Yes and yes.

But, this isn't about me nor is it about you. This is about ATS and what they deem fit to allow and not allow.

They see it as fine and as always, if they see someone crossing the line, they take care of it.

Too many assumptions on your part ...

Assumptions are presumptuous. General observations, not.

If I didn't care about ATS I'd be out of here in a heartbeat. I do enjoy the topics on this site. Sometimes it's hard to separate signal from noise, but some threads and posters offer outstanding contributions.

Agreed, with regards the signal to noise ratio, as that would seem somewhat of a given on a venue such as this. Though, what I've observed thus far would seem to contradict your claim of enjoying the topics discussed and the outstanding contributions made... hence the previous reference to an Aged axe seeking a good grind.

I don't complain about ATS too much, but maybe your server data tells you otherwise ;-)

Sorry. You lost me there.

It seems to me that you're opposed to a critical opinion on how ATS handles certain things.

Not at all. I happened across this place a few years ago and have since found it to be one of the more open and honestly diverse venues on the web, especially given the subject matters discussed here. That's all.

I think that allowing a dissenting opinion is the strongest sign of a functioning, vital ATS site. Rather than everybody lockstep marching, we should voice our concerns and make this a better site. It looks like you disagree with my method here.

Again... Not at all. Though I would have to admit to the occasional notice of those who make it quite obvious that they've since returned to address prior, shall we say, issues. Quite pointed in their approach, actually. Obvious, even.

I stand by my opinion that ATS is too relaxed about links to demonic spells. I do understand they're not illegal, but they can do more serious harm than narcotics. I do debate anybody who claims otherwise.

"too relaxed about demonic spells". I'm sorry but I personally find that quite laughable, but then again I don't place much stock in said claims... as they seem quite Harry Potter-ish and/or Twilight-like for me. Of course, to each their own and everyone's entitled to their interests or opinion. A good thing, mind you, and part of what endears my interests here.

While curses, demonic chants and spells, even, aren't my personal ball of wax, I still find it quite difficult to see their potential "harm" in the same light as those advocating personal use/abuse of illicit drugs and narcotics.

For example:
If I were to find my son in his room chanting "hummana, hummana, hummana" with the hope of landing a date with that cute girl at school, or to renounce his buddy's efforts to do the same... so be it. No big deal. But, at the same time, if I were to find my son in his room looking to cop a buzz from some concoction he found the ingredients or source for on some website, Then we'd have a Problem.

For me... as a parent... there's a Huge difference.

Then again, perhaps we'll simply have to agree to disagree.

No matter. I've since caught up with the changes in policy which have taken place lately and can only say that I agree completely.

You speak in riddles. Please state clearly what you mean.

If my son smoked dope or chanted a spell I'd be equally worried. But I'm not going to argue about parenting skills with you.

All the best,

N

Can someone, anyone, please explain why my titles were stripped today?

Why I am no longer a writer-fighter?

Is it my contentious thread on Abortion?

Does ONE thread negate the other 200 plus threads?

Could someone, anyone, get back to me on this issue please?

It's hard to really get behind this site catering to parents. I'm a parent myself, but I always felt this place to be one where adults who are interested in discussing conspiracies can do so with other adults. I'm sure there are a few mature minded kids that are interested in these topics, but in general there are many conspiracy topics that are not suitable for children, IMO. Should we start banning discussions on any topic that may be considered inappropriate for younger eyes?? Is that really where ATS should be going?

The only thing I would venture to guess has happened is that is if one isn't active in the two forums you mentioned they lose their designation.

I highly doubt, in fact I am sure, that it wouldn't be done as a "punishment" for having an opinion or stance, no matter the nature of said opinion and stance.

I am sure if you want to participate in the writing forums the staff will give you your writer status back, and you are surely more than welcome to contact Semperfortis, MemoryShock, or The Vagabond should you wish to debate again.

I just posrted a book a week ago, see my sig...

As for the debate?

I asked for one a little while ago, like a week, and no one accepted.

It just seems odd, as I just got the writers status a couple weeks ago.

Actually to tell you the truth I am not that active a writer myself, I'm sure if you fire off a U2U to (I believe) worldwatcher or masqua and tell them of your predicament, they'll be happy to re-instate your writer status.

As far as the debate forum, we are actually in the midst of a tournament so most fighters and mods have been a little busy. Again, send a U2U to the mods I mentioned in my previous post and I know they'll be happy to help.

Interesting. Masque was the latest mod to correct me.

Oh well. If ATS doesn't want me here, all it takes is a simple e-mail.

Should I repeat that last line?

Edit to remove part where I insert my foot...

Well, I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "correct" but I would suggest a private conversation via U2U might be the best way to resolve that.

Hmmmmmmm...

I smell fish, and it's not on the dinner menu.

I'm not going to be a staff apologist but I have yet to see vindictive action such as the one you are implying from any staff member. Not to mention that there would be better ways to achieve that.
May I humbly suggest you investigate further with staff before reaching such a conclusion.

OK.

Should I repeat that last line?

Why not?

j/k of course, just don't want you to get a full head of steam when there's probably a very simple explanation.

I will change my mood from Pompeii to Yellowstone, in the interim.

I am not trying to attack anyone. I have felt so stressed from this STUPID abortion thread.
It has cost me a dozen friends, and I regret ever starting it.

I have contacted a mod, and will drop it nonetheless, as I trust the Mods on this site.

Could you pass on that I will NEVER post another thread on Abortion?

One was enough for me.

Yellowstone sounds good.

It's unfortunate losing friends over opinions but you had to know abortion discussion evokes passionate if not aggressive responses.

I disagreed with you on the first page of your thread but I'm still happy to try and help out. I guess I'm just strange like that.

See you in the debate forum soon.

So, I am not allowed to post in the fighters pub either?

Okay... taking a deep breath, and turning off the computer.

If anyone wants me, I will come back in a day, and check in.

Jason, relax. The Mods here aren't subtle like that, at least not in my experience. You mess up, they're in your face (with civility & decorum of course), and if you aren't hearing from them you're cool.

Writer status has nothing to do with being a writer, it has to do specifically with participating in the Short Stories forum and contests, or the Collaborative Writing forum.

As far as the abortion thread goes, anyone who decides to stop being your friend because they're on the opposite side of a debate from you .. well, I wouldn't see it as a loss. I argued/debated with you in that thread also, but, no hard feelings. I haven't yet found one single person in the whole world - not even my much-loved husband - with whom I agree about everything. I liked your book, so you can't be all bad.

And, as SchroDog pointed out, the debate forum is in the middle of a tournament right now. I can't take up your challenge because I'm waiting for Round 3 to start and I have to debate The Vagabond.
By the way, you still have friends - do you realize how unusual it is for SchroDog to be helpful and serious??

And FWIW, looking at your miniprofile in this thread, you appear to have the titles Fighter and Writer. Perhaps it's been fixed already?

See you in the FCP!

Has anyone brought up the issue in the DATS thread. IF you hit the reply to button on someones post it sends you to a white page that says error.

I would like to hear from one of the owners of ATS why they allow links to demonic spells on ATS.

Sincerely,
