I don't speak for AM, he does that on his own just fine.

I asked for the citation on the following comment you made

You want to know what and how what happened, someone noble told someone nobler to f*** off.. Thats how freemasonry came about.. But hey whatever fancy story you want afterwards by all means.

I never said society was obligated to me.

So you say, but no one knows for sure when and where Freemasonry started.

And I love your response to be perfectly honest. You ask a question of you, him, us, yourself and want to ponder it. Satisfying or not I think you are a curious person and that to me is the hallmark of the child brain...which IMO leads to finding answers

Then again as you say, it could just be that simple. The nice part about Masonry is that it is that simple...for us. It doesn't have to be satisfying for anyone outside of a lodge. It probably doesn't need expanding but I will say this.

Being raised and completing 3rd, I did exactly what was suggested to me. I didn't read a book on the rituals because I didn't want to know what was coming. But my favorite and weirdest surprise to me was that my 'coming to light' actually gave me WAY more questions than it answered.

It's great for me because I like questions almost more than I like answers. When I find new questions it proves to me daily how little I know. Some people (not you I imagine) see this as a terrible and disastrous thing. like "oh know...now I know even less than I did before!"

Instead, I see it as..."wonderful...now I have even more to seek." Whether I move to a Rite is questionable....I may just straight up stay in the lodge as an MM and leave it at that. What I do know is these quotes, stories, and allegorical methods are what wake my mind up. Add that to the fact that I love giving, helping and food, and Masonry is perfect for me

The only question that I will NEVER be satisfied by is why one of our cooks keeps putting onions in the ham and bean soup...

You HAVE to have onions in ham and bean soup.

So...you mean the answer to the question 'what do you most desire' wasn't "a big ol' plate of liver and onions, some cornpone on the side, and a pile of turnip greens with fatback and a splash of pepper sauce, and a big old jar of ice tea"?

I had sworn to my brothers and Dad to give that as a response, when asked I smiled and hesitated, and if I could have seen it, I am pretty sure my family members facepalmed in anticipation.

eta: actually, I had sworn to either say "supper!" or "more beer!" but it's the thought that counts...

Freemasonry started with the Hermes Trismegistus, Gnostic teachings; the Essenes, the Knights Templar.

Says someone who has made all sorts of claims without ever providing evidence.

Your statement is a theory and one better placed with Hermeticism.

Can I join if I'm a girl? How should I go about doing that? I know some Masons--should I ask them? I don't want to go into Masonry--but I do find it interesting and have seen Masonry equipment and techniques before at my friend's house. I want to get involved and I want to learn--I've been interested in the freemasons since I first heard of them as a child. For the longest time I didn't even realize that they were real, but when I did I had the idea of joining. I have heard that you don't need to be invited, but then how should I go about applying? Would they want a member who hasn't finished college yet? I'm going to school for psychology but I want to go into law. I like creating things and I am very artistically-inclined. What do you think? Is there something else that I should join instead that would better suit me as a person? Thank you for letting us ask these questions. That's really cool of you ^_^

One of the Masons I know has the last name of Plato. And I know they are descendants of the original. Was the original Plato a freemason as well? It's at their house that I saw the equipment and techniques (and secret rooms) and was told some small details about Masonry that I struggle to remember for some reason. I probably wasn't supposed to see those things, but they were shown to me by my friend (who isn't a Mason, I don't believe--that is his father). So it's not like I looked at these things without being invited or anything. But I'm sorry if admitting that I saw them is bad or something

Why do you disagree with that? It's true. Life is pointless without an obligation to something higher than oneself. And I'm not a Mason. That's just what I've always known to be true. It makes sense and it really is that simple. It's just logic. Your feelings on the matter don't bear any weight because it's logical. You'd need a logical disagreement in order to debate it I would imagine. But I don't think that there is a logical argument that can debate it, at least not one that I can think of.

I also didn't say it. But I had them convinced I was going to. All the way down to the punchline.

Dad would have gone ahead with the throat cutting/tongue ripping thing on the spot.

Thank you for reiterating; as I stated, Hermes Trismegistus authored himself and created Hermeticism (fantastic, how does one author itself). No theory at all as is included in my initial statement.

This is why one should never reply to "Ask me any question regarding...thread". You just do not know what dishes wind up at the pot luck dinner that could potentially poison you.
