At the end of the day the Whalers still catch their quota. These spoiled rich kids have set anti whaling back decades with their childish antics. It's only a matter of time before one or more of these inexperienced morons gets killed in an accident. The only thing they have acomplished is to making the public have sympathy for the whalers.

Bording a ship in this day and age is an act of piracy and I have no problem with the Japanese shooting these thugs if they try to board the ships.

I wish people would stop giving these hippies money when human beings in need of food and shelter could benefit much more. I can't believe the red hot chili peppers donated $100,000 to these idiots.

The captain was wearing a vest that is below standard issue to police officers. The vest is rated at best to slow a low muzzle velocity 9mm pistol round. In order to make that shot at the distance the ships were apart a high caliber rifle round would be required. The vest has absolutely no ability to withstand a tapered high speed rifle round even with the badge. In order to stop even low caliber rifle rounds a ceramic or steel plate is required. With both ships moving as they were it would require a master sniper to put a shot precisely at a man's heart. If you watch any video of a vest being impacted even by a low caliber pistol round the person is knocked back and is bruised considerably. It is not uncommon for several ribs to be broken when a vest takes a bullet.

So either the whalers have a master sniper aboard, military quality, with a magic rifle that shoots pistol rounds that dont leave bruises or the sea shepard captain planted the bullet with the intent to gather sympathy. I am against whaling, but I am also against the sea shepards. By law the Japanese are allowed their whaling quota, I don't have to like it, but until the law is changed they have to be allowed.

Let me clear some things up for some of you regarding this ACID ATTACK!!!!

it's as dangerous as orange juice, it smells horrible, and it makes the whale meat uneatable. kapish? Go read stuff before you write stuff.

second, shooting someone is not a bit extreme, it is THE most extreme. keep that in mind at all times, or go get yourself shot and gain some perspective.

As for finding something better to do with their time than actively stopping the slaughter of defenseless and intelligent creatures, I wish you would give us all some alternatives...I'm dying to know.
