Again you did not answer the question: Why would you fight in an illegal war?

Thats a very unfair question to ask to a military service member.

My husband said to me that first comes the service and second came family.

During 22 years lived with that fact and survived.

When a soldier goes into services he do the job he is told to do no questions ask.

He do not look for the legality of a war he is sent to fight, but he does have the choice to question an issue that may conflict with his moral believes[.

Iraq is an illegal war but our service members are caught in it and for now all they can do is to follow orders.

I dunno. Probably because I didn't want to play "drop the soap" in a federal prison if I told my CO I didn't want to go!!

I don't think they were just dropping bombs in a city. They were destroying a specific target.

And that's freedom? Being forced to do something you have no will to do so? I'm just glad you didn't die there, and I am glad for your family and friends too. Peace mate.

Political terrorism (which is what you would have to be talking about) is an act of war that seeks to establish certain goals. Mass media attention for the purpose of filtering its ideology to the world, to show a population its Government can not protect them, or to establish a homeland..

Really none of what the US is doing seeks to meet the goals defined by terrorism in this conflict

I guess really if you wanted to argue your point I will help you:

there are four classifications of war, the one we are dealing with in this instance is defined as a Counter-Insurgency-B...If you wanted to argue the point you could say that the Iraqi-People (which is not who all of the insurgents are) are the ones fighting a Counter Insurgency against The Americans and their allies, this would make more sense in the semantical view.

can you imagine 40,000 lbs dropped in your city? How about 35,000? 30,000 pounds? What about 20,000 lbs dropped in your neighborhood? Even 10,000 lbs is a lot. Shameful. No wonder the world hates America so much. We go in on a total lie and attack a country who didn't even shoot at us, and now 6 years later we are still spending $billions and $billions to bomb and pillage and keep the place ripped apart, but meanwhile can't even afford health care for children.

All volunteer military. No one is "forced" to do anything, since they joined and they should know what to expect. And I would have gone along even if it were strictly volunteer. I wasn't a big fan of Saddam and what he was doing to his own people.

I understand that. If you were asked to kill US citizens by the US Administration, would you?

I think the UN did say it was illegal:

www.guardian.co.uk...

Thursday September 16, 2004
The Guardian

"The United Nations secretary general, Kofi Annan, declared explicitly for the first time last night that the US-led war on Iraq was illegal.
Mr Annan said that the invasion was not sanctioned by the UN security council or in accordance with the UN's founding charter. In an interview with the BBC World Service broadcast last night, he was asked outright if the war was illegal. He replied: "Yes, if you wish."

He then added unequivocally: "I have indicated it was not in conformity with the UN charter. From our point of view and from the charter point of view it was illegal."

I disagree, the world is far from evil. However the elitists in control of it certainly don't care about you, me, any free thinker or truth seeker. There are more loving, wonderful people on this planet than "evil" ones I believe.

Wow, I was just thinking the same about you.

No point explaining to you not only the false war your beloved Administration took you too, but the future it will bring to your own civil rights as an individual.

You are entitled to your wrong opinion.

I am happy knowing you and your fellow supporters of war are in the minority (which it should be).

Wrong again. This is getting old with you being wrong all the time.
People are not against war, they are just upset how this particular war was handled.

I see you do have a sense of humor.

Who cares what the corrupt UN thinks?
They are good for nothing.

Well after a period of surveillance of Al Qaeda forces through various means, and finding out where they're basing their operations out of. You send in some aircraft and drop some JDAMs on the target to neutralize it.
You should then see a significant drop in insurgent activity in that zone.
Did that help?

Here is the bottom line..when you are in a war (legal or not) it is a war. You look to find targets that in striking will reduce the enemies will to fight or its ability to conduct war against you. When those targets are found you drop as many pounds of bombs as it takes.

War is ugly.

The only thing I can say to you that do not agree with it is. The soldiers do not make policy dont attack them. They are doing an honorable service in serving there country. People who attack the motives of the usually young individuals who join don't have the same type of feelings of patriotism to America that these kids were raised with. In fact I am not even sure if those types of people should be called Americans, but they are born here so they have the right to believe what they want.
