I dont recall stories of the USSR going through any countries methodically raping and murdering as a standard of practice.

Since when was it standard practice to methodically rape and murder. If there were a few individuals that went rogue and murdered someone that wasn't part of the army or raped someone that doesn't make it standard practice or methodical.

i dont recall stories of the KGB teaching any other countries the tactics of Murder and rape and terrorism in order to instil terror in the populations to make them kowtow to dictatorship. These were regular US practices, during Vietnam, el salvador, cambodia, laos, cuba, columbia, etc.

Ummm, sounds like you got the U.S. confused with Communist China and Russia, infact that is exactly what happened to North and South Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, now look how poor those countries are. North Vietnam was coerced into Communism, then they turned their aim on South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The U.S. never engaged and kowtowed these countries into dictarship, they were trying to prevent China from doing it, but in the end they kowtowed to China's imperialist communism. My gf's dad was a highly respected Officer for Laos when it was a democracy, they had their own flag and their own King and Queen, the Communists took control, changed their flag, their last king was forced to step down and was sent to a "re-education camp".

Her 2 uncles were also officers, while her father fled with them to Thai land her 1 uncle since he didn't have a family decided to try and defend his position refusing to be "re-educated", they murdered him for it. Her other uncle was "re-educated" and has not talked to her family since. So don't talk about being kowtowed into a dictatorship. Those countries were raped and stolen and forced into dictatorship and it wasn't the U.S. that did it.

In your entire response, I found nothing more then strawman arguments and statements not based in fact.

Warsaw pact made in response to NATO? You do know that the members of the Warsaw Pact were NOT given a choice right?

But for people like you, the US is always wrong and the other side, no matter who they are, are always right. Pointless to discuss with someone like you.

So your premise is, as long as YOUR limited daily life is untouched, anything else goes! Sounds like you would have been happy in Germany in the 30s.

Gee what an intelligent response. How long did you have to think that one up?

Tell me, what rights have I lost? NONE! The US is the same now as it was in 1990. ALL AMERICANS still have there same rights. To say otherwise is a lie.

Your kidding me right?

No i am not as i don't believe Russian democracy to be by any means perfect.

Yeah, the United Russia party (Putins party) did get elected....but so would you if your party had direct control over the entire media in Russia.

They did? You mean Russians actually as norm believe what they hear on the state run channels? And here i used to think Russians weren't as norm at least as well educated as people elsewhere!

Best way to describe the Russian system is a democratic one party state. (United Russia get about 70% of the vote)

Like the ANC in South-Africa, right? What sort of state do you have ( the US example) when less than half of the people vote and the half that does vote are split almost down the middle as to what they want? Are Americans confused and which parts are? Can't Americans make up their minds like Russians and South-Africans apparently have? What are the American leaders promising that manages to alienate half the population and splits the remaining votes down the middle?

The official opposition in Russia is the Communist Party, who achieved a 20% average of the vote. The Commies, as official opposition, have 57 in parliament (Duma) compared to United Russia's 315.

So doesn't that then mean that the Russians have made the best choice they could in their current socio-political climate?

I'd rather have the United States system.

I think what your trying to say, and something i will agree with, is that many ( lets say Russians) would rather have what Americans have achieved despite their unrepresentative electoral system and nominal corporate rule; both system suck but despite that Americans have done pretty well.

I must of missed the meeting in which we declared Putin as a hero for democracy

Me too and what a notion!

I do not see America using its oil and gas as a weapon on her neighbouring countries in order to gain influence and hijack domestic policy.

As another poster have pointed out that the American nationality security state does use such measures and when that fails it employs sanctions, stages terror attacks using local groups, bombs them or invades them; that is unless you believe that the US invades or bombs as first resort....

Those totalitarian idiots in Moscow are though.

But at least Putin was in fact ELECTED unlike the sitting American president! It's just sad that so many Americans talk about totalitarianism elsewhere when no country has violated international law as often or as openly in nearly 70 years.

Do you even know what imperialism is? Because last time I checked; the US was not building an empire and creating colonies across the world (Bush is not President of Iraq, so don't play the Iraq card).

