On 'thinking' that one has seen a UFO...

I am inclined to think that the majority of people here in the 21st century are capable if knowing the difference between various 'normal' aircraft and those things that are certainly there, but that don't fit the dynamic of 'normal'. Maybe not all... but surely most.

I had a very real experience back in late 1980. Since that time, I have revisted the sighting numerous times, overlaying what I've learned since then and each time, I find that my initial interpretation withstands the scrutiny.

What has become the most noticible though, is in how many, many various excuses have been submitted to dismiss UFO sightings. It is just all too clear that there are some who have created an industry in denying their existence. This fact, if for no other reason, is enough for me personally to look even harder for whatever 'truth' there is to be found.

There are the believers, then there are the knowers. That is the difference. As I am found to be fond of quoting on various and sundry occasions, "verily I say unto you, men know not this until they encompass it..." which I take to mean wrapping one's mind around the experience.

And the deeper you dig, the more fierce the denial and debunking becomes. If they had their way, we would be living in a dead universe with no Earth like planets anywhere. Some see this as a leverage of control. maybe, to some extent, however I think it is a matter of survival for the so called alien species. All would be doomed if we were to choose them as the new minority to unite against. Hundreds of thousands, nay millions of our kind would perish from unimaginably vast witch hunts, extending on for hundreds of years. So this could be the fear. Everywhere I look, everyone is ruling by fear or being dominated by fear. This is a dark age we live in.

well i have seen a ufo, it stood in mid air while i was in the car, not moving at all.Soon it started to move up in a diagonal direction. I watched it, then i went to call a friend who is an alien believer. My brother was outside and once he tuned away for a second it was gone

I actually looked at this thread, because I saw the title;

I dont think I saw a UFO; I KNOW I saw a UFO (to be more accurate, I had about 7 or 8 UFO encounters, but about 10+ UFOs, that I have seen; They were all LEVEL ONE(1) ENCOUNTERS, with a low chance of probably a LEVEL TWO(2) ENCOUNTER. I do not remember if I had the upper levels of encounter.

However, I think that this does show to people how you can confuse things that might look unusual, and probably confuse them with something else.

P.S. Please do not think that everyone confused UFOs with other things, because, like in my case I am very sure they were UFOs;

I have (and still am) studied UFO-ALIEN-/OTHER phenomenon for years now, and I still have more to go.

Thank You.

Point a green laser at it for as long as it's visible, if you get a visit from the Man you'll know it wasn't aliens or a UFO, but an unidentified air craft.
Hahah oh and enjoy the hefty fine and possible prison sentence. Tehehe

I really wish we had a few more members surfing through this thread to help us analyze these sightings. I also wish that more people would post examples of things that are commonly known to be mistaken for UFOs, as was the original purpose of this thread.

What about all the model UFO toys you can buy that actually fly:

And there are the people who are photoshopping things:

Well, there are, obviously, many things that people mistake things for UFOs, and probably even USOs ( "S"--"SUBMERGED" ).

But, I am sure I didnt, in all of my total 10+ UFOs I have seen, in multiple encounters.

Hundreds of people saw many tens, maybe even hundreds of UFOs, at once, when there was a whole "swarm" of them; I forgot when and where, though.

It doesn't mean that they don't exist, only because of some CGI, or some mistakes.

If you pick between "NO UFOS", or "YES UFOS", and you have common sense, and some intelligence (at least), then you would pick "YES UFOS", because you know the Universe is....big.

There is (solid) proof (evidence) of UFOs, and ALIENS (EBEs), but I guess that they are classified, and highyl sensitive.

So this thread is for trying to assertain if someone has seen a normal object and beleives it to be a UFO? Many people on here claim to have seen things in the sky, I think it's common to see things that are unidentifiable in the sky. What about on the ground? how common is that? Sorry if it's a stupid question but i'm new to this site and although interested in things of this nature, I realise a whole industry relies on sightings wether they are ficticous or not. Regards Johnny.

Hopefully we won't be getting as many threads about things that are obviously aircraft/whatever.

I wish. Unfortunately, I think that these threads are ignored due to laziness and ignorance.

Yes, it's unfortunate how many, many people mistake man-made aircraft with UFO's. I believe if we didn't have to filter out so much nonsense, we would be able to get somewhere faster.

I posted my experiences some time ago. I am sure they could be found with the search tool. I will say this. there are no explanations for what I saw as one defied the laws of physics and the other was very close and although quite fast it came so close it was quite clearly solid and was moving in a way that to my knowledge we are not capable of with an object of its size and shape.

thupthup...

be still my heart

You know, NT, what astonishes me is the depth and width of public mediocrity. The universe can't be more than 13.7 billion years old, they're still be workin' on them fusion reactors, light speed is still ultimate barrier, jury is still out on Martian water, much less life beyond Earth, on and on the list goes. Since I came here I have become convinced we are in the midst of a scientific dark age.

