Putin says:" I'll Point My Missiles at Europe"

www.foxnews.com

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that U.S. plans to build a missile defense system in Eastern Europe would force Moscow to target its weapons against Europe.

The threat, in an interview published Sunday in Italy's Corriere della Sera and other foreign media, marked one of Putin's most strident statements to date against the U.S. plans and came just days before he is to join President Bush and other leaders at a Group of Eight summit in Germany.

Is this just more smoke from Putin over the missile defense shield or is this an actual threat? I'm not sure given the G-8 summit just around the corner. but his statements are making a lot of people nervous.

lol mizzu
if hes homing in on his own soil the guys very crazy to me if hes gonna aim them nukes at someone its gonna be the americans (no disrespect to yaz all)e.g The cold war and the space missions this guy in my eyes is very unpredictable, but hey arent most of the world leaders of our time, somethings seemed to of gone wrong of this day and age im 24 but it seems to me people of our time are a lot more edgy and aware and very unpredictable the three can be a bad combination eg the fight and flight combo, but if we all do get bombed who gives a #e i dont ,"I do not know how WW3 will be fought, but WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones" true as # thats if theres any 1 left to do so, but myself i know this war will never happen cuz theres too many wise people too let this happen. there is a war that goes on every 4 years eg the world cup (footy,Soccer) and the olympics and so on and on if countrys wanted to show there true powers, why would they do it with a sport, surely they would bomb the # out of each other to show or prove whos the best at everything, bit harsh maybe but countrys always show their powers in a way that no one else can thats the point in competition and thats the whole point of life , its 1 big compo pleasing urself and others i maybe full of # i dont know. this is what i think, but my main point is if we was was to all bomb each other IT WOULD OF HAPENED ALREADY!! yup USA dropped hiroshima and thats why there the superpower today.they set the benchmark and thats why 9/11 and all the other stuff happened all from that bomb (THEY SET THE RULES) and im an englishman and im proud the USA are on my side or Our side but if it was Russia that dropped that bomb and they was the superpower i think they are pretty much a superpower i think they would of had some sort of 9/11 in there country i dont know im no prophet, but ive blown all things out of proportian here i think if theres gonna be a nuclear war it would of happened already, theres always someone higher in the ranks and the people that are the highest are people we will never know about, they could be ya dad ya mam ya granny ya #in grandad or even ya milkman buttheres a chain of events that has to make that bomb launch and theres gonnabe pretty intelligent people holding that key(footy) a chain and i dont think there could be a big chain of fools that would let that happen(#in hell aint wrote so much since school)this is my opinion sorry 4 punctuation..

Bah, nothing but political grandstanding and meaningless words for uniformed people... Physically ICBM's point ninety degrees vertically, however what he is referring to is the pre-stored list of targets and coordinates in the missile's targeting computer. Currently Russia and many western nations deem it politically favorable to claim that their active missiles have no pre stored targets like they used to have during the cold war. Basically, if the * hits the fan and an order is given all missiles are launched automatically at pre determined sites (in the case of the Soviets these were usually NATO cities and sites). However even since the cold war both sides publicly claim this is not the case anymore, all I have to say about that is BS...

Not like this matters anyway, even if we believe the public story in a nuclear war the missiles would be launched at whatever targets are deemed critical on short notice. It does not take much to load the target coordinates into the on board computer.

This is more a political message that says 'we don't like this' rather than anything else...

Awful strong language for just a political message dont you think??? I'm 43 years old and I cant remember a time in recent history when the language coming out of Russia was as threating as it is right now. there is more going on behind the scene, than we are being told I'm afraid.

i think westpoint was correct in this assumption. remarks like this are just to get the point across and scare the masses into more political action. by saying these things putin is trying to rally america's masses into action against the gov't to stop building the defense system. everyone in a politically significant position knows that nuclear war is not a particularly smart strategy. there are no winners, everyone sinks with the ship.

Nope not big nuts. He has been playing both sides and with the assasination of Victor Litvenko in London and discreet arms sales to Iran, the whole question of Russia's conduct has come under the spotlight.

What do people do when they're caught being naughty. Shift the blame. Create a distraction.

Trouble is this silly little man is playing with fire to satisfy his own ego.

If Putin does point those missiles the US will respond, im not sure how, but they will as to not look weak in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Putin is EX KGB which means he is of the same cloth as Daddy Bush. There all in bed with each other so to speak. We probably had a deal with him once the Cold War was over to attack the middle east which brings the price of oil up so Russia has a source of great income. As the Russian public feels threatened from the Evil West they keep him in power which only increases the power these elites have.