Do you even know what classical imperialism evolved into and that the US were practicing it before Spain, Britain, France and others caught on and did the same? Why do you have to physically occupy a country if you can create conditions , by generous usage of assassins and terrorist/torturers, by which your ruling corporate classes benefits?

In fact, the European Union is the closet thing to an imperial force in the world.

And if this is evidence of how you reason i'm not surprised by some of your other conclusions.

Btw, I take it supporting undemocratic regimes, who attack the West,

So which undemocratic regimes have attacked the west in recent ( since the second world war) history? I really can't think of any at the moment....

is now the new thing for conspiracy theorists now?
In the mean time I shall look forward to your next post in which you claim the Sudanese government is a force of good

A real model state that Sudan.... Pffft.

Yet this is simply not true.
I have witnessed numerous anti-war protests and see people daily walking around with signs and shirts that protest Bush and the war. My daughter walks around with a shirt that says Jan. 09 the end of the worst administration known to the US.

Haven't had any calls from the police about it. Haven't seen any people arrested downtown during these protests. So I find your statement baseless and false.

And yet Gore stopped his contention of that election after the Supreme Court ruled on it. And popular vote has never been the rule for electing the POTUS. IT has been the electoral college. A basic understanding of our election process would clear that up for you.

Now Obama will win the Democratic nom, even though he may not get the overall popular vote. I guess that makes them Fascist too right?

Typical post from you. Allot of words and no valid links to support your assertions.

Putin freely elected? HA!!! Look up Yuklos and tell us all what happened to the company and their founder when he ran against Putin and was likely to win. All of a sudden he was guilty of trumped up crimes and had his company taken from him and put in jail. Some freedom....

I am guessing steller that you are a teenager who hasn't actually learned anything but has been influenced by hate radio. Bush was freely elected? So are you saying that Kerry won in 04?

More typical anti-American crap spewed without a shred of actual evidence. Do some research before you post. You won't seem as ignorant or immature next time.

it annoys me that a lot of you can't accept the fact that some of you can't accept this perspective but you can accept that 911 was not organised by a terrorist organisation but by your own government. Hypocrite at heart.

All you Americans can't accept the fact that the rest of the world sees you in this front. Were not blind in the way your controlling this world. If you can't accept that then why do you even read any of these articles on this site. Bloody hypocrites.

We have lost control of our country, much like the Russian Federation. While they lost their country to gangsters, drug dealers and prostitutes, we have lost ours to the rich. The biggest flaw is our electorial process.

Sure we have some resemblance of control over who is elected Governor, Mayor, House of representatives, Senate and Congress. Problem is, the decisions of the Reps, Senate and Congress are repeatedly overturned by the dillweed at the top.

To make it worse, the presidental process has been turned over to "delegates" and "superdelegates" who constantly take handouts and bribes to give their approval. After the primaries there is really only a choice between 2 people regardless of what the ballot says. Too many sheepish yuppy morons only do what FOX tells them.

Putin and his Soviet leadership (yes he is a Soviet relic who wants those days back) are right. The world is in danger because of this country. We have been poking a bee's nest in the middle east and soon a nuclear reaction will start that will kill billions.

Good luck and god bless to everyone with a heart. Support your family and GOOD friends and prepare yourselves.

Hey tomcat, you quoted my text and wrote your anti-american stuff ... You should know that I'm not american, (french) and I have a very good perspective of what a #ty government is ( look at our president and his bling-bling style...) . So reading your explanation of why the US are ignorant and stupid is as credible as you having an A+ in orthograph...

However, we are free to share and tell our opinions. This is what it's all about, because under Putin's regime, a few guys from his NACHI youth group (check'em on google, you'll see) will knock on your door, smack you around and terrorize your family so you won't post any stuff like this. Under the freedom of speech, you and I can have an ATS word-fight until 2012...So who's the monster now huh ? I'd better live under Mc Donald's rule instead , it's always better than ending up breaking stones in Siberia.

It is still a form of protest and no one is disturbing her for it. But according to the zealots here, even that would get you arrested. Which is obviously a lie.

The truth is you can still protest Govt. here and not face any consequences so long as you are peaceful about it.

Despite the propaganda otherwise from the anti-americans around here.