I believe the ability to grasp this stuff requires some spiritual maturity too. Often have I compared it to attempting to explain what a blast from a nuclear warhead is like to someone in say 1932. Now and then we get the visionary like Ian M. Banks, or Dr. Gerard K. O'Neil, but it just doesn't seem to sink into the mainstream.

Then we get laid siege to by these British fogies sitting at computers with nothing better to do than appoint themselves as "defenders of sanity" and debunk with extreme prejudice any ideas or members outside their predefined limits of reality. Little do they know who they strike against, having never walked a mile in our shoes.

That list above is purposeful. I have extended far beyond the limit of each of those criteria. Our starry neighbors will not sit down and sup with us until we learn to sit and sup with one another. This is the way of the universe, the law of nature. Fear is the mind killer.

I believe what i saw (on two separate occasions, a few years apart, and in totally different states) could probably be put off as a meteorite. It looked almost liquid metallic and had green streaks behind it. It was mid-day and nearing dusk. Whatever they were, they were gorgeous and a lovely reward for looking up at the sky at the right time.
It seemed awfully low to the ground both times though...never heard of a crash report or anything.

Oh well.

Interesting tidbit. I happened by chance back upon a forum I used to belong to for a short time, via an email notification and when I took a look low and behold I found an account posted by someone that was nearly Identical to my own sightings. same zig zag behavior in one and the same size metallic orb in the other. Matayas, there seems to be a very strong effort by the governments and other influences to inhibit mankinds perception, acceptance of true understanding of the things they see. Once people become aware of this they shatter the stronghold and become capable of seeing things they would have previously feared to know existed. I look forward to the day when everyone is walking about with their minds wide open.

maytas, i think you have hit it on the head... there are probably a few million of us that would like and welcome the knowledge and recognition of aliens, then there are the vast majority that would turn it into a "witch hunt" and maybe that is why little dribs and drabs of knowledge coupled with a gross amount of deniability is still coming out from our various governments. there are hundreds of millions of people thast would have you killed for believing in the "wrong" god...let alone aliens

"I believe what I saw"...that statement carries the force of conviction with it apparently settled long ago. And their manifestation at dusk is significant, very much so, in these books. In my own experience, and many others I have talked to, have expressed the feeling of otherness, that outworld effect, as if they possess a kind of metaphysical quality. In between day and night there is a narrow band, to borrow another author's words, a separate reality, balancing in the edge of a dime...

And within this narrow window, like a seam between worlds, events transpire beyond the phenomenal. I went so far once to look up what world it is that could exist beyond the phenomenal, and I found the numenal. The numenal world is a curious state of affairs, a place where all known laws are merely choices, a place that resonates with the poet or artist more than the concrete thinker. I think that is a glimpse of the mind of the Universe, or Overmind, whatever name you wish to give it.

Within this heretofore undiscovered country is many lands, Shamballah and Avalon, a place of magical quality understood by all cultures and weaved into stories by people from all climes and times.

I think we come from there, and eventually return, but there are those not just scientifically advanced but spiritually advanced enough to come and go at will. I recall the story of an eastern Indian queen who said those lights in the sky are women moving to and fro in the universe on errands to meet with their husbands. Just as likely an explanation as the ones we come up with, so all's fair for a shake.

Dusk and dawn, rush hour of the angels. The pulse of the Universe forever cycling through its polarities.

Indeed, that is just what we need...another minority to scapegoat. How appropriate that on MLK day we are discussing this matter.

I have a friend who pointed out what Martin Luther King Jr. had to say about aliens, he summed it up pretty much the same, but with a twist...seeing how we treat each other, who in their right mind would reveal their otherworldly origins? I would love to find that quote for the edification of our enlightened members.

Another comes to me, one from the Big Book itself, "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence." 1 Corinthians 1:27-30

If read carefully, it seems to honor diversity and welcome change. My interpretation of "foolish", "weak", and "base" are different in my mind no doubt from the time they were written and interpreted. Once long ago my mentor said to me, "When everyone knows that things are a certain way, then they are about to change." So that means the opposite of whatever the circumstances are now.

This is the kind of change we all must experience as individuals before our minds can "open" as NT puts it. It is a personal journey, a subjective one that I cannot lead anyone through. Those who have eyes and see not and ears but hear not do not have a mind to understand. First comes the realization, than all else follows.

It is my understanding the greater portion of spiritual growth requires some fundamental perception of God. Perhaps that is why I am a deist, at least I am told by many that I am. And what about those encounters witnesses have had with the UFOnauts who did not ask to take them to their leader, but rather what they believed? Why in Heaven's name travel so far and attempt the most dangerous contact just to find out what we believe?

Well, we sent out missionaries, did we not? So these missionaries to the stars are most likely the forerunners of future explorers. The first waters to test is what the natives believe, and a belief in God is more likely a good thing than a bad one. Its a green flag to the ones who would explore and settle, and maybe even in the far future we will use the same methods again, I would put money on it.

Oh yes, recall that movie "They Live"? It was the street preacher that opened up Roddy Piper's eyes with the right pair of shades? "I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubble gum." Yeah, that be the one.
