G'day

I seek clarification from the mods.....

A high profile "ufologist" was banned from ATS quite some time ago.

That "ufologist" continues to make videos about UFO's, etc... & sell them in in very significant numbers.

During our ongoing discussions about the content of these videos, some members have repeatedly stated that we cannot discuss that "ufologist" because we are not allowed to discuss banned members.

To my mind, we are quite within the ATS T&C's if we continue our discussion about that "ufologist's" material, as long we don't dwell on the topic of the banning in itself.

Am I interpreting the ATS T&C's correctly?

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

You can not talk about the status as a member.

For example, I can't go making posts saying:

Why was Maybe....maybe not banned? Or ATS was not right in banning Maybe....maybe not.

Or any similar type posts.

OLA

Dreams and predictions were in BTS before, How come this board is now in ATS? Or when did this move happen

Was just going to ask the same question - now it's confusing due to the other Predictions forum that is also on ATS... why two?

Could be some of the mass amounts of work SO is doing to the board. I do not know for sure, but that would be my first assumption.

I see in the 911 thread , That a person is Post Banned for first offence.

What is that?

1 Your post removed , and you recieve a warning.

2 You are not allowed to post in the 911 section for a set time period.

3 you can't post on ATS for a set time period.

Just curious as to what that means.

G'day greeneyedleo

Thank you for that clarification.

It appears to me the discussion was & continues to be about the material being released by that "ufologist" & not about that "ufologist's" banning.

So, that should be OK.

Kind regards & thank you for your prompt service!

Hello Admins/Mods,

Lately any thread have been popping up related to the topic of internet filtering and how governments is slowly curbing the internet. Is it against ATS T&C to discuss how to evade internet filters and other information related to it? Any leaked lists which govt. has banned, be posted on ATS? I thought it's better to ask rather than make a mistake.

Seriously, looking for some clarifying answers. Thanx.

I got a issue.

Can we please tone it in a bit? Can we please stop promoting fear based threads?

ATS members have got to STOP promoting FEAR threads.

This isn't really an ownership problem, but it kinda is. Some of us that would rather promote reality are being overwhelmed by ignorance and delusion.

Unless you can find something in the T&C prohibiting it, it isn't an ownership problem. Member driven content means what it says. It's up to each individual to discern what's relevant and worthy of participation.

You're free to participate in those threads, or ignore them. I don't know how we could realistically go about eliminating something as subjective as "fear threads". The best thing you can do to eliminate T&C compliant topics or thread types you don't like, is not participate in them.

As an aside and speaking only for myself, if you're not at least a little afraid, you aren't paying attention.

What I mean by it kinda is an ownership problem is that the ownership should promote an atmosphere more conductive to denying ignorance, and those of us that want to really deny ignorance need some help.

I realize that it is a membership driven site. I know I can ignore these threads. I understand that completely.

But denying ignorance needs help. We can't do it alone. I myself can only do so much.

The question is, is it too much to ask that this site not turn into /b/?

Hmmm I have a request.
Can we get a link to Face Book.
We can link Twitter, Google, Yahoo but not Face Book.
Any possibility?

Thank you.

I, too, would love to have a FaceBook widget on ATS but, until they stop tracking/collecting and storing user IPs and the previous pages visited before the jump, we can't allow it. It violates our Privacy Policy.

The FB widget collects all of the history the user has in their browser from the site they were referred to FB from, and they add that data to their marketing db to enhance their "targeting data" (make more money).

That means that if we allowed a widget today (hopefully they will stop this) everyone who clicked on it from here would be giving FB's sales team tons of data that is associated with your IP address.

We don't play that way and won't do business with those who do. Our member's privacy is sacrosanct.

When we get the 'New and Improved' ATS, and mutter becomes more mainstream, will the 'kinks' be worked out of it? As it stands now, there are several standard characters that mutter simply does not recognize. The most obvious is the ampersand (&). Any web address with these characters in them simply cannot be linked to via mutter, while they can be in chat.
