I agree officer's should know it. But I also know that you dont learn the stuff over night and when your working 12 hour shifts you have very little time to go to the dojo to practice.

The time's there if you want to make it easier to perform your job. The Staff work out room at our jail is ALWAYS occupied. Mind you we have over 500 staff. And you can tell the difference between those that use it and the ones that don't.

Unbelievable video, absolutly disgraceful conduct to this young lady. Our American police no longer are the "Peace Officers" ,instead they are trained that the public is the enemy. The new title is "Law enforcement". The police need to realize they are public servants, there actions are being broadcast to the web . The power of the web has been a effective tool for demonstrating how our officers are abusing the position. This is danerous game to play.

Precisely the point that I have tried to make in EVERY post regarding the abuse of police power. We are not the enemy, and they are more like brigands than cops for not holding themselves to a higher standard than the those they are PAID to protect. Cops are PAID to put themselves in danger, and are PAID to resolved a situations without abuse or inappropriate use of force. You have no right to break the law and assault someone for no cause, and simply because they didn't obey a "command" is no excuse either.

Cops treat NO ONE with respect, and most cops think its the right thing to do. They are going to do this to the wrong person one day, and have a "block war" on their hands if they dont stop this madness.

And lastly, convicts have the right to be the way they are, especially given the fact that their personal rights are violated on a daily while you're in the workout room, respectfully.

nope. i disagree. we are not teaching them to be world champ fighters...
they should learn basic holds/throws/locks at the academy and work out some sort of program where they get so many hours practice in...
i think it could be very effective......

whats to lose?

So just how many times have you been apprehended by the law? If you find yourself continually being questioned/picked up with a scuffle involved maybe you should look at the life you decided to live and change a few things for the better to stop this cycle from happening. I been questioned and even handcuffed once and every time I have been calm and followed their directions and nothing came about it. I was once when I was young stopped and taken in to be tested for my blood alcohol level (I was drinking) but I was still under the legal limit and was released while once again not aggressively handed in anyway.

As you can see at 70 percent the chances of the mother living alone and on welfare is more then possible in fact I woud say it is highly likely.

Let me put this kindly as possible.
There are a few reasons that Port St Lucie, Stewart, and Fort Pierce have issues with gangs, drugs, prostitution, and STD’s. One of these reasons is that it’s a semi-isolated location with a lot of channels which allow drug smuggling. The second reason is because Fort Pierce is one of the only places that provided Social Services from Miami to Jacksonville.

i wont argue with numbers, however i will remind you that in america you are allegedly innocent untill proven guilty, which you have bypassed with your judgement.

My originally pointing out her probable demographics was not to justify her treatment, but to explain her behavior, which in turn justifies her treatment.

I am quite sure some police act out of line, and even racial in some instances. It is human nature.

This particular story is a PROPOGANDA piece by prison planet. And heck i think they run some good story's as well.

The officer was acting very politely and the girl was not co-operating. You wanna nit pick over better ways to force some-one's hands behind their backs. let me help you out. if the person is not panicking, they will do it themselves, otherwise as the officer said you will get hurt.

This story also trys to use people's nature and emotions to seperate based on Color , this is what makes it despicable to me, taking adavantage of the human being's emotional reactions to incident's like this and trying to blow something out of proportion. The Despicable thing is PRISON PLANET allowing this crap to run w/ their agenda.

and if anyone feels the same and is a member i would write them and say so , heck i'm gonna shoot them an email at my disgust IMO at what they irresposibly are doing with this story. makes me think they want to maximize civil unrest and bring a police state.

Since when has Prison Planet ever portrayed law enforcement officers in a semi positive light?

As far back as I can recall they have always been equating all cops with the SS and referring to them as "fascist stormtroopers" about to come door to door and drag us all off to concentration camps. Its to be expected from clowns like Alex Jones.

Personally I'm glad the cop sprayed this girl. She should have just listened to him instead of being a little brat and refusing to comply. If you're breaking curfew and you get caught by a cop, it's most likely not a big deal. But when you refuse to let an officer arrest you and then bite him, that's a different story.

