I hardly doubt any aliens will be thinking about disclosure in the current state of affairs regarding the iraq war etc.

My thought is that his stories are just that-stories. Completely made up. Many of his ideas have been debunked here on ATS. When challenged to produce facts, his stories disappear into thin air.

Case in piont:
9/11 holographic plane idea
or
the fact that the planes didn't fit in the whole in one of the WTC's.

I'm sure his pilot credentials are fantastic but it doesn't automatically give him credentials in other area's and many of his past statements have proven that is the case.

His stories are entertaining and he personality is certainly equally entertaining and that shouldn't be dismissed. He's a funny likable guy you'd probably love to drink a beer with but....

MrChipps....I've been biting my tongue. And reading a lot of others' responses...but here goes ---

I've never met Capt. Lear, though some months ago I offered to meet and buy him a beer and talk 'shop' (aviation)...response was nothing less than an expensive Cognac and Cuban cigar would suffice.
I laughed my arse off!!

There is no doubt that Capt. Lear (please, note -- I always refer to him with that honorific) is a decent human being, a loving husband, father and grandfather with a fabulous set of accomplishments and experiences and knowledge through out his lifetime. He's likely got a million-and-one stories to tell, as well. He also has a well-honed sense of humor, I believe.

Most pilots do have a sense of humor....and, believe me, since I've flown with plenty of them in my time....sometimes it's the 'whistling through the
cemetery' kind of humor....'dark humor', I call it. I'm that way, sometimes to my detriment.

I will not sit here and judge any man who I have not met. I found ATS because his name jumped out, when he was a 'Conspiracy Master'. I felt the need, early on, as a newbie and an airline pilot, to speak out and question some of his bonafides.

Reason --- Capt. Lear rarely talked aviation, but when he did, he questioned MY knowledge. Well....given the limitations of writing on a web forum, misunderstandings are inevitable. BUT, I believe Capt. Lear retired off of a Lockheed L-1011. That is basically 1970s tech....early INS, not IRS. No GPS of any kind, of course.

Looks like Capt. Lear has found a new hobby, in retirement.......

(I'm sticking with model airplanes, and model trains, personally).

John Lear belongs on this site. He could come back but I believe he won't because he is pig-headed as are the ATS managers, stubborness on both sides I fear. Neither side will budge even though the situation can be resolved, childlike it is. If either party was willing to swallow some pride.....

Anway, for the topic, I don't believe any of the outlandish claims made by John Lear, the claims sound like madness, but if you don't take JL too seriously his threads are entertaining.

(someone make a move and get talking to each other)

What on Earth are you talking about? John has a welcome invitation to post anytime? how are the ATS managers being stubborn and pig-headed?

Springer states:

can assure everyone here that John's "retirement" was completely John's choice. There is no way any "outside forces" or "third parties" are going influence this site, PERIOD. Anyone who has paid attention knows I have been one of the most vocal supporters of John's ability to post his ideas, theories, etc... here on ATS and that hasn't changed a bit.

That being said, when we found out he wasn't coming back we were left with a decision to make about his forum.

Decommissioning his dedicated "Conspiracy Master" forum and moving his threads to the Skunk Works forum is the best way, as this opens up the possibility of a new speculative UFO/Aliens-centric Conspiracy Master to join our ranks. I have been in communications with one of the best in the field and he has agreed to join us after he completes his new book. Stay Tuned...

While we're fully aware that John's tenure on ATS has had its share of controversy from time to time, for the most part I and our staff feel that having John as an ATS Conspiracy Master for the past year was a positive experience. There are many of us that don't agree with his theories, but if you disagree with the idea of supporting highly-speculative ideas as a means to test the upper boundaries of our imagination, then quite frankly, ATS is not for you. John's theories and postings embrace this ideal with gusto, and they will always be welcomed and needed within the context of ATS topics.

And we've seen some oddly disparaging comments about the Skunk Works forum as a result of this... no one described the intent of that forum better than SkepticOverlord, in this post: "We started the SkunkWorks forum as a place where extremely speculative ideas and topics could be embraced and enthusiastically supported." In fact, I believe some of John's theories were the original inspiration for the forum, prior to his elevation to Conspiracy Master.

I'd also like to add that the name "SkunkWorks" is in reference to the Top Secret departments of engineering/design firms that create the unimaginable.
en.wikipedia.org...

A couple members have expressed some concern that perhaps we may have lost an index of his threads. This is something we didn't consider before making this move, so if members would like to collaborate on assembling a list of their favorite or most-important John Lear threads, we'll put up a new thread or page that contains an indexed listing.

Springer...

So how to you come to the conclusion that both parties are being childish? I believe Springers statement was very adult like, IMHO.

You're thinking very two dimensional, Madhatter. Ever heard the saying ''two sides to each story''?

So he left on his own? Well that suck's, I truly enjoyed reading his thread's. Some for entertainment purpose's, and I always thought he did a good job entertaining thought's of the mind.

What would it take to make him a conspiracy master again? I always felt he added alot of zest to ATS. And It just seem's like something has been missing since he has been gone.

I'm just glad someone with enough "clout" finally decided to get rid of his forum in the "expert" section....experts can offer opinions on their topics, something mr lear could rarely do.

Sad man, full of fiction and unwilling to do anything but "play".

ps...hi john, with your "annonymous" postings

After he accused this place of having an agenda not involving truth seeking, I doubt he will be coming back (thank Christ)

I respect his opinions as a pilot and aviator.

Regarding to the moon stuff and such, I don´t believe in anything but I´d like to see him selling the ideas to some movie producer

Over the years Lear has been coming out
with more and more ridiculous stories, bordering
on the unstable imo!
Whether he believes everything that comes
out of his own mouth I`ve no idea, but I believe
he`s been got at in some way,and used as a tool
to inject fear into the subject!

My thoughts:

There is a system or methodology to publicly releasing black information and that is 'plausable lunacy' (my term)

Did the Three Amigos start to spread lies about John Lear out of spite? John sure did about them...

If you go back and actually read what happened, you can see that about 90% of the follishness that happened was caused by John. It almost seemed as if he wanted to get post banned because he saw people weren't swallowing everything he had to say and begging for more like on his other forums.

Not only do you have no proof that machines capable of such a thing exist, you also have not one shred of evidence that aliens exist. None. You're as bad as Lear was, and you should'nt even be in this thread adding nonsense.

There issome truth in what John Lear talks about. The secret space program. Nova had a program about the Astospies where both the US and the Soviet Union put up manned recon mission orbiting the earth. All this was kept secret from the public is just now coming out. What else has our government kept secret and from the public about the Space program.
