This whole build up smells just like the build up to Iraq. Whats next? A Tonkin Gulf Incident?
You know I really like reading Haaretz newspaper because they are one of the more progressive newspapers in the middle east. one of the better
features of the newspaper is the talkbacks, and like your example, when people ,especially people who are against the occupation and especially if
they are from Countries like the USA, Australia, or The UK make comments in regards to this, a supporter for Israel will usually reply with either an
event thats taken place in a commentors home countries past history (Aborigines,The Falklands, Black Slavery, American Indians) to justify whats being
done in the here and now, OR justification will be used by using a KNOWN non-democratic country such as China, Russia, South Africa or Pakistan. Does
it make sense that you would compare yourself to a communist or a backwards Islamic country when referring to yourself as a democratic people or would
you try to find something more appropriate? I wouldn't want to compare myself to Lizzy Borden, Jack The Ripper or the Boston Strangler if I wanted to
defend myself in a murder case.
I think Pre-emption is a big crock of crack. Anyone can say "Oh they were about to attack me" "but I attacked first."
I think we've been seeing the Gulf of Tonkin but using a different method with the release of that Amir Tahiri article about the Colored badges for
Jews and Christians in Iran being the unveiling and starting gun.