Oh please. A 100lb 15 yo girl? Hell one of my legs almost weigh that. Big white cop, small black girl. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out this is a video to divide the masses. Even those that support the cops.

While other videos I have seen like this, lead me to respond as intrepid has to this one; I do see a justification for a use of SOME force. The Judge is still out (for me) on whether or not the Mace was excessive (after all it IS a form of NON LETHAL weaponry).

That said; no officer should be allowed to partake in 'bar-room brawls' or punch anybody in the face for any reason; had he hit her nose he could have killed her. As an Officer of the PEACE he has hundreds of options other than punching her in the face. So yes there is an issue with this video.

question for intrepid...

So are you saying this video was faked?
'It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out this is a video to divide the masses.'

secondly, are you saying the officer is a racist because he was white and the person being detained was black? or by the way he's treating her?

Actually, that's 2 questions.
Just kidding.

I say no to both, it's the manner in which it's presented that leads me to think this. Just look at this thread. see some of the strong posts from both sides of the issue?

Good on him. That cop did everything perfectly.

1) For what he was doing he was very gentle, she might have weighed nothing, but still, forcing her arms back could have broken them. Anyone who's ever tried to tickle their 14 yo niece can attest, it isn't as easy as most would think.

2)He made sure he was in front of the camera. That to me is a bonus, nothing to hide and making sure if something happens it's documented.

3)Gave her more than enough warnings.

4)Showed great restraint when she bit him, quick pop to get her off, and some quick pepper to keep her from doing it again. Personally I would have liked to see her get tazered for it, but I'm not very nice when it comes to someone acting that stupid.

He did everything right and this is just a propaganda piece so the NAACP or some other org can get public outrage for a lawsuit.

It brightens my day knowing there's still some cops out there who still do the job they need to do, we need more cops like him.

As unfortunate as that scene was to watch, the girl should've listened. Plain and simple. Cops aren't taught how to react nicely when a perp isn't cooperating. She bit him, and he punched her. I am all for flaming a bad cop, but this guy was just at the wrong place, doing his job, at the wrong time.

The girl was crazily uncooperative. What would you have done? It didn't get ugly until she bit him.

AAC

aigh, typically on ATS I tend to side with the victims, however after watching that video I believe the officer had every right to pepper spray her and use as much force as needed to arrest her......

People do realize that it is NOT your right to resist arrest? .. Resist the allegations in court, sure, but you cannot resist arrest when you are in the wrong.

Officer did nothing wrong, imo, he was actually very calm .. girl shoulda listened..

Actualy he hit a minor in the head with his fist. That illegal in any PD. Yes she was resisting and she was hysterical. But if a officer can't subdue a 15 year old girl with out almost breaking her arm and hitting her in the face then pepper spraying her. Then maybe he should find a different line of work. It realy is a joke. all the videos that have been comming out lately of police brutality are just the precurser to whats going to happen when marshall law is implimented. get ready for the american gestapo.......

You don't cuff a 15 year-old for violating curfew. Right there, the officer was using excesive force.

Bottom line: You cuff a 15 year-old for violating curfew. Yes, she tried ot bite him, after he almost broke her arm. The fact that people are accepting behavior like this as acceptable from police officers makes me wonder if we've gone off the deep end as a society.

i had a boss that as you say only understood violence being done to him as an answer to himself that his bullying was un appreciated.this "boss" used to like starting fights after a few drinks and was strong enough to usually win-----he developed a habit of following other drunks into tavern washrooms and there beating them sensless for "fun"?well 1 day he followed this little guy into the washroom that turned out to be the towns armwrestling champion-----when my former boss woke up he found that his head was in 1 corner of the room and his jaw in the opposite corner----never has recovered from this. he quit drinking and now takes regular doses of vallium----he's still nuts and throws around the smaller guys at work that are afraid to complain to the military management about him---i did but they ignored me.he threatened to grab me 1 day so i pulled out a knife and told him it would hurt-he backed off-----i was just acting-but he didnt think i was---they dont have the guts to fire the moron that was hired by a civillian manager that uses this former boss of mine to steal for him and the military police that i have complained to just think? i'm kidding so they are apparently doing nothing about them either.glad i could retire and get out of that nut house.
