Oh, well I must've caught a spun version of the story, because it said he was squelched for not being hard line enough, like the President and Khamenei are.

And they wanted to pursue their policy of an eventual conflict or at the least in the near term the removal of Western forces from their part of the world.

In the long term, Israel will inevitably have to face war with them. Will the world allow it to become a Nuclear war?

Iran hasn't complied fully with the IAEA at all, in fact the IAEA have made pretty clear their frustration at Iran's lack of assistance, denied access from different sites and different times, failure to explain documents detailing military links to the program etc...

Seems Iran's tactics have certainly worked thus far... They have managed to delay and buy at least 2/3 years of valuable time...

why couldn't the US put up our missle defense systems around Iran, assuring they could not expect to launch a nuclear bomb and have it reach its intended target?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's a question you need to ask Vladamir Putin.

What if C&B simply can't tell the difference between Iran and Iraq and we went to war with the wrong country?

I think that they with the Iraq war being a total failure they are simply looking for a victory in the middle east. In Iraq the enemy isn't easy to distinguish from civilians, which they still don't have any problems killing. On the other hand if we went to war with Iran the enemy would be easier to target.

Well thats just my 2 cents. Have a good day.

either way i must agree with iran-s going nuclear. i prefer dying in the blast of a nuclear bomb, than be the workforce to construct one. i mean: America must fall. the USA must fall. of course Russia will have a hand in that to.

don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about u guys but about the majority of average people in the US. it is nevertheless the most powerful country but it has the most ignorant population. as long as u keep ignoring what your government dose it is the country of slaves driving the machine of war. see 9/11. an airplane crash investigation has more attention than reduction of 2,819 humans to 19,858 body parts (recently more).

i will not go into the innocents (or not) killed in Iraq that is a whole different story. Romania played it's part to. hopefully Bucharest will will fall with it.

there is no honor in this word. in fact there is nothing to live for, unless we do something. there is a great storm coming, and for now we wait..

to be good is not enough... it will not be. we must be more better than that. we cannot even forgive Bin laden (as a character of the mass media), or the one that stoled our candy when we were young

and i don't think Iran will throw the firs stone. The US already did.

ps: Estimated number of New Yorkers suffering from post-traumatic-stress disorder as a result of 9/11: 422,000

As far as I can tell, the Iranians elect their Government, and are considered to be a Republic. On the other hand, Pakistan has had nukes since 1972 and they have been ruled by a Military Government since 1999.

In the Islamic Republic of Iran (established in 1979), the Assembly of Experts (who appoints and supervises the Supreme Leader), the president and members of the parliament are elected by direct vote of the citizens as per Iranian Constitution. Candidates approved by the Guardian Council are allowed to run for election.

According to Constitution of Islamic Republic of Iran on one hand Islam is the major criteria for laws. "All civil, penal financial, economic, administrative, cultural, military, political, and other laws and regulations must be based on Islamic criteria. This principle applies absolutely and generally to all articles of the Constitution as well as to all other laws and regulations, and the fuqaha' of the Guardian Council are judges in this matter." On the other hand "In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the affairs of the country must be administered on the basis of public opinion expressed by the means of elections, including the election of the President, the members of the parliament, and the members of councils, or by means of referendums in matters specified in other articles of this Constitution.

In contribution to this thread I am inserting here a link from a website about how many in the US Military Think Bush and Cheney "Are Out of Control".
It is a Spiegle interview with a military historian Gabriel Kolko.
Interesting, I invite you to read it.

why the # are people still buying into these lies, i mean its bad enough we were tricked with the whole Al queda/9/11/terrorists/WMds thing. And its funny that Chaney dropped the R bomb (regime) on the press conference to make it sound as if Iranians are terrorists, but its also interesting that he doesn't use the word terrorists.

he says terror-supporting state, wtf man USA is the biggest terror supporting state, people don't remember that we gave both iran and iraq weapons...the cia is basically the worlds little terrorists. i mean we trained al queda for gods sake.

The President of Iran must be laughing his ass off and saying " hahah everything is going well, soon WW3 will happen and Mahdi along will Jesus will come back to take us into paradise"

I mean you have to ask yourself how one president can mess up this badly, and not to mention that he was elected twice...if people cant see that this was all planned than honestly....i don't no what to say

these people are toying with innocent lives, it

And have you noticed that y are starting to implement new fear tactics...

using the words

- World War 3
- Nuclear weapons ( not WMDs, but nuclear weapons)
- regime
- terror supporting

Yeah.. damn Russkies. All we want to do is build a missile defense shield around Iran to protect our allies in the neighboring states. Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Kuwait, UAE..

Bush and Cheney do not speak for me. I didn't vote for them, I don't like or trust them.

Russians will probably let a war with Iran "happen" when the US is totally strung out financially, by completing the Bushehr NPP.

Completely False! It is a disguise. The presidential contenders are selected by a panel of unellected mullahs. This approval system denies any women participating also anyone against the religious theocratic system. it is a folly and some people fool for it!

As opposed to the Democratic and Republican parties selecting the candidates?

Watch what happens to Ron Paul if you think the same situation doesn't apply here..

Google the Bush family tree and see who he is related to. I agree that Iran as a theocracy is not perfect, but Iran is not a third world hate nation like the media would like us to believe.

Everything has spin. Look at the buzz words before the invasion of Iraq. WMD, rouge nations, etc...

Look at the buzz words now. WWIII, nuclear weapons.

Haha it's not even comparable. Perhaps when your media is state owned and ran, your internet tightly restricted, domestic political prisoners imprisoned or even killed, then you could begin a comparison. It's the hypocrisy of Democracy, sometimes you don't know what you have til it's gone.

I don't think Iran are that stupid to go for Nuclear Weapon technology. They might have the blueprints how to. But still I don't think they have any intention to go to war.
Iran's politicians knows that USA are seeking reason to attack so right now they have no evidence that Iran are making nuclear weapons. Iran has been followed the IAIEA regulations so far.

despise that Iran's politicians humor themselves by ridicule US government.

but yes, all has a reason to worry about Iran due their dislike for Zionist regime
in Israel and their beloved support from Us. Well Iran and most Arabian countries doesn't not like Israel, which is perfectly understandable for me.

So far Iran has yet attacking any country nearby, so why this wicked propaganda from USA? from what I've seen in Media.. It seems USA and Israel are the only who want to attack Iran. Most countries in our exhausted planet still lay mostly neutral.

I'm from Norway so i don't get this Us propaganda.

It would be nice to see people to see things on several viewpoints. but unfortunately some don't

Also its absolutely ridiculous that the US think it has the right to say who gets to have nuclear weapons. Any country who actually have nukes are safe from American aggression. I understand why many countries want to get them...its part of the power balance. If you dont have nukes, you dont get respected by the US.

And the only country who have actually used nukes is the US...

[edit on 22-10-2007 by Copernicus]

I agree... The reason for the US leaders acting like this can be found in an old and wise saying. "What goes around.. comes around". It is clearly guilt and fear that the US will get what it deserves. Not that i want to see that happen but karma will catch up in the end.

Thats right Americans.. do you want a nuke set off in the US because of all the wars you are supporting? Even if you are doing nothing.. You are being obedient to the insane war criminals that have you're country under the thumb!

Iran has never attacked another country?!! They seized the US Embassy (US territory by international law)!! They fund and basically control Hezbollah who if i'm not mistaken kidnapped soldiers of a foreign army and fired hundreds of rockets into Israel. They are also responsible for the death of innocent Iraqis and servicemen of foreign forces. This tag that they haven't attacked another country is yet another deceptive falsity!
