I have no proof or nothing.
But my gut tells me there is a catch.

I guess i keep following this topic for a wile and see if any one comes up with something interesting.

Oprah definately doesn't DENY SELF. She calls herself God and she says no one needs 'the cross', etc etc.

She's leading the masses alright. Right off a cliff.

this is exactly why i threw my television in the trash

if oprah isnt the antichrist then she is imho setting people up to accept the antichrist.

I don't think that this is entirely true and it is based up on the assumption that these people possess some special or hidden knowledge. The Dali Lama was born into his role and the Pope elected to his. The assumption is that to acheive these roles they must be spiritually elightened but what proof do we have of that and what does closeness to 'god' necessarily have to do with spiritual enlightenment any way? Just because one may believe in an omniscient being does not make their path to enlightenment any more realisable than the person who believes in multiple gods or no god at all.

You may also find it helpful to read up on the stories of Narcissus, there are a few, but for me the premise is not so much Narcissus' perception of self but the effect of the perception of others on Narcissus. Narcissus was 'desired' that does not necessarily mean he sought to be an object of desire. People wish to follow Oprah, does that automatically mean that she wishes to lead?

where are you people getting this stuff? and i thought my post was out there. The other poster was right. You attack based on opinions and not facts. She is doing something good, and your accusing her of being the antichrist? Attacking and automatically rebuking an idea of a mass spiritual awakening because of the person who brought it up, and cared enough to share.

that is your opinion not mine and the fact is ...she is misleading people away from Jesus. that is wrong imo and what she is doing is what the antichrist would want someone to do.

Then it would seem we were making two entirely different points on the same issue.

Twud' explain why there seems to be such a large misconception of one another's ideals in this thread.

Still, if it doesn't really mean anything at all in the first place - that character assessment should not be based purely on Ego, then what was the point of bringing that up in the first place?

-The masses are seeking enlightenment, enlightenment has always been there but its associated with discipline to read and study.
-The people involved in her movement typlify the mainstream adittude of I want it now,, I want it easy and I want it free. Oprah has just taken advandage of this "market", which is in accordance with our concepts of free enterprise.
Her "New Philosphy" is not "new" nor are the activites associated with it,, the Asian and Hindu cultures have practiced this concepts for thousands of years.

And to make a point of my earlier sarcastic post, bringing to mind the diasterous results of so many fringe,, "New Age" organizations.....
if we adopt the personal and social adittude now being pandered as Oprah;s New age... the world would be a better place and we would not have to Ascend to anywhere,,,,,

Doesn't this say something about main stream religion?
Why aren't the mainstream denominations attracting those that are attracted to Oprah style religion. Is it because they are critical, strident,
arrogant and exclusive with a "we, them" attitude?

Perhaps if the mainstream denominations would truly embody the spirit of Jesus they would be more attractive to the masses that are searching for answers.

One of the things that turns me off to my local churches is the "country club" atmosphere that pervaded the places. There are some Christian outreach programs that I participate in to help streetpeople and junkies, that for me seem more intune with scriptural teaching. I'm basically an agnostic but I can see the value in community service and helping those less fortunate than myself. I expect no reward other than helping an orginization that at one time I might have needed.

Yes, and thats a beautiful thing. Leading astray from centuries of oppression, bigotry and war into the luciferian new age of freedom, respect and empowerment.

One thing I can say that has gained my respect about Oprah is that she is a self made woman.

She has actualized the American Dream. She had a vision which has evolved over time as we have watched her do.

I am not looking for someone else's spiritual experience to guide me so I am not watching the video or reading all about it, but I would like to weigh in as someone who believes she has earned the following she has by "Walking her Talk"

that's exactly what i dont understand about people that worship the devil...if you believe in satan/lucifer than you must believe there is God also.......and to choose to burn in hell for all eternity is a choice that i can not rationalize. but to each his own.

Are you saying you embrace lucifer and movements associated with the satan?

If so, I am not trying to put you down for your beliefs, and as I said before, I am not here to debate religious beliefs as I am secure with mine. I am a Christian and will always be but I am interested in what you actually mean by this.