Very simple to me.

fallacy if USA does respond as you suggest, then that will be an act of weakness. It's called reacting out of fear. The greatest strength is not to react to provocation.

This is game playing by Putin. He is a silly little man and best ignored.

React in kind and USA will be foolish and weak. Threats don't achieve anything and by making threats then you have to make them credible. when you do that then you get the real risk of nuclear war just to save face. That's foolish talk.

Take a deep breath and order a pizza.

That is still a reaction.

I'm just waiting for the nukes to go off so we can move on with the next era of Humanity. I don't think we can avoid it, as many have said "it's out of our control"... and I really think it is. The peace full hard working citizen has no say in the use of nukes and political selfishness. The egotistical will bring about their own world demise and in doing so a new type of world leader will replace them

Well at the next Offical COINTELPRO, Debunkers and Sheeple meeting with W I'll have to remember to call for a vote for pre-emptive strike. Since W seems to like Slim Pickens which quote do you think will go over best:

Major T. J. "King" Kong: Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.

or

Major T. J. "King" Kong: Stay on the bomb run, boys! I'm gonna get them doors open if it harelips ever'body on Bear Creek!

Back on topic.

Look, Putin can rattle his sword all he wants. But the reality is that he can retarget those missiles at anytime. Do you think all of them are aimed at the US?

More mistranslations from agencies wishing to make propoganda. For those of you who want to know what he said, here it is:

"It is clear that if a part of the U.S. nuclear capability turns up in Europe, and, in the opinion of our military specialists, will threaten us, then we are forced to take corresponding steps in response."

"What will those steps be? Naturally, we will have to have new targets in Europe."

Putin warns he will point missiles at Europe

He said that if any of US's nuclear involvement in Europe threatens Russia, they would have to take the natural step of defending themselves.

Those who believe in "Pre-Emptive" strikes, would you still hold true to that mentality here, for use by Russia?

I think what Putin is trying to say is: "I aint takin no more crap off you americans" too be sure this is going to be a different atmosphere at the summit. I doubt Bush will caught on camera acting silly, like a school boy at a spelling bee, which is how he looked on the last summit footage I had seen.

The reality is that if any of us were in charge of Russia we would all be doing the same thing. The missile defense system the US want to put in other peoples counties (which pisses me off but thats another topic) is a threat to anyone on the other side of those instillations, the fact that the US want to put those systems in suggests to anyone on the other side that the US want to hinder any long ranged threat to them selfs whilst making them the only country capable of destroying anyone they chose.

With the US being completely unpredictable in the last few years, invading countries, threatening others and with no one knowing what they may do next, its in Russia best interests as well as every other countries to make sure they let the US know there not going to keep silent or not kick up a fight if the US even remotely indicates they might be next, thats exactly why Iran have been so vocal, and with Russia being the only major country there with long range missiles capable if hitting the US in mot surprised Putin feels the US may now again be targeting there country.

Tensions will escalate, this is not the end.
Bush made a stupid move, Iran will now get a free pass at the united nations.
It's seems this curent US administration pushed russia in to an aliance with IRAN.
Next time Russia will probaly veto any sanctions on Iran and United States will focus on Russia rather than Iran and the game will change.
And who will losse? it's us the ordinary citizens, living with the threat of the cold war again, learning how to duck and cover.
I think first things will heat up at the UN.
Clinton didint do this his dady didint do this , George W BUSH has caused
more confilcts and instability in the world then any recent president in united states.
Just when things were looking well betwen Russia and United States and it would look like the 2 are going to become friends things changed as geroge w bush took office.
I think from now on we are going to see more instability ,conflicts and distruction.
Some will say nah it's not his fault blablabla.... just look all over the world, United States is on the edge of the Cold war whith Russia.
United States and China are shouting and provoching each other.
United States is Involved in a indirect war with Iran and Siria.
United States is Involved in the war in Iraq .
United States and Venesuela are in a verbal conflict .
To mention all of those above are new issues as they did not exist in the recent past.
This all due to one man....next thing he is going to say that china, russia, venesuela are all alied with binladen and alcaida and that it's all part of the war on terror

This man has done nothing for his people, what has George W Bush done for United States?
Health care? Economy? Education?
The only thing that he has done is provocation, wars and distruction.

The events Betwen US and Russia will probaly increase if things go as planed by the curent US administration and we here in Europe will have to live our lives with nukes hanging over our head because one man has desided it's for our well being and security.
We didint have nukes pointed at us, we do now, don't you all feel more secure now
