I would like to read more 'I saw the actual craft' and a description of what it did and looked like.

OK.... In 1980-something (I don't remember the year, I was a pre-teen.) I saw a triangle-shaped ship hovering over the woods near my house. This was before people started talking about triangle shaped ones, so this was nothing I ever expected. It just hovered there, with lines of white lights outlining its shape. After about 5 minutes, it did a 180 and shot off into the night. (did I forget to mention it made no sound?)

Now, this past Thursday morning, at about 4:45 AM, I was walking outside where I live now, and noticed a *star* where there usualy is not one. I stopped and looked at it, expecting it to be a helicopter or something, but there was NO sound. ( I live in a quiet area) It glowed there, while I wondered why I'd never noticed a planet that bright there any other night I've been out walking, and it slowly winked out... like it turnd and vanished. This was a crystal clear night with no clouds, and it did not move until I saw it turn and vanish.

Interesting story, RavenWolf. Can you give us any more specifics about this event... like location and such? Would you happen to have any photos or video?

so i just made this account .

but i live in Wisconsin . and all i can say is . that as of late .. there have been these neon green looking shooting you know it looks like a shooting stars... but as it comes down it breaks up.. and just floats to the ground..

i have a friend who does not believe in anything of this nature and has been with me when i see these things and all he can say is "whatever" ..

there have been other cases of .. seeing a white light hover in one spot.. and slowly move and i had to stop my car once on a major HWY to see this .. my friend was with me again and he dismisses it .. who knows..

i believe i saw my first UFOs this weekend.

i was near Angels Camp CA at a big outdoor festival and it was probably around 3-4AM and I was lying on the ground looking at the crystal clear stars...

i saw a couple of shooting stars and 2 satellites...

then, i thought i saw 2 satellites moving near eachother, but all a sudden they started moving erradically, changing direction sharply...then they just stopped in the sky and appear to be 'buzzing' at eachother. . . as if they were communicating to eachother. it was surreal and i couldn't believe what i was seeing. it didn't frighten me, but i was astonished. i've been looking to the skies for ufo's for quite some time and just saw my first, and there were two of them!

i will be looking way more often now...especially in places of nature when there is hardly any light pollution from cities.

Very interesting stories from both of you!

Ithink, yours makes me want to say "meteor" but you already alluded to the fact that you thought so too, and ruled it out. Would love to have pictures and further detail.

Psilo, your's sounds interesting indeed, since what you have described certainly does not seem "natural". I wish I had been there with you to see it!

I really hope that other ATSers chime in here and try to help you guys figure out what you saw. At the moment, I really couldn't say definitively what you guys were looking at!

And I haven't. Quite honestly, I believe that there certainly is an Alien/UFO thing going on out there, but I also know that there are even more false positives. Just trying to help people make a better decision on what it was they saw.

I hope people don't mistake these balloons for UFOs:

They are big enough to be real ones though.

Sometimes, the best we can do is to add another piece to the puzzle. Eventually we will have enough pieces to get some sort of picture. Not all lights in the sky are aircraft. The moon reflecting off swamp gas with a flock of birds flying near Venus is not an explanation for anything. These are things the debunkers like to throw around when no explanation can be found. It's easier and safer to point, belittle and make fun of those of us who have had experiences. Just throwing in my 2 cents.

It is important to fairly review any report of Unidentified Flying Object. I have seen several Objects that were Flying that I could identify. Therefore, they are U.F.O.s. A couple could have been military helicopters. I've seen military helicopters make some interesting maneuvers.

Hello everyone. I would like to shed some light on an observation i have made many years ago about ufos.

If you look at photos and videos of ufos, starting back from the the first ever presented you will notice something. For example, in the fifties alot of photos show ufos that look like someone built them in there garage. And others are very mainstream. My point being is this was the sign of the technology at the time.So i would say most of them where prob. man made but others cant be explained away so easy. The problem now is that with computers and technology being so mainstream that it would be harder to tell real et craft from our own governments. Just go and look at all the material you can find on ufo photos and videos. And then you will see what i mean.

And if you look at older government proto-type crafts you can see that they are very much like the some other craft you see in film and photos.I am just surprised I have never heard this point from anyone, ever before.I think the reason is because people look to hard for answers and its the simple things that are most telling.

An unusually pronounced sundog produced by sunlight passing through thin cirrus clouds. The true sun is located outside of the picture to the right."

Just to add to this observation - Sundogs generally appear in even multiples - If you see one to the right of the actual sun, there will often be one an equal distance away from the sun to the left. I've also seen sundogs above and below the sun, if the clouds through which the sun appears are very smoothly distributed.

