i haven't read every post in this thread, but have we overlooked the possibility that OBL could be a puppet for the USA? that maybe he didn't write this speech at all and that it is designed to scare Americans into taking pride in what Bush is doing simply because, well, we don't want to convert to the terrible, terrible Islamic religion...

obl: "sure. are you still going to keep me safe? and rich?"
bush: "of course! read this and act like you mean it."

is it too much of a stretch to think that these two are driven by the same God (that which is money and power), while putting up a facade of Christianity vs. Islamic beliefs? we all know bush is no bible thumper. who's to say that OBL's soul hasn't been replaced with ventriloquism parts?

If you wanted to scare a civilian population, a failed terrorist attack would do more than a video.

Very well put. Thank you for this. Bin Laden and AQ's goals have nothing to do with the Muslim religion. They use it as a shield behind which they can murdr innocents and claim to be doing so for the good of all Muslims. The fact that they willingly kill Muslims in their attacks should be proof enough of the hypocrisy.

I just got through reading the whole transcript and all I can say is:

1. While he did a good job of not mentioning the guilt on the other side of the fence in the current situation,
2. For all his other points and opinions I would have to say...

I can't argue with that.

OBL is a smart, slick individual but .. even he knows that it would be the most gravest of errors to shave one's beard. That is a massive insult in Islam and the Arabic world. He would look hilarious, and his own followers would have a harder time respecting him in the same manner. Seriously, shaving the beard is a MAJOR taboo ..

Dude, you are right on the money! This is going to keep building up steam until it becomes World War III in everyone's opinion and at that point, the entire Muslim world will be aligned for war against us.

We should denounce him as a Terrorist, and try our hardest to filter the Islamic radical crap out of it. That way they'll look even more like pointless murderers bent on killing, instead of having a "cause" ... however twisted that cause may be.

The term "Islamist" as I pointed out on at least two occasions last evening, is also used interchangeably with the term, "Islamic Terrorists." This is done often .. For example, if you check out the following website, it features a list of "Islamic Websites," which as you can see are ALL terror related sites.

So you can take me to task for using an incorrect term if you like. I disagree but anyone who takes the time to read what I have written can easily see that I was referring to Islamic Terrorists like Bin Laden and his AQ organization. What they do and their reasons for doing it having nothing to do with the Muslim religion.

I read somewhere osama almost lost his security and secure place to hide as he was supposed to warn BEFORE any jihad action.
By that not the then usual tape of mumbo jumbo released prior to some sort of terrorist action. It was sort-of: oh-oh, another tape from OB where's he going to strike now. But the tape didn't contain a clear warning.

He is supposed to warn the 'offender' and give them a chance to redeem themselves (Country/City/Town or Person) before sending out his death squads to commit mass murder.

Maybe OBL's black beard is the signal to strike. The media are trying to figure out why he changed the color of his beard. It could be just that simple.

Not to go off topic, but lets say the terrorist set a nuke off in NYC next week, maybe the potential Hurricane Gabriele developing off the east coast will be timed to either wash out the fires in NYC or the winds will spread the radiation fallout or both.

I've scanned the thread and haven't caught the mention of this, but it is entirely possible the beard is fake as he has shaved it off in an effort to blend into an area where it is not common for Muslim men to grow large beards such as Indonesia. This would mean he is in fact not hiding along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border as has long been suspected.

There was totally a hidden message though. Didn't anyone catch it?

As odd as that notion may be, I suppose it is possible. but who would it be?

I'm wondering, there seems to be a lot of speculation that the beard is fake, if so this could show the length OBL and crew have gone to to protect his identity. I wonder if anyone knows what this man looks like without a beard? Still he is 6'5" tall, could he be hiding in plain sight somewhere?

Maybe this just means that Cambridge, Massachusetts will be safe from a terrorist attack. Not necessarily Boston, though. Just my 2¢ Saturday morning popcorn conspiracy theory.

This is the way they want it.

They cause contention among us and we become a nation torn apart and weak and defensive. A people afraid of their own government and afraid to talk to their own neighbors.

We become paranoid and feel alone and scared.

We start targeting each other as we have done in this thread and our real fear shows, causing us to react in the defensive.

Eventually they will create a event that wil lead to a controlled military state, and the terrorist "supporters" will be hunted. Yes, they will be our very own military, our brothers and sisters.

Fear has led to so much pain and anger and mistrust.

UBL and his video represent nothing but a weak cover for any and all events to occur in the near future.

Sadly, we can do nothing to stop the deaths in the future, but we can do everything to stop ourselves from becoming one of the ignorant and fearful.
