kill all the whales and we won't have any argument anymore. period. sure by them going extinct it won't hurt the cycle of nature much.
also i agree if the radicals want to act radical they should expect a radical response and not complain when they get one.
maybe what they threw wasn't harmful to humans but how did the vicxtims know that?
throw that # at my house maliciciously and you will got shot at.
and the captain is lucky the japs were bad shots- remember a bullet proof vest doesn't protect your head lol

Nice one ...

Now think about this New weapon against Whaling

I happen to know of three of four machine shops willing to make submersible tracking and penetration devices for this. Have a nice day.

What's on the menu today? Whaling Captain and Crew baby!

It might actually be better if the anti-whaling hippies would arm themselves. Then the whalers could just shoot them in self defence without any whining from the public whenever they spot any. Good idea

Doesn't hurt to be vegetarian rite???

Unless it'll make you weak and all that...

NO. Vegetarianism does not make you weak, period. It really depends on how you balance your diet.

I was a vegetarian but now I'm partial vegetarian coz I take eggs and milk.

...and the occasional bug that drops into my food

Google "Health Benefits of Vegetarianism"
amazing stuff.

Haha....they don't have to fire any torpedoes. They could just surface UNDER the whalers and rock their boats.....

Haha...

or simply trail the whalers while emitting warning acoustics to warn away whales.

So fun..hide and seek the cold war style with a russkie submarine!

Food yes, meat no. Virtually all other species of primates do just wonderfully without it. It is a luxury, plain and simple. One that requires the death and often destruction of other species and their habitats, which should absolutely always be a consideration above any imaginary "need". If you want to talk about "brainwashing"...

Good ideas both! But I really like the idea of hunting Japanese Whalers for 'scientific' reasons ... related to Yakuza you say? Fine, bring them on, we'll do some 'scientific' research on them too.

FTW - eating the liver of a newborn Japaese child will increase the power, potency and SIZE of the Chinese Yang!!! Proven fact found in Ancient Chinese Scrolls dating back in Medicinal Writings!!

Need to research that on Netherlands babies too, "scientific" research and all! - Gee, I think it;s from the whale meat being eaten by the babies and that makes their livers capable of making my yang huge like porn star!

Holy crap! Hahhahahaa.....

ah wells....

2steps, that was some evil thinking.

erm making human kind a feed for each other? Maybe in the future? We breed humans for eating.

Yeah, why not? We eat other mammalians after all. I'm sure animals and humans enjoy being eaten.

by that time, the porn industry will be the new evil!!!

EDIT: I'm just kidding incase some can't get around their head that this is some cynical typings. I wonder how many of us actually kill the animals we eat.

Should look into their eyes, they didn't will for it. So much talk about free will and such.

One day history will look back on these so called "seafaring hippies" as real heroes who tried to stop us all from destroying our own world and those creatures we live with in it.

The Japanese are greedy cynics, who are only happy if they can stuff their mouths with dead whale meat.

I didn't realize the Japanese are starving, an have to hunt whale meat to feed their children. Well, from what I understand, they have fished the oceans around their country to the point that the ecosystems have collapsed.

Most people in the world consider Whale to be intelligent sentient beings, and feel that whale hunting is criminal. This whole cultural imperialism argument is some really dark evil stuff. Justifying crime by calling it culture is just plain wrong. Next thing you know, some group will call killing, raping, and pillaging a culture heritage and therefore a right. Oh yeah, that is basically how many third world nations are ran. Oh, but it is all right, it is just business as usual, with IC sponsorship and all.

I think these Japanese whalers are going to find that they have bitten off more than they can chew. I guess it is time to send a little money the good Captains way. This internet thing is slowly developing into a world force. How much money did Obama raise?

Woulnd´t surprise me if they shot at him, he has been a big pain in their & other barbaric whalers butts for many a year. He was one of the founding members of greenpeace

Ive read one of his books "Ocean Warrior", which I can recommend.

Wait, if there's not enough authoritative presence for these clashes to be caught... then there's not enough authoritative presence to prevent piracy of said ships.

Why not give some of the upstart piracy groups we've been having trouble with a little incentive... say, a secret monetary reward for every Japanese whaling ship they hijack. Or, perhaps, an agreement to have the authorities distracted somewhere other than where the whaling ship will be.

I'm quite sure the Japanese public will be intensely aware of the situation once the world starts talking of their missing whaling ships.

...if the whalers co-workers are often becoming hostages, and they have to pay to get them back... I think their business would become unprofitable pretty quickly.

A useful twist to two of the world problems I think.

It may make more sense to just *snip*

Then there is NO way those boats will go back out to do anymore whaling.

**Attention**
Though we may not like the whalers, let's not get carried away into talk of promoting borderline criminal behavior, madness and mayhem.

Civility and Decorum rules the day.

There's plenty to talk about which does not include the above. Further replies in this vein may be warned.

Current replies will be edited.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Well well well.... as I expected, former Green parlimentarian, Peter Garrett
has folded.

What a wimp.

The ex Midnight Oil frontman succumbed to Labour Party pressure, and now will not stop these preditory whalers from taking their "scientific Quota"

You make me ashamed Garrett.

check this................

The Federal Government has not decided whether to monitor Japanese whaling ships in the Southern Ocean this summer. The anti-whaling group, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, will send a boat to Antarctic waters in an effort to stop the whaling. Last year, the Government sent the customs ship Oceanic Viking to conduct surveillance of Japanese activities. But the Environment Minister Peter Garrett will not commit to monitoring whaling again this year. "The Government has been really clear about its opposition to the killing of whales in the name of science in the Southern Ocean," he said. "That opposition remains. Everything that we said that we would do in order to engage on this issue we have done and we'll continue strong diplomatic engagement in the mean time. "We said last year, at this time, that we would do a number things. "They included monitoring and we monitored. "Now we're in the second phase in the second year and we will decide what actions the Australian Government needs to take or should take at the appropriate time and that will happen in due course."

I have just emailed the Hon Peter Garrett, Minister for Environment.
I alerted him to this thread and my opinion on his inaction.
As a Minister, it is our right , and ,IMO our duty to inform him of the same.

Feel free to email him on the following link

Cant Hurt.

Could do a power of good.

Any new information on this?

I've been watching "Whale Wars" and the season finale will be airing next week which supposedly shows the captain being shot. While I don't think whaling is a good thing, the show certainly doesn't portray the crew of the Sea Sheppard as very competant. In all honesty I didn't have any intention of watching the show but after seeing the first episode and what a train wreck it was, I can't help but tune in week after week.