In addition to the false UFOs listed so far, a couple of more things that I've seen that I initially thought were UFOs, but were proven not to be include:

  1. Helicopters - Some have red lights pointed up at the main rotor. This can produce an odd shimmering effect at night. Some military helicopters also have sound suppression systems, so you might see this shimmering red light without hearing the noise of the blades.
  2. Rockets - Unannounced rocket launches can occasionally be seen at night. Rockets jettisoning stages at night produce a very unusual light show.

I don't understand. Would this be the best place to report a sighting? I'd like to describe a sighting made 07/11/07 and see if anyone has any comments.

I live in Austin, TX. I was looking at Venus and there was, what I thought was a twinkling star, next to it. It was twinkling too fast and too red but it was stationary. When it started to move downward I thought it was a plane. I don't know why I kept looking at it, maybe because I was wondering why it had been stationary for so long, I figured it had been gaining altitude and thus appeared stationary and when it leveled out it appeared to move down or away.

and of course just when I was going to go on about my business not only did it suddenly shoot to the right but a similar light appeared out of nowhere, they met for a moment and continued to the right.

I'm willing to believe perhaps there was another plane coming from the other direction and the blinking of all the objects confused my orientation and the original object continued downward.

My memory is fading but I remember there was an issue with the speed....

I guess my question is do the taillights suddenly disappear because they are just to far away.?

Thanks for the kudos buddy!

If we can get some good responses in here, then as mentioned above, I want to make a flash based guide for those that just saw a UFO. I want to make it where someone sees a UFO (or so they think) and they visit the guuide, which asks them questions about it and shows them photos or other common mistaken UFOs based on their response to questions. Lofty goal, I know, but it would be great to have exclusively here at ATS.

That's fine, but you have to be very careful not contaminate the witness.

A dream application would be one where the witness enters his location and the time, and it pulls in the astronomy, the meteorology, the satellites, meteor showers, common air traffic routes, etc, and shows the witness what he should have seen at that date and time. Those are objective data, and could reduce the misidentifications

If you show the witness any number of common misidentifications which may or may not be verified against the time and date, you could easily contaminate his memory of the event.

Here is the latest aerial phenomenon that is quickly considered a UFO but is actually a simple flaming floating chinese lantern that even a child could pull off as a hoax. They cost about $2.50 and float for miles before going out. I have seen multiple YouTube videos and other crap where the people believe they saw a flaming UFO or plane on fire when in fact it is just a simple ancient toy.

See this video:

Below is a clear example of where some jacko is hoaxing the masses with these stupid lanterns. This video is a HOAX and the author moderates comments not allowing the YouTube community to spoil his fun at fooling people into thinking its a real UFO: (He also added angelic type music by EnYA to help fool people) I cant stand people like this that HOAX and ruin the credibility of real sightings that may be taking place!

WATCH THIS FAKE VIDEO TO SEE A LANTERN FOOLING EVERYONE:

THIS GUY IS SUCH A FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is another much LARGER Chinese lantern on the go with fireworks attached adding to the visual display:

in 1996 or around that year me and my family saw this neon blue saucer, so close we saw the detail on it. so close even to the earth it was hovering over this building but it was in the direction of the bronx if not brooklyn, but i saw it, and so did my whole family. my mother, my sister, my 2 brothers, and myself.
i dont have any physical proof to show that i saw it except for my family, since they are also eyewitnesses to it. no pictures, no camera, nothing.
i can tell you in detail what i saw, but thats all i can give.
how do i tell if it was an actual ufo or not?? it seemed like one to me very much, from the appearance, glow, color, shape, and even detail.

Ok, I saw one of the alleged flying humanoid things a couple weeks ago. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I am 90% sure I saw one of these things...

www.youtube.com...

www.livevideo.com...

Now, I am not saying that it's a flying entity but it was something strange. I was sitting in my car at a stoplight at Indian School Road and 44th Street. It
was about 730pm and to my left ( I was heading south so I was looking east ) I see this thing in the sky. It was very high up.

It was black, relatively flat shaped, and floating in an unusual way. It was stationary but oscillating. In my estimate it was about 30 feet across.

I sat at the light watching this thing and was really intrigued. I thought maybe it was someone flying a kite at a nearby park. So when the light turned green I got in the turn lane and went east to check it out. I got to the park and there was no one flying a kite. At that point, I couldnt see the object any longer, I dont know what happened to it.

Here is what made me think it was a ufo

It was huge. I know people are going to say it was a plastic bag caught in an updraft or in a current, but this thing was huge, plus it was stationary. A bag would be flying around willy nilly.

If I thought it was a plastic bag I would have gone about my business but this thing gave me a very strange feeling, there was something eerie about it.
