the best way to talk to Rob is to talk to him about the topic at hand. the posts are no longer "Hi, I saw a ufo. It was glowing. Rob, why'd you sing this song after that song at this arena and when you pointed to the crowd, it was at me right?"

In my opinion it is not very helpful to make a double account.
It`s important to take a clear position and for the sake of clarity,
and thats all very well to say that if you`re a celeb, the way I see it.
His interests attract widespread international attention, so I can empathize
with him, simply because being responsible.
But may this is exactly what is to learn...
Most of us have had a spiritual coming-out, and though I´m not famous,
it was often a difficult job to do. You don`t have to have fears to show your authentic identity,
and it even works much better if you respect and (try to) love yourself at first. It`s because
you don`t need the sympathy by any other person. That makes you feel good and free to pave
the way for announcing your truth!

thanks for your reply.

i guess if ufology needed a bit more exposure you'd know. i would have thought it already had so, guess not.

re posting, disecting ect. i didnt necessarily mean his inial post, i meant posts in general. i guess i think people on forums tend to be more 'colorful' with their responses and someone in public figure would be judged more by their responses. if you think respected....you have more faith than me (which is great by the way).

kudos to him if he is under another name. make your job alot easier

Crakeur is tiring of the off topic stuff.

If you want to discuss something other than celebritites, their sightings and how their coming forward has helped or hurt ufology, have at it in a new thread in the proper forum.

this thread is not to discuss your pets, your clothing choices, how amazing Crakeur is (very) or anything else that doesn't relate directly to the paragraph above this one.

thank you.

Also getting tired for according to me sometimes 'unreasonable' censoring of posts, I started a new thread in BTS People forum:

Celebrity Stargazing - For ALL the Off Topic stuff..! click the link:

www.belowtopsecret.com...

It is possible in this thread to discuss Robbie related subjects, celebs in common and stuff you need to get off your chest related aswell that can't be said on this thread!

Just wanted to let you guys know, for those who are interested and want to have a discussion that is not so keen of sticking to the topic all the time..

Hi Cosmicsly ! And hi to everyboby. I'm new to this interesting place. I read a lot of messages till then, from different and very interesting people, and now I want express my opinion about Chrisonabike. I think that my freedom end where begins the freedom of another person. I mean, if Chrisonabike reveals his true identity where's the problem ?
Chrisonabike/Rob is a person like us, with interesting experience to share with us. I think the only difference between Rob and another person is the way in which express his creativity, writing songs and sing. Someone express yourself painting, another writing, another planning houses or making sport. The good thing in this place is that everyone can express experiences and opinion without prejudice. ( Sorry for my English, and thanks Cosmicsly for your attention.) I send a BIG HUG to Rob.

I wrote earlier in this topic about David Bowie and his songs particular about these themes.....

I think Bowie's got his inspiration those days from the first man on the moon (1969 a space oditty- first walk on the moon)

Nevertheless the songs were great and Bowie also was a fantastic actor.
(I really love "Merry xmas Mr Lawrence"), but let's stay on topic. And

Don't know if Bowie was really interested, guess he did't have internet these days and can imagine ufogology by then was only for those who smoked too much marihuana

I'm sure more (as we call them) celebrities are visiting and posting this site......while reading through many interesting topics on ATS I saw that actor posting( forgot his name but he did some really great acting in movies like Mrs Doubtfire and Death poets society. The guy isn't posting anonymously, maybe because he hasn't got all those crazy fans stalking serious meant topics and posting off topic # which polutes this site!!

I love Bowie, but I was also not aware he had any sightings, nor about that movie. I guess being a child of the 80's I knew him best from Labyrinth, I am not sure how knowing that he had sightings of his own would have affected my interest in UFOlogy as I had already had my own sighting by the time I saw Labyrinth.

I think I would have found it interesting and comforting to know that he had also had a sighting but I really don't think it would have changed my interests.. now for someone who had no interest in UFO's and had never seen one.. how would that affect them? I think thats hard to speculate because I don't think his experience was very well known.

Off topic... While I was watching your clips my daughter asked me who David Bowie was and I youtubed some of his music video's for her and she said OMG he looks like Mikey! Mikey being one of my twin boys. I never noticed it before but he looks just like him only with brown hair. Crazy!

I think you saw someone posting with an actors picture, people use them for their avatars all the time. Unless the three amigo's state someone is who they say they are.. you should assume they are NOT. If you hadn't noticed hoaxing is common in this forum. Not saying they are hoaxing.. just saying you shouldn't accept anything as a fact unless its verified. This goes for everything.. especially claims of sightings and contact. Its one thing to believe something could exist its another to just believe every story or claim. There is someone walking around with an AV of Bruce Cambell but I am pretty sure thats not him either.

I had an AV of Vaitiare Bandera once from Stargate... but that doesn't mean I am her.

I assure you .. I AM NOT! That actually did cause some confusion at the time so from then on I don't use anyone elses face in my AV's

...nice
, in some cases I agree with you.
Regarding the off-topic posts: Like you said most of the off-topic posts are maybe crazy fans.. But you can find in this thread off-topic posts which have nothing to do with stalking. If you make maybe one joke f.e... it can be also off-topic post... In my case it was like that...

But being on-topic: I also didn't hear something about that David Bowie had one sighting.. But he is a great artist..
